Default A theory on raising well-behaved children. - 02-08-2008, 07:03 PM

Perhaps when a child gets in trouble, whether it be for disobeying his or her parents or using a foul curse word, that child should not be kept inside from his playmates for punishment. Perhaps the child should be sent out into the world to be laughed at by their friends and neighbors by standing on the street holding a sign apologizing to the world (and God) for their indiscretions. Practicing this may be hard on parents, as their children may cry and weep, but it will teach them humility.

Proof of this in action can be seen from this article from Jacksonville, Florida: http://www.wjxx.com/news/strange/new...storyid=101782

1 Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Edit: Or I guess a beating would suffice to straighten out the little heathens.

Psalm 139:19-20
Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

I'm sorry, I should have searched before posting this, as there is already a thread on the same subject of public humiliation: http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showt...ht=humiliation

I will have to defer to Pastor Ezekial's statement that a good beating is the only way to straighten out a child. I have much to learn about being a good Christian man. If God ever blesses me with children, I will beat them as any True Christian™ would.

Strikes me Brother Hackwith that one can never overstate God's Law. The Good Book (KJV) is filled with repetitions for emphasis, as God knows that His creation is fallible and weak and needs constant reminders (well, 4 of them) before he will utterly wipe someone or a small tribe off the face of the Earth in His Goodness and Mercy.

I see both of these instances as a prelude to stoning, which, I hear is forbidden by man's law in some States.

Not being a parent myself, I sometimes forget how difficult it is to raise a child dedicated to the Lord. Here's a mistake I made with my five year old nephew, which (belive me) the rest of you should avoid:

Poor Micah came home from school one day crying. My sister was in her putting away week, so I was holding down the fort while his dad was at work. When I asked him why he was so upset, he told me that his teacher had smacked his butt several times for uttering a swear word. Micah told me that he didn't even know it was a swear word, it was just something he had heard his daddy say to his mommy, and it sounded funny, so he repeated it to his friends.

It all sounded terribly unfair to me, punishing a young child for doing something that he didn't know was wrong, so, against my better judgment, I decided to help him avoid this problem in the future by giving him a list of words that he should not say in school. Now, Micah is a good kid who tries to do the right thing, but his memory hasn't fully developed and he doesn't read very well yet, so, in all innocence, he handed the list to his kindergarten teacher and asked her to read the words on the list to him so he'd be sure not to say any of them in class.

I tried to deny the whole thing, of course, which just made it all go down that much worse. It seems that nobody believed me when I claimed that little Micah probably came up with most of these words (e.g., monkeysh*tf***er) on his own, not to mention spelling all 287 of them correctly.

By the time Deacon Dave got through chewing me out, I thought that he was on the verge of using a number of the forbidden words himself, and then taking a switch to my backside. It's a good thing he didn't know about that public humiliation idea (and, for God's sake, do not suggest it to him), or I would have been wandering around Freehold for weeks with a sign saying, Don't teach these words to your kids: as**ole, as***cker, a**wipe, batsh*t, etc.

So, my advice to any of you parents out there, is let your kids learn the really bad words the old fashioned way, by having their teachers beat the knowledge into them randomly.

Wow, 287? I think that list could be condensed to about eight root words.
