Can a True Christian get medical assitance? -
07-22-2018, 01:01 AM
Or he can just appeal to his faith to get cured?
I can't rememeber the link with the news about a woman who let his child die because the bible forbidds medical care.

True Christians™ recognize that that is up to God, Jesus and the Disciples to decide who gets healed, and who does not. Appealing to Faith does not guarantee a cure, but probably helpful in getting Jesus to take a look at things.
I'm not sure that the Bible forbids medical care, its that it is pretty useless without God's wondrous hand.
Mark 3:14-16
Mark 2:3-12
Mark 5:25-34
58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; 59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. 60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. 61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring k upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

Of course you can seek medical care! What's wrong with you, Fridge? If you're not feeling well, I'd love to talk to you about some nutritional supplements and homeopathic remedies that will have you looking and feeling your best in no time!

This is a very good question. While the Bible doesn't specifically prohibit seeking medical assistance, it actively promotes fervent prayer instead:
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
On the other hand, the only case when seeking medical assistance is described in the Holy Bible, it does not end up well for the patient:
2 Chronicles 16:12-13
12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians.
13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.
As you can clearly see, seeking physicians instead of seeking God when struck with a disease can lead to death. I hope that was helpful, dear.

By the way, I happen to be an independent distributor for those nutritional supplements and homeopathic remedies. I don't know if you've ever thought about owning your own business, but I can set you up with our system if you're interested.
The best part is, you can then sign up independent distributors under you, and you'll earn a commission every time they share our products with their friends and family.
How awesome is that?

These happen few times a year.
The cases show the greatest of faith. There is something very Godly about a parent who will not interfere in the Ways God chooses to deal with His Creations. It is beyond most people's faith to Trust in The Lord, which shows spiritual weakness of the worst sort.
As a younger man, I remember the late maid was always trying to bother me about one of the fruit of my loins, bleeding, or being pale and sweaty or having the botch, dropsy of the brain, quinsy, scrumpox, or winter fever, etc., etc. I was quite firm and my only answer was "I will pray for them." And, do you know, the only one to die was the one who was mauled by the Nigra Hounds, and that was so fast, I doubt The Lord had a chance to intervene.
It did turn out later that the maid called the doctor, but I feel that this in no way diminishes Gods Power and Magnificence.

Don't be confused here by a false church known as "Christian Science Church" or "Church of Christ, Scientist" founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1879.
While their ministers are known for various certified "healing" powers, and without delving into some of their more absurd beliefs, one thing should stand out here to any True Christian™. If God (Christ / Jesus) created the Universe and knows everything, why would Christ (God / Jesus) need to be a "scientist"?
Aside from obvious in the Bible (KJV1611) that women are prohibited from becoming pastors (1 Timothy 2:11–12), it takes a real leap that they should be wandering around unsupervised founding churches.
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
...and get off my lawn

I was thinking about Asa's foot rot and reading Basilissa's quote reminded me about demonic possession. Asa went to the physicians instead of to God. New age gurus tell us that demons and ill health are the same thing or mental collapse or tumors. If you would like to summon up a demon they would do that, for a fee, but would hold that whatever you think a demon is what it actually is doesn't change.
Colossians 4:14-15 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you. Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house. Luke has recorded an important testimony describing events which, for those having doubts, may be some of the most persuasive in The New Testament. In his letter to the Colossians, Paul identifies Luke as a physician and thus as a person who'd know the difference between demons and illness. New age gibberish about the authors being ignorant cannot apply to Luke and he distinguishes devils from infirmity in the following excerpt:
Luke 8:1-3 [Jesus] went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him and certain women which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, and Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance. Luke, as a doctor, knew the difference. He also knew that Jesus was able to heal AND exorcise. There seems to have been quite a lot of demon possessed women. Luke's testimony shows us that although prayer is sufficient for healing there's also a place for doctors in the Church. If requesting an elders' prayer meeting for every headache is too demanding then a physician could advise. But Asa did not do that, which is what reminded me of Luke.

My dear husband Matthew tells our children that God is a busy God, and - as Founding Father Benjamin Franklin may (or may not) have said - "God helps those who help themselves". It is up to us to take responsibility for ourselves through a combination of healthy living and constant prayer but, where necessary, medical assistance takes some of the load off Our Dear Lord's broad shoulders.
This is why comprehensive health insurance is so very important. Without it, in Godless Europe, one may fall into the hands of the socialist Death Panels of the various National "Health" Services.
