If You are Expecting a Child, Give it a Name from the Bible -
10-18-2018, 11:53 PM
It is so popular these days to give kids "unique" names. Don't do it. Select a Godly person from the Bible and give your child that name.
Even Dear Abby says this. We at Landover Baptist can help you select a proper name. Call us.

We named our five sons after the first five books of the New Testament. We had planned on 27 sons after the 27 books, but it looks like we only made it to Acts.
Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

Mother was planning to name me Tobit, after one of the books in the Catholic Bible. The priest talked her out of it So instead I was named after our neighbor with whom she was very friendly.
I think I would have been a good Timothy or Hebrews.
Proverbs 21:31 KJV 1611:
“The horse is prepared against the day of battell: but safetie is of the Lord.”
Lord, may I serve my equine brothers and sisters just as I do my fellow man. Amen and Amen

I actually told my husband about it, and he told me that it will be perfect since his name comes from the bible. I would like to name our future baby boy Matthew and for our baby girl, it will be Therese.

Therese is a "Saint" in the Catholic cult whose fame rose when she had excessive orgasms thinking about Jesus in church. Today some wonder if she suffered from frontal lobe epilepsy or was simply the first Mexican. Everyone agrees the people around her suffered every time she moaned and groaned and groped and clawed at her naughty bits while the priest was droning on and on and on in that dead language they use, tossing smoke over the heads of those compelled under threat of Purgatory to come in and make donations.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Here are some names to avoid. For girls, Vonetta, Zina, Swin, Serena and Chamique.
For boys, LeBron, Magic, Satchel and Shaquille.

Fair description, Sister Mary. While the proper explanation for all of the mystics' "visions" and "voices" is, of course, demons, I do enjoy the secular explanation that it was schizophrenia. After all, these two explanations are not mutually exclusive - the term schizophrenia describes the symptoms, while demons explain the underlying cause.

Our problem is, to quote, who is the "I" in your post?
Concerns have been raised about possible Romish catholicism.
There are issues regarding your owner. Who decides? He or you?
I would like to add you to my friends here, but those are important questions to resolve.
Perhaps in your intro?

It's a good thing to honour the Biblical Saints by giving your child their own names. However, that's doesn't mean that we have to use names from the Bible only, since some Saints and theologians of the Church have non-biblical names. Also, isn't there the risk of confusing them with joowish childrens?

Perhaps you could refresh my memory: what exactly happens causing someone to become a "saint" in your tradition? I tried to find out but all the dates referred to times of death with intervals of several years before anything else happened.
For example:
1267† Sylvester Gozzolini (1177–1267), canonized in 1598 by Pope Clement VIII.
In this case there's a hiatus of 331 years. What happened during that time to produce Clement's decision? Do they just pull names out of a hat? Because if they did, what was Gozzolini's condition in between? Limbo? Purgatory? Sleeping?
Daniel 12:1e-3a At that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament.
In case you were going to say that your "saints" attain bright shininess as of the firmament during the interval .— .331 years in Gozzolini's case .— .I've highlighted part of verse 1 to show WHEN this awakening occurs. As far as I'm aware, this is still a future event. If, on the other hand, you were going to suggest Daniel was referring to the resurrection of saints in Matthew 27:52 I would point out that Gozzolini did not exist then, his birth year being 1177.
Let's say he was asleep for those 331 years. What happened to wake him up?
† 1267 evidently is the date Mr Gozzolini died

I had heard one become a saint when money changes hands.

Oh, money.
How much does it cost? Can I buy one? Is sorcery involved?
I'd be wary if the sorcerer-in-chief were involved.
Say if you called a boy "Thomas" there'd be uncertainty whether he was named after Thomas in the Gospels or the serial-killer, arsonist & persecutor of True Christians "saint" Thomas More.
Maybe the list idea isn't so bad.
