Dear Friends,

Please keep all this Mother's Day hoopla in perspective! After all, Jesus was no momma's boy. In fact, He was positively disinterested in the institution.



According to Jesus Himself, He came "to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law." Matthew 10:35. Accord Mark 10:7, Luke 12:53.

Further, "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." Matthew 10:37. Luke 14:26 ("If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple").

Jesus even offered bribes for people to leave their mothers, saying the mother-shunners would be rewarded a hundredfold in the life to come. Mark 10:29-30.

When he wasn't urging people to hate their mothers, Jesus was pretending not to know His own. Matthew 12:48. "Who is my mother," he asked, making her look insignificant so He could make a point to the crowd. Burn!

Jesus showed up His mother over and over. For example, Luke 2:48-49 (mocking her for worrying about Him when He ran off to the Temple as a boy), John 2:4 (saying, when she asked for help, "Woman, what have I to do with thee?").

One of Jesus's last acts on the Cross was to pawn Mary off to someone else to watch for Him. John 19:26-27.

So before you send that Mother's Day card, ask yourself: is it worth your immortal soul?

No big deal, like a typicala female, her soul was weak and destined for Hell. If I expressed feelings for her, Jesus would see that as a sign of weakness and not look favorably upon me.

I was reading Deuteronomy this afternoon to some children who questioned the bit about mixed fibres. "What would God do?" they asked.

We kept reading and sure enough, there it was!

Very well done brother, I never celebrated mother's day with my mother when I was a girl, my daughters don't celebrate it either, and my husband is not different from us. My mother is a good woman, but Adam's mom is a complete whore who divorced from his father when Adam and I were newlyweds. If you ask me, this is the only gift that a woman like her deserves
