The ignorant Swede's version of Easter worshipping

Friends as we move closer to the solemn and reflective time that is Easter I thought it would be educational to share with you a different type of Easter. Namely the horrific and God-mocking one they celebrate in the heathen country of Sweden.

As you have no doubt heard, Sweden is a land of pagans and sinners. A land filled with people who have children without being married and drink even more than Russian politicians. They will of course tell you that they are the best country on earth because they don't have any crime or because they have a heavily flawed social welfare system that allows people to be lazy. These are the empty words of a country whose citizens are burdened with a false ego and lack even the remotest of ideas about who our Lord is.

I am grateful whenever my job takes me to a town or village in one of the many European countries that one could consider "nearly godless". Last year I found myself in a village in the north of Sweden around the time of Easter. Being a man of virtue, I inquired if the town had a church where I could worship during the holy days. "Of course my kompis", said a shopkeep, "the whole town will be celebrating Easter on Sunday". This of course took me by surprise, as I had observed on previous forays into the Sindavia - that only only about 23 Swedes actually attend church regularly. I went to bed that evening wondering just what he meant by "celebrating"...

When Sunday came I rose early and meandered to the ancient church in the village. It had apparently been built some 400 years ago - and rarely used since. I had expected a large gathering since the shopkeep had said the whole village would be there. Alas I was alone. In fact all of the Swedes were still sleeping off their Saturday night binge drinking session and I had the town to myself. Had I been lied to? Was this shopkeep having me on? I headed back to the village center where I could catch a bus to a town that had a church that was open on this holy of holy days.

As I approached the station I saw a sign on a community notice board regarding a large event to be held at the local school. The event was to be held on that day - Easter! So, they have different ways of celebrating Jesus here, but they do celebrate him! I had just a few hours to wait before the festivities began. Till then I returned to my hotel and spent my time in prayer.

When afternoon began to emerge so did the hungover Swedes. They looked a bit worse for wear, but you could tell that something was going on. Especially amongst the children. And it was then that I first noticed how their ignorant children were taught to "celebrate" Easter. They were dressed as witches! Some even had pointy black hats! Worst of all each carried a form of tea pot that they went around begging for money with. Not for their church, no, but for themselves.

I was accosted by a few of these small wretches as I tried to reach the school. Their parents had them dressed in rags and even help put on some form of makeup to increase their sinful appearance. (I should mention that even some of the boys were dressed up as witches - and female witches mind you, not warlocks.) The sadness I felt within for these backwards heathens was deep.

Unfortunately when I came to the school I found things to be even worse. A large fire had been constructed and the witch children and the adults were throwing all manner of things onto it. Some of the adult males were already beginning another day of vodka consumption - my "friend" the shopkeep being one. I went over to him and I said stiffly, "What is this? You said unto me that you would be celebrating Easter on this day! Why, this - this is the most horrific display of respect for Jesus that I have ever seen!. How can you even call yourself a Christian good sir?"

And here is where the sad tale ends. That man, that shopkeep, that so-called Christian, he turned to me and said (in an already half slurring manner), "I don't care about the meaning of Easter or Jesus. Nobody here does. This is a party. The kids get dressed up and make some money. We have a huge fire here to keep the evil spirits away when they return from fornicating with the devil. And everyone has a good time. What did you expect on Easter here in Sweden?"

As you can imagine I did not expect such a terribly undignified and just plain vile form of Easter observance - not even from the Swedes. Why not just come clean people of Sweden? Admit that you are still pagans and would rather keep your demon gods rather than truly embrace the Lord. You're so called Lutheran church is a farce. A sorrier lot one will never see, a people who are so ignorant that they believe that they have been saved when they have actually been condemned. I would ask you to pray for them, but I believe it to be too late.
Daniel 5:16-18 "Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation."

In Finland these ignorant little bastards walk around from door to door, asking for candy or money. They even have the nerve to dress up like witches and even boys practice cross-dressing...what a disgrace

What a stupid upbringing from heathen parents and what a mockery towards christianity!

