J'g:21:21: And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.
2Sa:6:14: And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
Consider the forms of dancing:
1. dancing as part of a troupe
2. dancing on your own
3. Dancing with another member of the same sex
4. Dancing with a member of the opposite sex
5. Dancing for the wrong reason
6. DancesWithoutJoy
1. may be permissible as a matter of conscience, as this may be employment and done to make others feel better - or an exhibition of happiness - as per J'gs 21:21 - a Godly pursuit.
2. is clearly OK as the verses above show
3. This is probably OK, see number 1, as long as there is no hint of homerism or lezbeanism.
4. There is no mention of this anywhere - it is thus deeply ingrained that mixed dancing is wrong - it creates lust and unholy thoughts; these are sinful.
5. This is exemplified by Salome dancing about with the Head of John The Baptist. Under no circumstances must anything like this be done - it is a travesty of dancing, it is dancing in evil joy
6. A poster on the forums - who claims to dance and is a heathen - this is a ploy to de-rail threads; induce narcoleptic feelings in True Christians and thus gain control of Landover. Resist this person at all costs, even that of your life.
