LSD finally killed Albert Hoffman: -
04-30-2008, 12:32 PM
Hippies everywhere are going to shed a tear for this Dr. Death, but True Christians know the tragedies that LSD has wrought on the American family. How many familes have been destroyed due to the un-necessary suicides of their children jumping out of windows high on acid? How many spaced out hippies have been lost to their parents because of their acid habits? Children, these drugs may seem fun at first, but they will destroy you life. DON'T DO THEM!!
Quote:
Albert Hofmann
Last Updated: 30/04/2008
Albert Hofmann, who died on Tuesday aged 102, synthesised lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) in 1938 and became the first person in the world to experience a full-blown acid trip.
Albert Hofmann
The day, April 19 1943, became known among aficionados as “Bicycle Day” as it was while cycling home from his laboratory that he experienced the most intense symptoms. Hofmann was working as a research chemist in the laboratory of the Sandoz Company (now Novartis) in Basel, Switzerland, where he was involved in studying the medicinal properties of plants. This eventually led to the study of the alkaloid compounds of ergot, a fungus which forms on rye.
In the Middle Ages, ergot was implicated in period outbreaks of mass poisonings, producing symptoms in two characteristic forms, one gangrenous (ergotismus gangraenosus) and the other convulsive (ergotismus convulsivus). Popular names such as “mal des ardents,” “ignis sacer,” “heiliges Feuer,” or “St Anthony’s fire” — refer to the gangrenous form of the disease.
Hofmann’s studies led to many new discoveries such as Hydergine, a medicament for improvement of circulation and cerebral function and Dihydergot, a circulation and blood pressure stabilising medicine. His interest in synthesising LSD was stimulated at first by the hope that it might also be useful as a circulatory and respiratory stimulant. But when his molecule, known as LSD-25, was tested on animals, no interesting effects were observed, though the research notes recorded that the beasts became “restless” during narcosis. The substance was dismissed as of no interest and dropped from Sandoz’s research programme.
Five years later, acting on some intuition, Hofmann decided to resynthesise LSD. In his autobiography, LSD, My Problem Child (1979), he recalled that in the final stage of the synthesis, he was interrupted by some unusual sensations. In a note to the laboratory’s director, he reported “a remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness. At home I lay down and sank into a not unpleasant intoxicated-like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination. "In a dreamlike state, with eyes closed, I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures, extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colours. After some two hours this condition faded away.”
Hofmann concluded that he must have accidentally breathed in or ingested some laboratory material and assumed LSD was the cause. To test the theory he waited until the next working day, Monday April 19 1943, and tried again, swallowing 0.25 of a milligram. Forty minutes later, his laboratory journal recorded “dizziness, feeling of anxiety, visual distortions, symptoms of paralysis, desire to laugh”. Unable to write any more, he asked his assistant to take him home by bicycle. “On the way home, my condition began to assume threatening forms. "Everything in my field of vision wavered and was distorted as if seen in a curved mirror. I also had the sensation of being unable to move from the spot. Nevertheless, my assistant later told me that we had travelled very rapidly.” Back home, when a friendly neighbour brought round some milk, he perceived her as a “malevolent, insidious witch” wearing “a lurid mask”. After six hours of highs and lows, the effects subsided.
Sandoz, keen to make a profit from Hofman’s discovery, gave the new substance the trade name Delysid and began sending samples out to psychiatric researchers. By 1965 more than 2,000 papers had been published offering hope for a range of conditions from drug and alcohol addiction to mental illnesses of various sorts. But the fact that it was cheap and easy to make left it open to abuse and from the late 1950s onwards, promoted by Dr Timothy Leary and others, LSD became the recreational drug of choice for alienated western youth.
An outbreak of moral panic, combined with a number of accidents involving people jumping to their deaths off high buildings thinking they could fly, led governments around the world to ban LSD. Research also showed that the drug taken in high doses and in inappropriate settings, often caused panic reactions. For certain individuals, a bad trip seemed to be the trigger for full-blown psychosis.
Hofmann was disappointed when his discovery was removed from commercial distribution. He remained convinced that the drug had the potential to counter the psychological problems induced by “materialism, alienation from nature through industrialisation and increasing urbanisation, lack of satisfaction in professional employment in a mechanised, lifeless working world, ennui and purposelessness in wealthy, saturated society, and lack of a religious, nurturing, and meaningful philosophical foundation of life”.
Albert Hofmann was born at Baden, Switzerland, on January 11 1906, the elder of two children. Having graduated from Zürich University with a degree in chemistry in 1929 he took a doctorate on the gastro-intestinal juice of the vineyard snail. After leaving university, he went to work for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals where he researched the medicinal properties of the Mediterranean squill (Scilla maritima), before moving on to the study of
Claviceps purpurea (ergot).
As a result of the use of LSD as a recreational drug Sandoz found itself bombarded with demands for information from regulatory bodies along with demands for statements after accidents, poisonings, criminal acts and so forth from the press. For scientists unaccustomed to the glare of publicity, it became a headache. “I would rather you hadn’t discovered LSD,” Hofmann’s managing director told him. In the end the decision was taken to stop all further production. Hoffmann laid some of the blame at the door of Dr Timothy Leary. In his autobiography, he described meeting Leary in 1971 in the railway station snack bar in Lausanne. Hofmann began by voicing his regret that Leary’s experiments had effectively killed off academic research into LSD and took Leary to task for encouraging its recreational use among young people. Leary was unabashed. “He maintained that I was unjustified in reproaching him for the seduction of immature persons to drug consumption,” Hofmann recalled, on the ground that American teenagers “with regard to information and life experience, were comparable to adult Europeans” and able to make up their own minds.
Hofmann continued to work at Sandoz until 1971 when he retired as Director of Research for the Department of Natural Products. In addition to his discovery of LSD, he was also the first to synthesize psilocybin (the active constituent of “magic mushrooms”) in 1958. He also discovered the hallucinogenic principles of Ololiuqui (Morning Glory), lysergic acid amide and lysergic acid hydroxyethylamide.
In retirement, Hofmann served as a member of the Nobel Prize Committee. He was a Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, and a Member of the International Society of Plant Research and of the American Society of Pharmacognosy. In 1988 the Albert Hofmann Foundation was established “to assemble and maintain an international library and archive devoted to the study of human consciousness and related fields.” He disapproved of the appropriation of LSD by the youth movements of the 1960s, but regretted that its potential uses had not been explored. He had been due to speak at the World Psychedelic Forum in March, but ill health prevented him from attending.
Albert Hofmann was married and had three children.

