Default Landover Animal Ministry Brotherhood (LAMB) - 12-02-2007, 09:37 PM

With all of the amazing work that Landover Baptist does to minister the Word of God to peoples worldwide, it is important that we not forget Christ's admonition in Mark 16:15 to "go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

I have spent many a weekend at the Landover Christian Zoological Park, worn Bible in hand, preaching the life, death, and resurrection of Christ Jesus to the animals assembled in the Ark there. It is a ministry that requires much patience, but it also brings many rewards. I can't describe to you the joy that I feel when I see a bear or wolf or crocodile pay close attention to me as I deliver the Word of God (I've found that the animals are especially receptive just before feeding time--they truly hunger for knowledge of the Lord). It is a ministry that I hope to expand in the future to predators in the wild.

From personal experience, I can tell you that going door to door and offering to preach the Word to dogs, cats, and hamsters is a surprisingly effective way to bring the good news of the Bible both to this underserved community and to the pets' human masters. I remember with great fondness the first animal I converted. After hundreds of hours of patient ministry, my roommate's grey parrot finally confessed his faith ("Wraaaawk, Jesus died for your sins, wraaaawk!"), then went on to witness the Word to his human master continuously for weeks, until the bird's mysterious and untimely death. Luckily, I got to this wonderful animal just in time to save him from the fires of Hell.

I would be most happy to share tips and experiences with others in our community who have also been called by God to this noble enterprise.

Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name.... Jeremiah 10:25
