Do you have a list of sins ?

It would make my life so much easier if I had an alphabetical list I could carry around with me, so that I can know instantly if my thoughts / actions /words have offended God ?

I mean.....how do I know what is a sin ?

There must be more than the Seven Deadly ones or should I ignore them as they were invented by the Cathlicks ?

It appears that moses & The Lord had the right idea with the Ten Commandments but that was 4,000+ years ago and media was bulky & heavy. In those days it would have been impractical to give everyone a load of stone tablets with hundreds of sins on 'em.

But the world has moved on....it's 2009....printing presses, telephones, computers and all manner of crazy sh*t

I bet you could fit thousands & thousands & thousands of sins on an iPod Nano.

An updated modern list that included sins not possible in Biblical times would be very welcomed too. eg sins involving vibrating Mobile telephones or sins involving Internet Forums

Please be more helpful than just telling me to read the bible......it's er.... very big and rather dry in places (imho)

There is a full and comprehensive list of sins in the Bible. Just read from Genesis 1:1 until Revelation 22:21, that should cover it.

Hi Guys, just joined the forum and gotta say I love it. So this thread is where I thought I would start off, heathen basher, we should get together some time and beat the crap out of country folk, being that a heathen means person of the heath or a country dweller (we'll just glaze over what the bible says in luke 22:51, its not an important verse anyways). And Pastor Ezekial I see there that you put the stud in bible study, well golly I sure am glad pride isn't a sin (Job 40:20, psalms 37:11, 131:1, 138:6, 147:6, 149:4, proverbs 3:34, 8:13, 10:8, 11:2, the list goes on and on) and I have to agree those people who disagree with you are idiots and we should insult them for it (proverbs 17:5). Gosh I hope you will all soon be my friends (Matthew 7:15, Romans 16:17-18, 2 John 1:10-11). Talk to you later guys and remember hate and judge everyone around exactly like the bible says not to do.

And Luke 22:51? Um, here's what it says - "And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him." Meaning, Jesus asked Peter not to attack the guard as He was supposed to go on to die. Remember that part?

But you don't really care. You know it's just a joke, and if the situation were reversed you would call us judgmental if we said that to someone. You are clutching at straws because you are upset that we don't lie about what the Bible says like you do.

Proverbs 17:5? It says not to mock the POOR. Am I missing something here? Were we making fun of anyone because they are poor?

Let's see some other things Proverbs teaches us:

Three verses that clearly state to judge other people and not associate with them if you find them to not be to God's standards. You don't seem to be consistent in your own argument. Here's the problem - I think it's okay to judge. You think it's not okay to judge, and yet you judge us. That makes YOU a hypocrite.

Matthew 7:15 - Do we come towards people acting like sheep? No, in fact we are rather abrasive and in your face. Jesus is warning us that those people who go on yammering about peace and love are actually liars and the real dangers.

Romans 16:18 - do we go around making "fair speeches"? The NIV translates it as "smooth talk and flattery". Do WE ever try to flatter people? No, we always try to be very upfront.

2 John 1:10-11. What is "this doctrine"? Well, let's move up a few verses - "7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist."

We are always quite adamant that Jesus came in the flesh.

1. Hate.
Doesn't the Bible say to love your neighbor?

Yes. Does that mean to lie to him and tell him what he wants to hear? No.


It means to tell him the truth, and warn him to flee from the wrath to come. As we are commanded in Leviticus 19:17, "Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him." Here, loving your neighbour is defined as rebuking him, and not allowing sin to come upon him. Further, we have never suggested that we don't love our neighbor. We're not saying "We hate people" - we're saying "God hates people." The purest, most exalted form of love is to tell people the truth, especially about weighty matters such as life and death, sin, righteousness, judgment to come, Heaven and Hell.



But remember, David said: "Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? Am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them mine enemies." Psalm 139:21, 22. David hated God's enemies with a perfect, spiritual hatred (as opposed to the fickle human emotion of hatred), just as all of God's elect do.



2. Judging. If you think the Bible forbids judging others, then you haven't read it. The Bible forbids superficial judgment based on appearances and it forbids hypocrisy, but it does not forbid judgment. On the contrary, the saved are commanded to pass judgment on others.

Lev 19:15 In righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

Jn 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

I Cor 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

I Cor 5:12-13 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

I Cor 6:2-3 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Liberal Christians frequently take Matthew 7:1 out of context by claiming that it is prohibition against judging others. The full context is Matthew 7:1-5, and it is a prohibition against hypocrisy.

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Our job is to find folks who are lost and to try to get them saved. That job would be made a lot harder if I were unable to judge who is lost and in need of salvation.
