How to deny the Bible and refuse to obey God while claiming to be "Christian"

So far I have encountered 6 ways of denying the Bible and refusing to obey God while claiming to be "Christian":

1) Simply cherry-picking. The most stupid way, it is just choosing what you want to believe and dismiss everything else. Mostly used by the hoards of "God loves everyone" and "You cannot judge me" type.
2) The "general mankind" argument, a.k.a "That does not apply to me". When you point out something that the Bible says, they say "but that was directed to mankind as a whole. As long as the human race is doing it, I can avoid it". For example, as long as human race is multiplying, I don't have to have children, no matter what God said in Genesis 1:28
3) The "specific person"argument: complementary with the previous one, is applied when they refuse to obey a command from God because "He said it to an specific person in the bible and not to everyone of us" For example, in Timothy 2:15 they will say "That only applies to Eve".
4) The "different meaning in Hebrew" argument: another advanced way of twisting scripture is to deny the meaning in English, by saying that the origin of the word had a different sense. This is used by "scholar" Christians, who happen to base their opinions in what some jew says on the meaning of the original words.
5) The "perished" argument: pretty much used by Catholics, but also by other Christians, they mean to say that God written the Old Testament just for old societies from 3000 years ago, and not for us. The Catholics say that Jesus changed everything (no matter if He says in the New Testament that he came to fulfill) Of course, this fallacy implies that God is changing all the time, and not the same; or that God has written a book with an expiration date.
6) The "it does not mean that" argument: Even when it says "killing" they will say is a "metaphor", if it says "little" they will say "not so". Adding extra scriptural interpretations to what it says in the Bible, they look to fit the teachings of God into their own beliefs; it should be the other way.

Of course there are much more ways, this are the ones that I have encountered and identified. It is really difficult to find your path to salvation when you find this false Christians. I thank God I have found this forum filled with True Christians!

Thank you, dear friend. This is very impressive and awe-inspiring and we can see examples of these sorry attempts to dismiss Jesus every minute on our Godly Forum.

If I may, I'd really like to add one item that I find most repulsive: 7) the "Jesus/God is supposed to" argument. This is usually presented as "Isn't Jesus supposed to be about love/marshmallows/kittens/gay marriage, etc." This is one of the most preposterous ways of denying the True Nature™ of God!

And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Jesus is not "supposed to" be anything. He decides. I'm expecting severe punishments for anyone combining the words "supposed to" with "Jesus" in any text published after The Donald becomes King.

This is similar to a list I have on my wall in the Mayor's Office. People would be surprised to learn how often denominations want to start new churches in Freehold. I guess because it is a wealthy community with lots of children they see opportunity.

So, their first stop is to call on the Mayor to present their proposal. I ask them a few questions. Then I go the list and point to one or more of the false "Christian" claims their denomination is making.

I explain false "Christian" churches as not welcome in Freehold and usher them to the door.

I'm pretty sure that this is a summation of the basic principles of Unitarianism, which was set loose by the Devil to control Christians in much the same way we try to control mosquitos by releasing sterile mosquitos.

Thanks brothers for your words on this. I think that in my first post, I did not explain why each of this fallacies are fallacies, and wrong, and will lead you to Hell. Then I saw the post by Brother Elmer G. White, and of course was marvelled. So I will try to explain here:

1) Simply cherry-picking: This has been covered extensively here. First, the scripture:

John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments
Luke 6:46 - And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

And many more. God is telling us to obey everything He says. Not some parts, the parts that we like. Imagine if you were to obey only the secular laws that you agree with. In front of the judge, will you say "Yeah, your honour, I know I have killed someone. But I have followed all the other laws, so I'm expecting to get a free ticket home today". No way, my friend, even if you only masturbate or use mixed fabric or something you think it might not hurt nobody, that is the path to Hell.

Worst: you may do things that you consider "good" (like tolerate other religions, or not being homophobic or xenophobic) and those "good" things you do will lead you to hell.

The solution: read the entire Bible before doing anything else in your life.

2) The "general mankind" argument: Well, this is a little more advanced. But still follows the same logic as cherry picking.

When confronted with something that they do not like, they will say that is not for them, but for the mankind as a whole.
But then, who says which are the laws applied to "mankind" and the laws applied to an "individual"? What happens if all individuals stop doing what they do? Who gets punished?

Example: mankind is multiplying. A lot. More than what some of us would like, specially the lesser races. That does not mean that we can stop multiplying. If all of us stop, then we will not follow God's command in Genesis. So who decides who can stop and who must continue?

If some of us could stop, God would have written "Go and multiply. Or not. Your call" But He did not, did He?

Again, in front of a judge: "Your honour, I was going at 100 mph, and the limit is 55. I know. But everybody else was going under 55, so nobody was at real risk". Nope, I don't think so. You'll be fined.

The solution: if it is in the Bible, it applies to you.

3) The "specific person"argument: Well this is easy. Why would God have written a complete paragraph on something, directed ONLY to one person? That does not have any sense. He could have appeared in front of that person (He used to do that before the written word) and tell Him/Her "Hi fellow, don't do that. Just you. The rest of the people can do it. Why? Because I tell you so".

Is not like the Bible is short, so He had to add a few lines telling some short stories, so we can delight on His narrative. No: what Onan was punished for applies to ALL OF US. And the same with every person that appears in the Bible.

The solution: again if it is in the Bible, it applies to you.

4) The "different meaning in Hebrew" argument: Well, for using this argument, you have to believe that the people that killed Christ is better at understanding the word of God than the people that loved Jesus so much that translated the whole Bible to God's new language, American. The logic is flawled.

The solution: if to find a way to keep doing what you are doing you have to look for help from the Jews, you are doing it wrong.

5) The "perished" argument: Another easy to see fallacy. In this case, the implication is that God wrote something with an expiration date, as I have said before. That could not be. If that would be the case, there would be marks in the Bible that would advertise this. For example, God would have written: "If a man is found lying with another man, they both should be stoned to death. Until 2011, when they can start getting married, and organize a parade in San Francisco"
And there are examples of God telling us that some things are only for certain moments: some of the Laws in Leviticus apply only for the Tabernacle (no matter that Orthodox Jews still abide them... how ridiculous they are!)

The solution: remember that the Bible is eternal

6) The "it does not mean that" argument: Well, if God named you His official spokesman, please show us proof. Moses had to gather all the people in a mountain and show God (He was mist, or something) Do that.

Unless you do that, thinking that the word of God needs explanation is hubris, superbia, or in american, pride. You think only you understand the Lord, and moreover, He did not mean what it says, but something else. If God would have meant something else, He would have written something else. God does not need you to explain.

The solution: reading, not interpreting. Obeying, not thinking.

I do not know how I could overlook the 8th way to deny the Bible.I will call it the "Personal Experience" way.
It is more often than not that we find a person saying "I am a Christian and I do/don't do this". Or the second version that says "I know a couple of Christians that do/ do not this and they are True Christians"
Well guess what: you or them are wrong, and are not True Christians. For being so, you have to do everything that the Bible says.
Being a True Christian is not a vague lifestyle; it is a serious and strict group of rules that you have to follow and it is not open to debate. Otherwise you are going to hell.

Free thinking is not a good thing if you want to go to Heaven.
