I'm confused. How would you believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ if you don't know what they are?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Going to Church, nodding off and drooling is not attending, friend.
Attending Church is participating in an out crying of the absolute Love for Jesus. Reading all of the Bible. Living by the Word of God.

Freedom means voting for Donald Trump!
To most "Christians" The Bible is like a license agreement. They just scroll to the bottom and click "I agree". All those "Christians" will burn in Hell!

I only saw one question, "Who wrote Proverbs?"
I assume your Google is broken.
Quote:
The English title of the book is simply the translation of the Hebrew title, Mishle Shlomo -- Proverbs of Solomon.
. . .
Obviously, of course, not everything in the Book of Proverbs was written by Solomon, since some sections explicitly name another author. Only Proverbs 1:1-24:22 was written by Solomon.
Proverbs 24:23-34 are attributed to "the Wise".
Proverbs 25:1-29:27 are Solomon's, but they were collected and recorded by "Hezekiah's men".
Proverbs 30:1-33 was written by Agur, who is otherwise unknown in scripture.
Proverbs 31:1-31 was written by Lemuel, also unknown elsewhere in scripture.
|
The portion you questioned was in Proverbs 1, a portion of the Book of Proverbs directly ascribed to Solomon himself.

Friend, a bump on a log see's its' surroundings but has no idea it is merely a bump on a log. A book made from that log holds knowledge. Think about it.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

so first off, thank you for the interesting quote. i like to read things like this to challenge my mind. are you saying I'm like a bump on a log because i see what is going on in my christian belief, but cant comprehend it? and that i grew off of the log of of gods knowledge?
thats just my interpretation and it might be wrong, but i do understand "most" of the stories discussed in my church. some may be a bit over my head but i feel i get the gist of it. by the way, i go to an episcopal church if anyone was wondering.

Given the fact that your eternal soul is at stake--you can either spend eternity praising God for His Perfection and serving Him, or spend it being burned alive forever in His Lake of Fire--why do you think it a good idea to just listen to what one preacher has to say, instead of reading the Word of God for yourself?
I'd be willing to bet that if you were learning how to operate a nuclear reactor, you'd not just sort-of listen to one teacher and "get the gist of it", you'd study the manual closely and consult with experts . . . and that's just to avoid killing yourself!

Maybe Jesus will kill you before you get much older.

No, it doesn't, but not having read the Bible makes you less informed, and according to the faith you profess, being less informed can have eternal (and dire) consequences.

66 books in the Bible, 2 books a day (about an hour's worth of reading) and you'll be done in a month. It's shorter than Harry Potter, even.

I didn't say He'd kill you for not reading the Bible. He could kill you for any reason.
Do you think these two young ladies thought God was about to kill them?
Quote:
ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - A train hauling coal derailed on a bridge in this city's historic district, killing two college students who had been drinking together and hanging out on the tracks. Nearly two dozen railroad cars flipped over, including some that fell onto vehicles in a parking lot below the bridge, officials said.
It appears the students, both 19, were crushed by falling coal which also toppled onto vehicles in a parking lot below the bridge, CBS Washington affiliate WNEW reports.
The two girls posted photos and comments from what appeared to be the bridge shortly before the train derailed around midnight Monday, according to Twitter feeds with the same names as the victims.
"Looking down on old ec," wrote Rose Louese Mayr, who posted an image of downtown Ellicott City.
|
They weren't 20 yet. They were planning on heading back to college the next day. God had other plans.
Since I know you will ask . . . God is all-knowing and all-powerful. Surely you have learned that much from your Episcopalian priest, right?
This means God knew these two girls would die, and He had the ability to stop it. He chose not to stop it; therefore, He decided they would die. In effect, He killed them.
And He may well kill you tomorrow. Maybe a car accident. Maybe a trip down the stairs. How do you know? You don't.
Yet you laugh, and think you can put off your salvation while you play on the Internet instead.

interesting rebuttal. since god knows everything, doesn't he know that i am telling the truth? so even if he kills me, he will have known that my intention was to read the bible, and therefore making me fit to go to heaven. not saying all you have to do is read the bible to get to heaven. actually in that case, why would he kill me if all i wanted was to get more out of reading the bible anyway. he knows that i will, so he wont kill me right? just a question.

Planning to read the Bible doesn't get you into Heaven any more than planning to obey the law keeps you out of prison.
Obeying every one of God's Commands gets you into Heaven.
You don't know what those commands are. God knows that you have decided that other things are more important to you than learning what He expects of you. You are putting video games and fun ahead of God.
Why wouldn't He kill you? You obviously don't love Him and live for Him, you love yourself and live for your hedonistic, sin-filled deathstyle.

the difference is that when you go to prison but you are innocent, they believe otherwise. god already knows that you are innocent. my point being that it is not bad to wait 4 years to read the bible. its not like I'm 75 and thinking "hmm, i should read the bible so i go to heaven," I'm thinking "hmm why don't i wait till i get older to understand the bible better when i read it." is that anything to argue over? and waht is a hedonistic deathstyle?
