To be Christian means to be Christ-like. There is nothing Christ-like about taking anothers life just to save your own. Is their life worth less than the life of your family? Are they not just as loved by God as you? Is their life worth less than your country? Is their life worth less than your freedom?

No. God loves us, all of us. God forgave us when we deserved death. He took away the punishment for our transgressions. If we do not forgive our own transgressors in the same way, how then can we represent God's love to the world?

The Bible says to imitate the life of Christ here on earth, and Christ never killed those who threatened His safety and the safety of His disciples. They ended up dead too.

But what did they say? "To live is Christ and to die is gain." Death is gain, my friend.

Jesus says to love enemies, not kill them. He says that God is "kind unto the unthankful and to the evil." This means that God is kind to the evil, as we should also be, as "the children of the highest." We are to be merciful as God is.

And then He begins to give explain the New Covenant...

Note how he says "these commandments." Here are the commandments he presents in the paragraphs immediately following.

"Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment." Matthew 5:21-22

It is a sin even to be angry without a cause.

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil." Matthew 5:38

He effectively replaces the Old Covenant law of "eye for eye, tooth for tooth." Leviticus 24:20

10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Once again, out of context. The sword Jesus is referring to here is the sword of the spirit, which divides families, and causes children to put their families to death.

A great many of early Christians martyrs were burned at the stake for their beliefs. Sometimes it was their own family members that killed them. Most of Christ's disciples were killed this way, being martyred for their faith, as true Christians should not hesistate to do.

What About Jesus' Command to Buy a Sword?
Some would argue that Luke 22:36-38 justifies joining an organization of the world whose purpose it is to "defend" a nation by killing those which it views as politically opposing it.

The verse says the following, "Then He [Jesus] said to them [His disciples], 'But now he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garments and buy one. For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: 'And He was numbered with the transgressors.' For the things concerning Me have an end.' So they said, 'Lord, look, here are two swords.' And He said to them; 'It is enough.'"

Let us agree upon what these verses do plainly teach. First, clearly Jesus does say that his disciples could have swords, and in fact He does command them to buy a sword. However Jesus gives us the reason he gave that command. He says, "For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: 'And He was numbered with the transgressors.'" So, what Jesus is saying is that he must be numbered with the transgressors, so he says in effect, 'go ahead and buy swords so that you will be considered rebels-insurrectionists-transgressors when the religious leaders come toarrest me'.

In this way, Jesus will fulfill the prophesy about Messiah being numbered with the transgressors. It is that simple and this fits the context of that passage the best.The most important principle in properly interpreting the scripture is context and cross reference with other scripture. The context of this passage is NOT some political statement, nor some statement about defending a nation. Rather, it is a statement about Jesus fulfilling Messianic prophesy about being numbered with transgressors.

When other's want to kill us for loving the Lord Jesus, then we allow them to send us Home, for to be with our Father is our heart's desire.

What you have cited here is an account of Joshua, a man living under the Old Covenant. Under this old covenant, the Jews were permitted to own slaves, kill women and children, and all sorts of terrible atrocoties to mankind. But God gave them permission to do so, and He physically spoke to them on many occassions.

Under the New Covenant, however, the rules have changed, and the Old Covenant has been made obsolete.

"But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises." Hebrews 8:6

The law we follow now is the law of love. And love "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Romans 13:10

You see? Love is the fufilling of the law. Following Christians do not work ill to our neighbors in Iraq, for "love worketh no ill to His neighbor." We obey Jesus, and he said "Love your enemy." He also said, "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." John 15:10

So by loving the terrorists we are following His commands, and therefore showing that we love Him.

Correction. God hates sin. That's why there is a Hell. People are not evil, but they are capable of doing evil things, just as they are capable of doing bad things. Only God can judge them as evil or good, and that will be on the last day.

That is why the Bible says, "Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God."

When Jesus comes back, then He will judge those people as being good or evil. Till then, you are to "judge nothing before the time." Judging actions, decidind what's right and wrong is fine, but do not judge people.

I'll give an example. When you say, "You lied, you should not have done that," then you have spoken well. But if you say, "You fool, you are a liar," you have made a judgement on the person. That is wrong. Jesus said,

"whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." Matthew 5:22

Muslims are not evil. Their faith teaches them to do evil things. Sin without repentance will cause them to go into hell.

However, you are wrong when you say "Every Muslim on the planet will go to hell." Not all Muslims that are Muslims today will be Muslims tomorrow. They may be saved, largely due to your love that you have shown. All humans desire love, and that is why the Bible says, "God is love."

When you show enemies love through your actions, you show them God. And if people desire love, then they will desire God also, if you show them what true love looks like. This is why Jesus said to love your enemy.
