      Re: Why did Jesus spit?

In Jewish Custom, it is Believed that there is power in the spittle of a FIRST born.
COL 1;18 Confirms this, And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

1:19 For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness of The Godhead to dwell in Him-Christ!

      Jesus by spitting not only
declares him to be the RISEN Lord and the will be First Born first, it also
points the the future resurrection of the dead starting with His own resurrection.
It shows how His power will be used to raise man(dust) out of our eternal misery of damnation through His resurrection.

So given the theory - what about the spittle of a True Christian? Surely it would have some type of properties - perhaps for soothing rashes or eczema?

I think you should lay off the booze. That proves nothing, furthermore, it calls God a liar.

              Pastor Ezekiel,

I praise the Lord for the insight and the wonderful, anointed information your posts fill me with.

You are truly filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Spit of Jesus had Healing Magic. The Jewish and Roman authorities thought it was scandalous even if Jesus performed magic for divine purposes.

On your question, Jesus spat on the old mans eyes to heal the old man's blindness, It was a miracle. He could have just said "see" but he decided to rather spit!

              Shout GLORY!

(I feel a poem stirring in me, but maybe it is just wind).

                Re: Why did Jesus spit?

I came here to get 411 about spitting, and did get a few factoids.
                But the postings became spewings.
"money-grubbing hook-nosed joos, bitch-slapping" and other such language don't seem in keeping with the verse Ephesians 4:29 "let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers".
Are our Pastors bigots as the pharisees Luke 18:11 "God, I thank the that I am not like as this publican"?
Are our ushers judges and executers of Gods vengence? Was that a Biblical quote or something from your own creative genuis Bro Temperance?
Are we as Christians allowed to harbor contempt and lothing for others. Sister S? BTW....showing clevage and sucking a lolipop in a pic was more suggestive than anything Ms Van Helsing said. Harlot....really?
A pastor condoning and praising God for those things in language and attitude I can't envision our loving Lord using?
True, Ms Van Helsing is antagonistic and instigates trouble. But she isn't premissing the things she says with the nobility and virtue of God's Word.
We as Baptists believe in the literal Word of God, but the whole Word of God. Can we be selective about what God says?

To most "Christians" The Bible is like a license agreement. They just scroll to the bottom and click "I agree". All those "Christians" will burn in Hell!

No need to "envision" it, just read your Bible: Jesus is impolite. Deal with it.

Hey Gay Man, what's your problem with "money-grubbing hook-nosed joos"? That's a description - nothing corrupt about that. And what's your problem with slapping female dogs?

Í never had a discussion of this particular topic with Jesus (we have much more pressing matters to address when we do our face-to-faces), but, since you don't seem satisfied, I will give you what appears to me to be the most logical answer--had Jesus used any other bodily fluid, it would have been disgusting. Think about it and I'm sure you'll agree.

Well, you have a point there, at least in part. What's important about the Jews isn't the shape of their noses, it's the shape of their souls. As for money grubbing, it was Jews, not Christians, who turned God's Temple into a banking bazaar.

                          Are our Pastors bigots
We do not tolerate bigotry at Landover. Period.

Are we as Christians allowed to harbor contempt and lothing for others.
We have no contempt in our hearts, except for those whom the Lord has made contemptible:

But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord of hosts. Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law. Malachi 2:8-9

A pastor condoning and praising God for those things in language and attitude I can't envision our loving Lord using?
Jesus called people hypocrites, blind fools, snakes, vipers, thieves, sons of the Devil, and one or two more choice words that I can't recite off the top of my head. Don't you read the Bible?

We as Baptists believe in the literal Word of God, but the whole Word of God. Can we be selective about what God says?
                          Finally you say something sensible.