You're missing the point. Sure it took God over sixty years but God got Hoffman in the end. LSD didn't save Hoffman only Jesus could have. Now Hoffman is burning in Hell.
Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

Of course God got him, nobody lives forever. He was destined to die some day. Hoffman always believed his products would one day cure diseases but at the end it was one big failure and I believe that was already a big punishment for him.

No friend, failure is not a big enough punishment for Hoffman. Illness is God's punishment for sin. By seeking to cure illness Hoffman was seeking to thwart the will of God. Eternal damnation is the only appropriate punishment for Hoffman's sin.

yes, he made some stuff that wasn't really the best thing around. I never believed LSD could actually cure anything, it was too violent and unpredictable to begin with, he tried to fine-tune it but never succeeded. How does one feel when he sacrifice his whole life for something that fails in the end??

Good question. How will you feel when you've sacrificed your whole life for mocking Jesus, only to have Him drop-kick you into the lake of fire? I urge you in Christian love to think about that.
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

Hey, I didn't mock Jesus in any way. Why such a comment??
Hoffman had it coming for sure, I can't begin to imagine how many people winded up in mental institutions due to his invention. Although it wasn't originally his plan it caused a lot of damage (and will keep doing that into the future). I'm glad I never started doing drugs altogether.

We were told by the liberal media that hippie leader Abbie Hoffman died 20 years ago. Does this mean he f aked his own death to avoid federal prosecution for his role in founding running a terrorist organization known as "The Chicago 7"?

Upon request I will cite scripture for all these facts in God's Holy Word.

