As you all know, we do not have a physical branch of the Landover Baptist Church here in the area where I live. Therefore, I frequently find myself visiting other Baptist churches when I'm hungry for a little in-person fellowship.

Well you wouldn't believe what happened to me last Sunday. I had been invited by a very nice young man to come check out his parents' church, and I naturally took him up on the offer. I should have known something was up when I met the pastor's daughter and she had one of those septum piercings the kids are so hot on these days, and insisted on sucking on her Starbuck's in church, but I figured maybe I could look past that.



Well friends, where there's smoke, there's fire. The pastor himself seemed a nice enough guy, but twenty minutes into his sermon, he had only mentioned Jesus once.

And then he announced he was turning the lectern over to a guest-preacher, and this person was a woman!

This harpy proceeded to spend the rest of the sermon time haranguing us about how Jesus would support California becoming a sanctuary state for "undocumented" immigrants, and we could all be more Christ-like if we oppose President Trump's DACA repeal!

At this point, I got mad, started asking questions, and learned the church I was in was a "Progressive Baptist" church, and part of an organization called the Alliance of Baptists.

Naturally, I got the heck out of there, but I've been researching this organization, and I'd like to present you with some of my findings:

1. The Alliance of Baptists was formed by liberals, who wanted to get away from the Southern Baptist Convention's emphasis on Biblical literalism and traditional morality.

2. The Alliance of Baptists believe individuals should be free to interpret scripture for themselves.

I don't have time or space to list all the Bible verses that say otherwise, but I'll just leave this right here:

2 Peter 1:20

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

3. The Alliance of Baptists believe in ordaining female pastors.

Too bad the Bible doesn't agree with them on that:

1 Corinthians 14:34

The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says.

1 Timothy 2:12

I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

4. The Alliance of Baptists believes in pursuing "social and economic justice."

Friends, you all know what those words are code for.



5. The Alliance of Baptists are committed to the separation of church and state.

Yippee, let's get God out of the classroom and keep scripture off our public buildings. Go ahead and cede the whole damned country to atheists, and throw in our children's minds while we're at it!

6. The Alliance of Baptists joined the 2014 lawsuit against North Carolina's ban on same-sex marriage, and believes in "inclusiveness" toward homosexual congregants.

Do I even need to quote the relevant Bible verses? I know I've memorized every Bible verse pertaining to sodomy, but in case anybody's unclear on the concept:

Leviticus 18:22

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Leviticus 20:13

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

7. The Alliance of Baptists believe in fellowshipping with other "Christians," regardless of denomination.

So, if you happen to be a false Christian who belongs to a false denomination, that's no problem for these Progressive Baptists. Come join the party, be ye Pentecostal or Papist-- the more, the merrier!

Peter had much to say about false teachings:

2 Peter 2:1-3

2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

In conclusion, I would like to say that although these Progressive Baptists can seem very nice when you meet them, the minute you become aware you're dealing with a Progressive Baptist, you should recognize the fact that you are in spiritual danger.

Treat ALL Progressive Baptists like wolves in sheep's clothing, for that is what they are!

Brother Faith Machine, thank you for this very important and informative post. it must be a sign that the end is more near than ever before, if we cannot even trust people who call themselves Baptists!

I am convinced now that Jesus was talking specifically to our generation when He said this:

Luke 21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

A bit of good news: I seem to have forged a connection with the pastor's daughter (pictured above), and plan on counseling her regarding matters of faith.

Also, she seems to have a lot of unresolved anger toward her father. Perhaps I can help her with that too.
