Files Show Dolan Sought to Protect Church Assets
Quote:
Files released by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee on Monday reveal that in 2007, Cardinal Timothy F. Dolan, then the archbishop there, requested permission from the Vatican to move nearly $57 million into a cemetery trust fund to protect the assets from victims of clergy sexual abuse who were demanding compensation.
Cardinal Dolan, now the archbishop of New York, has emphatically denied seeking to shield church funds as the archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009. He reiterated in a statement Monday that these were “old and discredited attacks.”
However, the files contain a 2007 letter to the Vatican in which he explains that by transferring the assets, “I foresee an improved protection of these funds from any legal claim and liability.” The Vatican approved the request in five weeks, the files show.
* * *
But the documents lift the curtain on his role as a workaday church functionary concerned with safeguarding assets, persuading abusive priests to leave voluntarily in exchange for continued stipends and benefits, and complying with Rome’s sluggish canonical procedures for dismissing uncooperative priests who he had long concluded were remorseless and a serious risk to children. In one case, the Vatican took five years to remove a convicted sex offender from the priesthood.

Agreed!
With millions of clergy over the vast history of The Church there were, statistically speaking, going to be a few bad apples. We have worked tirelessly to weed out the few remaining miscreants and have full confidence that the very hands of Jesus guides each and every one of us as we minister to His flock.
Bless you, my recently less reluctant recalcitrant,

Next up, we have a Priest from Pennsylvainnia found with a 15 year old boy, pantless, of course.
Quote:
Police: Pennsylvania priest caught with pantless 15-year-old on college campus
(CNN) -- A Catholic priest in Pennsylvania has been charged with molesting a teenage boy after police said he was found in a car on a college campus with a 15-year-old who was wearing no pants, according to a police criminal complaint filed Friday in Lackawanna County.
The Rev. W. Jeffrey Paulish was charged with one felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one felony count of unlawful contact with a minor after Dunmore police say they found him and the boy on Thursday in a car on the Worthington Scranton campus of Penn State University, according to the complaint.
Paulish, 56, of Scranton, was also charged with three misdemeanor counts -- indecent contact with a person under 16, indecent exposure and corruption of a minor. He is being held at the Lackawanna County jail on $50,000 bail.
Dunmore police officers say they discovered Paulish and the boy after responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed with the court.
Allegedly Paulish told police he was at the campus working on his homily when he met the teen, who he said was in emotional distress, and began counseling him.
According to the affidavit, he later admitted to police that he had arranged the meeting with the teen through the "casual encounters" section of Craigslist. Paulish told investigators that he had asked the boy three times if he was over the age of 18, the affidavit said.
A telephone message left by CNN for Paulish's attorney, Bernard J. Brown, was not immediately returned Friday.
Paulish has been removed from his post at the Prince of Peace parish and has been suspended from acting in the capacity of a priest, according to a statement released by the Diocese of Scranton.
The diocese pledged its cooperation with the investigation, and it called on anyone who "may have been sexually abused by Father Paulish or any member of the clergy" to notify the district attorney's office.
"I wish to acknowledge how unsettling this is to me personally and to countless others, that yet again a priest has been involved in such inappropriate, immoral and illegal behavior," the Bishop of Scranton, the Rev. Joseph Bambera, said in the statement.

In the Twin Cities, the Roman institution has had its hands full covering up for kiddy-fiddling priests and sometimes even paying them off.
Commie "news" source:
Quote:
Abuse Allegations Leave Twin Cities Archdiocese In Turmoil
The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has been rocked in recent weeks by revelations from a top-level whistle-blower. The former official says church leaders covered up numerous cases of sexual misconduct by priests and even made special payments to pedophiles.
The scandal is notable not only because of the abuse but also because it happened in an archdiocese that claimed to be a national leader in dealing with the issue.
* * *
Back in Minnesota, [Archbishop Harry] Flynn assured the faithful that the worst problems lay elsewhere and this archdiocese wasn't going to cover up abuse.
Flynn retired in 2008 and was replaced by Archbishop John Nienstedt, who hired a young canon lawyer named Jennifer Haselberger to oversee church records.
* * *
She then discovered that some abusive priests got special payments, like the Rev. Robert Kapoun, who for 14 years received nearly $1,000 a month on top of his pension.
Kapoun retired in the late '90s after admitting in court that he sexually abused boys. He now lives in a half-million-dollar lake home. Because of his history of abuse, he's supposed to be carefully monitored.
* * *
Haselberger says that for her, one of the last straws came when a priest was arrested for and convicted of sexually abusing children.
Several years earlier, Haselberger had examined the lengthy file of that priest, Curtis Wehmeyer. Documents showed he had approached young men for sex in a bookstore.
Haselberger says she gave the information to Nienstedt. Soon after, he appointed Wehmeyer pastor of two parishes.
* * *
Nienstedt has declined to be interviewed on tape.