OK, I'll tell the pharmacies not to sell any medicine to LBC members.
After all, "illness is God's punishment, and to try curing it is to thwart God." Right?

Y' know Mr Martin, sometimes I think when you write this stuff, that there's just a little independent part of your brain that tells you that Landover is biblically correct on many matters. (In fact we are correct on all, but humility would prevent my mentioning that.) I sense Muhamad moving towards the Mountain that is Landover.
I hope so. You're an earnest enough chap; you know that Landover's Church and congregation have a welcome second to none for such as you. The lost sheep returning to the fold - think about it...it'd make a great story.

Why yes, you are correct in us both being anti-abortion, anti-assisted suicide, anti-euthanaisa, anti-embryonic stem cell research, and anti-cloning. You're also correct in saying Bush is a good president and McCain will be just about as good. That's pretty much it though.
P.S. I can read your invisible ink.
P.P.S. Do you think I'll "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee"?

The man was a menace. He walked around with this droplet dispenser and would spike any cup of tea or coffee lying around.
I can assure you I have never been the same since he invited me to morning tea in 1955.
Exodus 22:18 says, "Suffer not a witch to live." Deuteronomy 18:10 says, "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch."

And what makes you the expert on the history of LSD? Do you manufacture it as a cheap way to pay for your prostitution habit?

Mr Martin, or if I may, Thomas, were you to arrive at Landover, bereft of the trappings of your present apostate church, there would be no sleeping here! Why, the celebrations, with you as guest of honor, would continue until past dawn. There's a small house (9 bedrooms, library, pool -indoor and outdoor -games room, fully equipped kitchen, private cinema, etc.) waiting with your name over the door. As you have no wife to bring, there'd be no fuss or bother with the decor.

That hesitating reply, for us here at Landover, became words of hope.
This page gives a rough idea of the beliefs of Landover Baptist Church
Our ministries are here; in which would you be interested?
Clearly Catlix are not allowed anywhere near Landover for insurance purposes (theirs not ours). You would be required to write to the vicar of Rome (PO Box 666, Vatican City, Vatican) resigning your position in the apostate church and publishing that letter on these forums. In that letter you would express your new found and irreversible belief in - Christ, being the God of both Testaments, did not alter God’s Law one jot or tittle (save dietary in Leviticus and a few other minor changes.)
- Adult baptism, as infant baptism is pointless
- The inerrant word of KJV1611
- The freedom to marry of all members of the clergy, especially bishops, for whom it is compulsory.
- The correctness of the symbolic rather than any miraculous meaning of transubstantiation
- The dismissal of all monks and nuns
- The creation of saints by Rome being ridiculous and unsupportable
- The vicar of Rome and his minions being devoid of all authority worldly or otherwise
- The acceptance that all people are able to communicate with God directly on all matters and thus
- The pointlessness of intercession
- The acceptance of the truth of Creation, The Flood, The Tower of Babel, Jonah, Daniel, Shadrach, etc., as laid out in KJV1611
- The lack of authority of the Apocrypha
- The 10 Commandments as laid down by the Baptist church
- The relegation of Mary, mother of Christ, to no more than that
- The opposition to all display of graven images and the reverence of relics
- Salvation being by Faith alone and that works are of little or no account and hence
- All adherents to other religions and atheists are destined for Hell regardless of works
- Once Saved, always Saved
Anyway, the list goes on see how you get on with the above.
Always remember that security at Landover is second to none. We have very special facilities for bringing those involved in cult worship back to their rightful minds.

If he'd lie about the date of his death by 20 years, what else might he be lying about? Damnfool druggies would probably argue that the Years of Our Lord are just a manmade concept imposed on the ineffable flow of time and space, or some such nonsense.

If you're having that much difficulty getting to sleep, you could just try munching on one of those rohypnol-laced wafers you serve up to the altarboys?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

At the time that Hoffman made this stuff the word hippy didn't exist, let alone a movement. Hoffman performed experimental trials, he didn't want to make some wacko movement.

I don't know what possibly is the importance of this, he wasn't Abbie Hoffman because Albert Hofmann was 30 years older than Abbie and Abbie didn't research chemical compounds but was a political activist.