Well I do give them something...a big slap on the face I sometimes even empty their pockets from the money they have collected and donate it to the church

Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Proverbs 20:11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

I feel privileged when I can spread the word of God

So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

My goodness, is this evil practice prevalent in the dark land of Finland as well? Mersey. I thought it was isolated to the ignorant folk of faithless Sweden...I will need to make note of this the next time I find myself in Finland on one of my MANY trips there to spread the gospel and to teach those Elf-tongued vagrants the American language.

I thank you for your insight brother I-Hate-Juice and I pray that you can celebrate this Easter in that heathen country of yours without that which they call "memma" - or as I call it, the devil's defecation.

        You mean this "mämmi":

I was physically harmed when one "friend" offered me that hideous stuff. I punched him in the face 3-4 times and broke my knuckles.

I think it's made giving dogs something bad to eat and let them poo in the container. You are probably right that it has something to do with this witchcraft Easter, who else would eat dog **it?

And guess what, Finns have another Easter "food" called Pasha. Well, Finnish word for **it is Paska and they are pronounced exactly same if you have had one or two bottles of vodka. And most of the Finns have that two bottles every day.

Brother MisterM, that imagery has burned by retinas and brought back an acrid taste to my tongue. Yes, the foul beasts of Sinland do call it "mämmi", in Swedenmark they call it "memma" - my mistake. However, I can assure there is no difference in the "food" product of which we both speak. It saddens me to know that the soil is so poor in Sindinavia that the heathens are forced to eat this for nourishment but I suppose one should be pleased that they choose to put anything in their system that is not grain alcohol based.

I have not had the misfortune to have been forced to eat that which you name as "pasha" and having now done some research I hope I never do.

          God speed,

You and me brother, you and me...

I did recognize memma because I have seen these foul packages in local store and because all the civilization they have here have come from swedeland, it got also swedish name on it.

I have one question about those witches you had in your first post. Do they have this same custom that when they go around to demand money and gifts, they will hit the poor victim with whip made of willow and cry out laud most horrible spell like "wirwon warwon witsallain". Sounds hell bound to me.

It may be too early in the day to speak of this, but since you asked I will tell you. In Swedenmark the custom is, in fact, much worse. These roving gangs of young harlots and cross-dressing nancy boys have a sort of ruse they play on their unsuspecting victims. They will knock on the door of a feeb or cripple (who happens to be a believer) and pretend to offer them a token of good faith - say a card wishing them a happy Easter or a dram of bathtub vodka. When the feeb goes to accept the "gift" they are, I believe the word is "kneecapped" with a tire iron or crowbar.

Easter Monday is a sad and sorry day in Swedenmark (as are many), what with so many Godless and drunken parents asleep in open sewers, surrounded by piles of their greedy bastard children, children who sit atop of them and gorge on sugar whilst counting their takings. It would make you shed tears of sorrow Brother Mikkael...if it weren't for the all of the hobbling, newly crippled feebs that would be distracting you.

I have seen this children! Both boys and girls are dressed out as witches, and their cheeks are painted red with lipstick!
But the most awful thing is why they do it! Swedes belived that the witches visited the Satan! They thought that the witches was flying on their brooms and fornicated with Satan. (and children and animals wich they ate afterwards!)
Why aren't their parents stopping them? My father would never let me do such a thing!

Sadly no. In a more cultivated, moral and developed nation perhaps - but not in Sweden.

hmmmm. I have trouble understanding the need for all of this talk about Sweden and its vassal-state, Finlandia. I'm very sure neither one of those countries is the United States! Jesus cannot be pleased that this Holy Board's attention is being diverted away from Him and His anointed people.

Also, this "Mammy" of which you speak sounds utterly foreign and un-Christian. Here's how Wickedpedia describes it:
Mämmi is made from water, rye flour and powdered rye malt, seasoned with dark molasses, salt and dried, powdered Seville orange peel. The mixture is then allowed to go through a slow, natural sweetening process before being baked in an oven until set. Preparation takes many hours, and after baking the mämmi is stored chilled for 3 to 4 days before being ready to eat. Mämmi was traditionally stored in small bowls made of birch bark called tuokkonen or rove.
Don't you people have chocolate Easter crosses?
