We see it all the time, folks. People mock our faith, they ridicule our behavior, they poke fun and try to shame us into changing our stance. The latest argument falls on some pithy little phrase about Jesus having been a Middle Eastern Refugee, so we should feel sorry for those poor refugees, open our homes to them, give them our jobs, let them impregnate our daughters, blah blah blah, whah whah whah. Well, I've read the accounts of His miraculous birth and early travel, and nowhere have I found Jesus identified as a "refugee."
Good grief, the word isn't even in the Holy Bible. Don't take my word for it,
check it for yourself. But more importantly than that, we can deduct logically the details to which we are not yet privy. We can deduce, for example, Jesus wouldn't have had any followers if he looked like your basic Arab. Why, one might argue the first miracle Jesus ever performed was to be born a white man in the Middle East, and no wonder. How in the world could God expect to catch man's attention looking like a sand negro?
Would you follow Jesus if He looked like this?
Do you think "Refugee Jesus" would haggle
for your Salvation?
Jesus would not have been
welcomed into Jerusalem,
as a King no less,
if He looked like them.
Who would you trust standing behind your children at any moment,
smelling their hair (and looking really into it) when you're not around?
Jesus or some Arab?
Who would you trust to be with you when you take on such serious temptations
as drug abuse or rage addiction?
Jesus or some Arab?
Who would you trust leading an army of angry soldiers (Revelation 19:14),
ready to soak their feet in the blood of the wicked (Psalm 58:10)?
Jesus, or some Arab?
Who would you rather be responsible for the death
of all life on earth save a chosen few?
Jesus, or some Arab?
Who would you rather be in control of the White House?
Jesus, or some Arab?
As we have seen, this whole argument is rather silly. Jesus was not a Middle Eastern Refugee. He did not share a boat with hundreds of other poor looking for a hand out in Europe. He does not blow people up when they don't convert. He patiently awaits their death, then Sparta-kickes them to Hell for all eternity, like a civilized, clean, honorable God. Hopefully we can now put it to rest.
