Default Day 285. Matthew 7-9 - 09-28-2011, 07:51 PM

Matthew 7-9

Matthew 7

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

The sinners favorite verse. Don't Judge me. The sinners most misunderstood verse, don't judge me.

People always scream CONTEXT, when presented with a verse they don't like. They never bother to look at the same CONTEXT when presented with a verse they like. They really like "Judge not". Why? Because it allows them to do their sinful behaviour without fear of consequences. BUT, there's a problem. After "Judge not" is "that ye be not judged". The next verse is the important verse in it. It says that however you judge people, you will be judged by the same standard. Are you ready and willing to be judged by the standard you hold other to?

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Jesus compared the judgement to having something in your eye, and something in your brothers eye. He has a small thing, you have a big thing. Before you go telling people to fix their small thing, you first MUST fix your big thing. What is your big thing? Have you fixed your beam?

What happens after you fix your big thing? What then?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

After fixing your problems, then it's acceptable and even encouraged to fix the other people's problems.

After getting RIGHT, then you can help others get right. It is then, that you can (and should) judge!

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Are you looking for God? If you are, you will find Him.

"The search for truth is a religious quest". If you are looking for something, you will find it. If you are looking for a reason to be full of hatred, you will find it. If you are looking for a reason to be happy, you will find that. If you are looking for a reason to love someone, you will find it. If you are looking for a reason to hate someone, you will find that to, WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR? "Seek, and ye shall find."

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

WHAT, WHAT, WHAAAAT? That can't be right! Not everyone who says they are Christians will get into heaven? I find that incomprehensible. People who say they are something, but aren't actually that thing won't get into heaven? Only those that actually DO.

I can say I'm a doctor, but unless I heal the sick, I'm not a doctor. I can say I'm a truck driver, but unless I drive a truck, I'm not. I can say I'm a lawyer, priest, special forces assassin, but unless I DO those things, I'm not. I can say I'm a Christian, but unless I do the will of the Father, I'm not. Are you a sayer, or a doer?!?!

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Does Jesus know you?

Jesus then told about the wise man who built his house on the rock, and not the idiot who built it on the sand.

28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Scribes weren't just people who wrote. These were people who were basically lawyers. They knew the rules. They re-wrote (not changed, but continually wrote) the torah whenever they needed a new copy. When they were writing, they had to say each word when they wrote it.

These guys knew the torah back and forth, but (and it's a big but) just because they knew it, doesn't mean they understood it. They couldn't tell you WHY you weren't supposed to do something, they told you what you couldn't do.

Jesus was able to provide the why, along with the what.

Matthew 8

Jesus heals people.

Verse 2, a leper.

But getting a healing from Jesus is like fight club.

4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

The first rule of Jesus healing is you don't talk about Jesus healing. The second rule is YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT JESUS HEALING!

Verse 6, a centurion's servant with palsy.

Verse 14, Peter's mother in law, sick with a fever.

Verse 16, many with devils, and all that were sick.

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Apparently this is in reference to Isaiah 53:4. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

So, Matthew again makes reference to a prophet, he likes to do that.

At this point, one of the disciples asked to go bury his father.

22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Jesus was getting tired of his fans... and even some of his friends.

So, Jesus got on a boat and took a nap.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

Jesus then yelled at the wind, and it calmed down.

Jesus then cast the devils into the pigs.

32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

This relatively upset the pig herders. So they went and told the town, the town came out...

34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

He was probably happy that he didn't have fans for once.

Matthew 9

He heals some more.

Verse 2, a guy with palsy. Jesus healed him by telling him that his sins were forgiven, to which the scribes proclaimed blasphemy.

6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

7 And he arose, and departed to his house.

So, Jesus showed that he could forgive sins.

9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

Disciple #5, Matthew.

Jesus then went to eat.

10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

Publicans were tax collectors.

11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?

Why does Jesus eat with sinners?

12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

The righteous don't need a saviour. The healthy don't need a doctor. A working car doesn't need a mechanic.

Preventive maintenance and medicine didn't exist back then.

Jesus then heals a woman who had a 12 year period.

Then a dead girl.

Then two blind men. (He told them not to tell that he did it; so of course they did).

Then a dumb (non-speaking) man.

34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

The Pharisees were a group of people who strictly followed mosaic law. It wasn't until Jesus was around that the Pharisees got a bad name. They were well thought of, until Jesus started bad mouthing them. There's a reason he did it, and we'll get to that later.

The pharisees claimed that Jesus was able to cast out demons, because he was the chief demon.

Jesus then went out and preached.

So what have we learned today?

1. Seek and ye shall find.

2. Be something, don't just say you are something.

3. Jesus healed lots of people.

Amen to that Brother.

A True Christian™ never fears judgement as we are free of sin (1st John 1:7, Revelation 1:5, 1st John 3:9). It is those who refuse to judge others who clearly have something to hide. Not to mention Leviticus 19:15, John 7:24, 2nd Timothy 4:1-2, Psalm 37:30, Proverbs 31:9 and of course first Corinthians 2:15.

The most annoying thing is that people keep abusing Matthew 7 to protest against well deserved judgement instead of trying to learn form it and better themselves. Clearly misdirected hostility to those who are only trying to save them.

Galatians 4:6 "Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?"

Freedom means voting for Donald Trump!
To most "Christians" The Bible is like a license agreement. They just scroll to the bottom and click "I agree". All those "Christians" will burn in Hell!
James 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
