After reading all the Godly responses to this poor atheist's pleas for help I am filled with sorrow.

I had a good friend who suffered from a particularly fast-growing cancer. She suffered through chemotherapy, sustained by her faith in the Lord. When the cancer returned she underwent a bone marrow transplant: some of her healthy marrow was removed and held aside, then she was injected with poisonous chemicals so strong they destroyed her ability to make blood cells. Only after the bone marrow was re-injected was she able to survive.

The suffering was tremendous. Her entire digestive tract was ulcerated. She could not eat. Speaking was agony.

A year later the cancer returned.

When it formed plaques -- thin sheets of cancerous cells -- in her brain she suffered blinding headaches. And as it propagated in her body cavity it slowly choked her lungs.

The Lord watched over her and cared for her as a loving father cares for his child.

Then she died.

How can an atheist believe there is no God? How can he not see the merciful benevolence with which the Lord cradles His children, and with His omnipotent power shields them from harm?
