God Bless Walmart! Their Christmas Tree is up already! -
11-06-2010, 08:22 PM
Yes, Friends, by the third day of November, there it was at my local Walmart: Already up, and Right within the front door!
But just like last year I was hounded by a pack of Raging homer!sexuals throughout the store, leering and salivating at my Modest-yet-full-figured Baptist Body.
And, same as last year, this was the worst one of them all

I thought conservative christians don't like christmas trees because it's "pagan symbolism" or something.

I still got my Tree up from last year.
It's wonderful to be able to remember Our Lord Jesus' Birthday all the year around.

Christmas trees are not pagan symbols. I don't know where you got that from... Having a tree indoors and presents is to celebrate Baby Jesus being born.

I saw an 18 wheeler hauling a 60' fir tree today while cruising down the interstate today. That must be good business for the truckers. I bet the shipping costs far outweigh the cost of the tree itself. Who knows how far it's going to end up from its original location? Usually you see trucks full of logs, or lots of bundled trees, but not a truck with a single Christmas tree.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Merry Christmas, Sister SUV! Gotta love Christmas Trees, some say the first week of November is to soon to start decorating for Christmas but I say it's never to early to start decorating for Baby Jesus' Birthday.

There's nothing like Christmas Eggnog. Sadly my wife, though excellent at most womanly things, just can't make decent eggnog.

Starting the first of November, Christmas carols have been echoing though out the Hutchins plantation. The little ones singing about grandma getting run over by Santa, Mrs. H singing about 'Here come Satan Claus, here comes Santa Claus, straight up my way..."
It is amazing hearing those messcans singing American, their words travel through those chicken coop walls as if the 1/4" plywood was not there. This time of the year, the bells we pin on their iron colors really add to the festive feeling.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Well, yours is the only baptist church that has no problem with christmas trees(from what I've seen, anyway).
Merry (early) Christmas!

Sadly I'm not a member if Landover Baptist (yet) but my church here in Tennessee already has their tree up right in their main foyer. Stop trying to sully Jesus' birthday with your witch-ideas.

Christmas Tree Origins
Quote:
The Egyptians were part of a long line of cultures that treasured and worshipped evergreens. When the winter solstice arrive, they brought green date palm leaves into their homes to symbolize life's triumph over death.
The Romans celebrated the winter solstice with a fest called Saturnalia in honor of Saturnus, the god of agriculture. They decorated their houses with greens and lights and exchanged gifts. They gave coins for prosperity, pastries for happiness, and lamps to light one's journey through life.
Centuries ago in Great Britain, woods priests called Druids used evergreens during mysterious winter solstice rituals. The Druids used holly and mistletoe as symbols of eternal life, and place evergreen branches over doors to keep away evil spirits.
Late in the Middle Ages, Germans and Scandinavians placed evergreen trees inside their homes or just outside their doors to show their hope in the forthcoming spring. Our modern Christmas tree evolved from these early traditions.

And from what I've seen.
Yesterday, I saw this abomination at Lowe's.
Every 30 seconds or so, the door swings open and Santa leans out.
Much like this sample, it listed forward. So, instead of Santa leaning out to say hello, as in this picture, Santa fell forward, clinging to the door handle with one hand, face to the ground and door swinging back and forth, apparently the victim of too much eggnog. Yes, he appeared either to be vomiting, or attempting to decapitate himself with the door.
This item would be ideal to turn children off to the idea of Santa Claus. Add a puddle of vomit (and blood, perhaps, the result of Santa's ibuprofen addiction), and the right sound effects . . . then set it to operate on a motion sensor.
I strongly recommend the use of real, not plastic, vomit. Smell really helps fix memories.

Certainly you are Right, Reverend.
I do Hope that this is not taken as a sign that I am "Santa-Friendly" - I am NOT! Wait and see if I ever sit on another one's lap!