Twin Cities Archbishop Nienstedt accused of inappropriately touching boy
Quote:
Archbishop John Nienstedt has been accused of inappropriately touching a boy, and has removed himself from public ministry while the matter is investigated, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis announced Tuesday.
The move comes after a young man alleged that Nienstedt touched his buttocks during a group photo session following a confirmation ceremony in 2009.

In Files, a History of Sexual Abuse by Priests in Chicago Archdiocese
Files released from the Archdiocese of Chicago are sure to shock even those who thought they knew about the depths of Romanist depravity.
Pastoral advisory: Please exercise caution before allowing women and children to read the following.
Quote:
CHICAGO — One priest, the Rev. William J. Cloutier, was accused of raping a boy in his summer cottage, locking the door when the 13-year-old started screaming, and then brandishing a handgun while threatening to kill him if he told anyone. Another, the Rev. Robert C. Becker, would take boys to a trailer where, they said, he slept beside them and molested them. And the Rev. Joseph R. Bennett was accused of raping a girl with the handle of a paten, a plate used to hold eucharistic bread.
Thousands of documents gleaned from the personnel files of the Archdiocese of Chicago were released to the public on Tuesday, unspooling a lurid history of abuse by priests and halting responses from bishops in the country’s third-largest archdiocese. In each case, the priests ultimately died or were ousted from ministry, and in most cases, the allegations were never proved in a criminal court. But the documents suggest that church officials were at times quite solicitous toward priests accused of abuse.

Vatican’s Pope-Protecting Swiss Guards Accused Of Secret Gay Lobby
Accusations are swirling about a secret gay cabal inside the Vatican's pope-protecting forces and how much it knew about the departure of Pope Benedict.
When Pope Benedict XVI resigned in February 2013, rumors were rampant that the alleged gay lobby was part of the reason he left the papacy. Apparently the gay lobby was so powerful it was given ample ink in a still-secret red-covered dossier presented to Benedict as part of a Vatileaks internal investigation after his butler was convicted of stealing his private papers.
The new Pope Francis even referred to the gay lobby at a June 6 meeting with Latin American prelates. “In the Curia there are holy people, truly holy people,” Francis reportedly told the Latin American delegation. “But there is also a current of corruption, also there is, it is true … They speak of a ‘gay lobby,’ and that is true, it is there.”
http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...gay-lobby.html
Fresh allegations now point to the lobby extending deep into the Swiss Guard
How deep? Only GOD knows.
And it gets better
In early January of this year, a former guard told Swiss newspaper Schweiz om Sonntag that he had been propositioned dozens of times by priests who lived and worked inside Vatican City. One, whom the unnamed guard said was particularly brazen, allegedly convinced the guard to join him for dinner only to tell him that he should be “served for dessert,” according to the Swiss paper. The former guard also told the Swiss paper he had been manhandled by various clergy who were trying to bed him.

U.N. Panel Assails Vatican Over Sexual Abuse by Priests
Quote:
GENEVA — A sharply critical United Nations panel accused the Vatican on Wednesday of putting its reputation and interests above those of children who had been sexually abused by priests. It called on the Vatican to immediately remove all known or suspected molesters from their posts and report them to civil authorities.

Human nature being what it is there will always be one or two bad apples in every orchard... even in a holy organisation like The Catholic Church!
What I think too few folks realise is that these (allegedly) occasionally offending Priests go to Confession whereupon their sins are forgiven! In the eyes of God this means a clean slate and who amongst us is in any position to deny somebody their vocation if God has given the 'all systems go' to a repentant sinner?
Clearly this (alleged and surely infrequent) behavior is unacceptable and the Church is hard at work identifying those who cross the line between a humble laying of the hands and a laying of the glands, so everyone can rest assured that those who have (allegedly) sinned in this manner will be removed from their positions of influence and brought to face justice.
Pope Francis has sent out very stern notes to all clergy and I expect these alleged transgressions, most of which date from centuries gone by, will become a part of history the likes of which will not be seen again.
Bless you, my hysterical heretics,

You won't find any bad apples in the Landover Baptist Church. And 'a bad apple' in Rome is known as a whistle-blower elsewhere. So it's true, there are very few whistle-blowers amongst Mary-worshippers.

More papist lies. This only applies to True Christians ™, not to Mary-worshippers.

Legionaries of Christ Denounce Founder, Marcial Maciel Degollado
Quote:
ROME — A Roman Catholic order whose late founder lived a double life as a pedophile and womanizer officially denounced him on Thursday and apologized to his “many victims.”
The Legionaries of Christ, which former members said was run like a secretive cult, accused the founder, the Rev. Marcial Maciel Degollado, who died in 2008, of “reprehensible and objectively immoral behavior” as head of the order from its founding in 1941 until Pope Benedict XVI removed him in 2006.
* * *
The order’s rules forbade criticizing the founder or questioning his motives.
