Please mind your garbage! -
06-17-2008, 03:34 AM
Dear residents of Freehold.
I received an email from one of our members concerning proper placement of garbage and recycling bins. Normally this topic would not be worthy of discussion, but this particular resident has been having problems with her neighbor blocking a parking space which he thinks is 'his' with his garbage bins. In the photo you can clearly see that the bins are in between other cars, and not in the drive area which owners usually use for their bins.
These photos should explain everything.
Please be mindful of your neighbors when placing your bins outside for collection. You might think that it is 'your' parking space, but when you are not using it it is part of the 'right of way'.
Here is an example of an alternative way to place your bin:
Quote:
Please refer to the municipal code regarding garbage bins:
Sec. 48-19. Containers. Owners, tenants, residents and keepers of places where household garbage is produced or accumulates shall drain the garbage, wrap it in paper or place it in paper sacks, then deposit the same in a closed, watertight container of a type approved by the manager of public works of not more than forty-gallon capacity. The container, provided at the expense of the owner, tenant or keeper, shall be placed in an area designated by the manager, accessible to vehicular traffic but not impeding the right of way, where the container may be conveniently emptied and the garbage removed by the garbage collector.
|
Thank you for taking a moment to view this thread. This subject should be unimportant to most, but it might be helpful just as a reminder.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

We don't have a recycling program in Freehold. Why does this idiot have a recycling bin? We're in End Times and the Rapture can happen any second. Why is he wasting his time recycling?

Apparently some residents have contracted with Cedar Rapids waste management to collect their recyclables. There is no underestimating how gullible people can be. Did you know that one has to pay MORE to have the recycling picked up separately?
Maybe we should take these recycling bins and roll them onto the lawn in front of their houses and burn them. The plastics are resilient, but they burn well.
As far as parking spaces are concerned, I talked to officer Johnson and he agreed to drive by and give the offending bins a parking ticket. People tend to learn from the lessons that are the most expensive.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

You know, I just stumbled across this thread and it occurs to me that I have no idea what my servants do with my household garbage. I've never seen any garbage cans. Maybe they eat it. Alot of them are Indonesian...
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

I think garbage is very important...
too important just to let someone come and take it away. I have 5 1/2 years of garbage stored in my backyard, protected by my three rottweilliers.
oh yeah I get the complaints from people who want to steal my garbage. You should put it out front...you should unchain the dogs and take them for a walk....you should kill yourself and your dogs...
I hear it all the time! well.. screw you! The garbage is nicely stored and so what if the dogs have formed a sort of moat of dog-poop all around it. That helps protect it!
Go USA Go USA!
I am on the adventure of a lifetime! This is even better than the time I used the plastic stones!

They called cedar rapids? maybe that's why God flooded it!
http://www.latimes.com/news/chi-iowa...0,846323.story
Quote:
In Cedar Rapids on Friday morning, hospital workers using wheelchairs and on stretchers evacuated more than 175 patientsfrom Mercy Medical Center as rising waters of the worst flood in central Iowa history lapped into the basement.
With the Cedar River and nearby Iowa Rivers rising, state officials closed two major roadways—U.S. Highway 30 and Interstate Highway 80—for miles and detoured long lines of traffic onto overburdened rural roads. More than 35 highways across Iowa are under water.
Things worsened by the hour across the region Friday even as frantic sandbagging efforts were under way.

How many years have we been trying to get those fools to listen to us and worship God?
It's funny. I wish I was there to watch it!
Matthew:
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Well, I imagine that in Godly Freehold one doesn't have to worry about such things, but over here you have to pour bleach all over your garbage before you put it out, otherwise wild unwashed punks come and scoff the lot. Sad but true.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Garbage cans should have lids on them and not have debris sticking out:
This person could have easily broken down that box, but this just shows how little respect people have for the workers who have to pick up this trash.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

If you have rugs to dispose of, please bring them to the 'dump', or hire someone to do it. FSD does not pick up rugs or furniture, appliances or hazardous materials including paint cans and batteries. Please deliver these items personally to the refuse center. There you will be charged for disposal of waste by the cubic yard, but not for hazardous items like empty paint cans, batteries, or old TVs.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Wow, thanks for the tip. I've been throwing all my batteries in the regular garbage all this time (I go through about 100 a week, for various reasons). You're saying I'm not supposed to?
I think the reasonable soulution to this is just ask Brother Nobar to send me over the list of what trash needs to be sorted and so on. I'll go on tossing everything in the same can of course. But one of my 14 year old Indonesian houseboys can do the sorting later.
Man, live and learn.

The sanitation dept is required by federal law to sort those items. Following these few simple steps makes it easier for them to cow tow to the democrats. If they get fines, the charges get passed on to the customer, like everything else.

If you're going through that many batteries, you might want to look into rechargables. Much less expensive in the long run, and you're not creating more garbage.

This is an item that I've been meaning to mention for a while. Unsightly garbage cans are an eyesore. The municipal code was composed to reduce the impact that these cans have on a neighborhood's image. You're lucky if you have alley trash service, that way your guests or neighbors don't ever have to look at your trash bins on the street.
The code enforcement officer will come and ticket residents who leave un-collectible debris streetside for more than 72 hrs. Please help keep our streets clean and our city looking nice.
Quote:
Early Placement of Trash - Title 5, Chapter 50.17 A person commits an offense if he places refuse in any approved container which he neither owns nor leases, when he does not have the permission of the owner or lessee of said container.
- Title 5, Chapter 50.24 Residential containers shall be placed on or near the curbline or next to the alley line, as designated by the city. Residential containers shall be placed at the location designated for collection not earlier than 6:00p.m of the evening before, nor later than 6:30a.m. of the resident's collection day. Residential containers collected from the front of the house shall be removed to within ten feet of the residence. Residential containers collected from the alley shall be removed to an area closer to the residence than the alley line.
- Title 5, Chapter 50.25 A person commits an offense if he places a residential container or recycling bin on or near the curbline or alley line prior to 6:00p.m. of the evening before the resident's collection day. A person commits an offense if he leaves a residential container or recycling bin on or near the curbline or alley line after 9:00a.m. on the day after the resident's collection day.
|
Your co-operation is appreciated. I hope that posting this here was helpful, so that people can get familiar with the local ordinance.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Can you help me on this one Brother Nobar, My collection day is a Friday and the collection is usually around 1:15p.m., and, unfortunately this is the day that the entire Bathfire retinue will be travelling to Aspen at 8 a.m. for a break of 14 days. Clearly it will be impossible for me to retrieve it on the following day!
What am I to do?

I suspect that if you leave a note on the cans the garbage men should be able to wheel them off the street for you. Otherwise, maybe one of your friendly neighbors would be willing to help you out. I would come over and do it, but I'm going to be busy that day.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

You guys might think that a little unwanted trash is funny and you might be laughing at me, but this is serious issue.
I've been doing some work on my house, and from time to time construction crews from other properties just dump their debris on my easement to save them the time and money from going to the dump to get rid of their junk. IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! They think that because there's some junk lying around that they can just dump their stuff here.
I call the cops but what can they do without proof? I set my CCTV camera to record the street, but it wasn't sharp enough to see the license plates of the illegal dumpers. If I sit outside to look for them, they don't stop.
Now that I think about it, this dumping occurs more often during winter. I think because it's dark and cold out, and people are inside minding their own business and not sitting on the front porch and monitoring what's going on outside.
I put up a sign, but that didn't work, either:
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Could be worse, imagine if someone dumped a big heap of dirty brown garbage in the Mayoral Mansion!
