Rabbi [weird, un-Christian last name] is referring to the popular belief that the Jewish foundation narrative detailed in the Tanakh (the Hebrew Bible) chronicles actual historical events. In fact it’s been known among biblical archaeologists for nearly three generations that the Five Books of Moses (the Torah) and the Deuteronomistic History of the Nevi’im (including the books of Joshua, Judges, and Samuel) are no more a literal account of the early history of the Jewish people than J. R. R. Tolkien’s, The Lord of the Rings, is a literal account of World War 1.

Rabbi Whatshisname’s explicit dismissal of the veracity of the bible might seem an aberration to many not versed in biblical criticism, but he in fact represents the consensus position in all but orthodox movements of Judaism. Rabbis today concede (although rarely announce) that the Patriarchs tales are simple mythology, that the Israelites were never in Egypt, that Moses was a legendary motif not found in history, and that there was never an Exodus nor a triumphant military conquest of Canaan.

As the article notes, this strikes at the heart of Christianity (True Christianity™, not the fluffy-bunny nonsense that Whiskeypalians and other unbelievers who play church call "Christianity"):

Redefining the early history of the Jewish people means, after all, also redefining the very foundation slab of two of the world’s most popular theological systems – Christianity and Islam – replacing words like “historical,” “genuine,” and “actual” with words such as “fiction,” “fable,” and “myth”.

As we know, whether or not the Old Testament is true (and it is), Is-lame is a ridiculous bunch of fables dreamed up by a desert nomad infested by the devils of epilepsy, full of fatuous twaddle like tales of talking ants. But the historicity of the Old Testament is an absolute requirement for our faith to be true.

Then there's this gem:

An extended metaphor for what? Isn't it funny how those who purport to read the Bible metaphorically never say.

No wonder Jesus came to save the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel*. If Rabbi Rabbi Rabbi (or whatever his name is) is to be believed, they desperately need Him and need Him now! I fail to see how it is possible that members of a tribe that Yahweh was given as his own**, can possibly think that a historical document would serve any purpose at all were it not absolutely true.

The whole point is that the Jews are the Jews because Yahweh told them that they were the Jews - If this is all mere fiction with no more truth than any other folk-tale, then there are no Jews and that leaves us with a problem as far as our accountants and lawyers are concerned.

The whole thing is as ridiculous as thinking that the US is not a nation founded upon and with the guidance of God!

My studies have revealed to me that the European originating Jews that most of us know are not actually Jews at all. They were a tribe of accountants, jewelers and lawyers who lived in eastern Europe. They were heathens and had no particular religion. They found themselves pressed by the Russian Catholics from the east, The Roman Catholics from the west and the Muslims from the south. Presumably, they were menaced by Eskimos to the north. Everyone wanted them to join up with their false religions, but these lawyers, accountants and jewelers were of an independent nature and were having none of it. Someone had the idea to "tell them all we're Jews". It worked out great and the jewelers (note the jew in jeweler- no accident), the accountants and the lawyers invented banking.

It is natural for lawyers to try to mess things up. That is why most of them are Democrats. I am not the least surprised that some bored Jew lawyer would try to prove there are no Jews, the Bible is fiction and it was all just a big social club from the very beginning. They are sly, those Jews, but they will all burn in Hell.
