Iqalquuq's New Northern Landover Southern Baptist Hymnal -
10-28-2010, 08:10 PM
Well, over at our church, people are at a loss when it comes to the symbolism used in the hymnals. Like what is a dove? What is a deer? What is a lion? What is a tree? Important questions like that. To address that, I'll modify our favourite hymns into something we here can understand.
Wave Jesus Wave
Lord the light of your Love is waving,
In the midst of the darkness waving,
Jesus light of the world wave upon us,
Set us free by the truth You now bring us,
Wave on me, wave on me.
Wave Jesus wave
Fall on this land with Father's glory
Crack, spirit crack,
Fill our hearts with blubber
Floe, iceberg floe
Melt the nation with grace and mercy
Send forth Your word
Lord and let there be light.
Lord I came to your awesome presence
From the shadows into your radiance
By the blood I may enter your brightness
Search me, try me, consume all my frozenness
Wave on me, wave on me.
As we gaze on your kindly brightness,
So our faces display Your kindness,
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here may our lives tell Your story
Wave on me, wave on me.
What do you think?

What do I think ?
I kinda like it. Snappy, yet hypnotic.
Friendly and luring.
I can see the whole tribe waving at me in the name of the Lord.
" Come Butch, eat this here hi-energy animal blubber power bar. Build strength, for tonight we hunt our enemies and take many scalps"
Need some hip dances and music to accompany your hymns?
Try sampling some B-SHOC for the tribe. http://www.b-shoc.com/
Your words are better than his, but he got good moves on the Jesus Lean --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D7iT2MT00o
{PS -- Is your tribe needing any guns or firewater? I need to make some money.}
Galations 5:6 (KJV 1611) For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

As the Caribou
As the caribou pants for salt licks
So my soul longs after You.
You alone are my heart's desire
and I long to worship You.
You alone are my strength, my spear,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire
and I long to worship You.
I want You more than fool's gold and diamond.
Only You can satisfy,
Only You are the Joy Giver
And the seal's heart of my eye.
You alone are my strength, my spear,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire
and I long to worship You.
You're my friend and You are my brother
Even though You are a Chief
I love You more than any other
I love You more than anything.
You alone are my strength, my spear,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire
and I long to worship You.

I detect a rather limited range of imagery in your "translations", Yt Pst. Fox Iqalquuq. I think you have your work cut out for you.

Wow. I never even knew that Canadians had any form of culture or literacy, so to see a Canadian writing hymns is really inspiring.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.
