      Since you posted your question in the un-gay thread, I assume that is the context in which you are posing your query.

      As a practical matter, you want to be very careful how much and who you imbibe spirits with out in the secular world. You could wake up a sodomite dressed like Cher and performing for the demoncrats. I know you wouldn't want that, so be careful out there, ok?

        Several of the pastors here have done SIGNIFICANT studies on Drunkenship.

        For the past year, I've been studying the effects of beer. Praise Jesus!!!

        As for the causes of drunkenship, the main cause is drinking more than one alcoholic beverage per hour (based on what was formerly average body sizes of a 165 pound man). Consuming alcohol faster than the body's liver can process it, is the ONLY thing that will cause one to become drunk. (This can, surprisingly, be done by consuming beer, wine OR liquor.)

        Lets look at the word drunk (and some others later) in relation to the Bible (KJV1611) shall we?

        The first time the word DRUNKEN is ever mentioned is in relation to Noah.

        Genesis 9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

        That is also the first time WINE is mentioned.

        Now some tee-totaler versions of false christianity will tell you that it's not OK to EVER drink alcohol. This stance puts the SQUARELY at odds with who they claim their Lord is.

        a resolution not only opposing the manufacture and consumption of alcohol but urging the exclusion of Southern Baptists who drink from election to the convention’s boards, committees and entities.
        So if the SBC's PIOUS standards were around at the time of Noah. He wouldn't be allowed to go to their little convention.

        Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

        But, um... (as the kool kids like to say) "oh SNAP!"

        Noah, just and walks with God, likes a little wine, NOT eligible to go to the Southern Baptist Convention.

        Who else drank wine in the Bible (KJV1611)?

        Genesis 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

        Numbers 15:7 And for a drink offering thou shalt offer the third part of an hin of wine, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.


        So the LORD Himself likes a little wine. OK.

        That's 2 more that can't go to the SBC. The High Priest of the Lord... OH, and the LORD (that's God).

        Jesus once made wine.

        John 2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew; ) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,


        Jesus, NOT invited to SBC.

        1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.


        Paul wrote the book of Timothy. Paul, not invited.

        Ok, so we've shown that most of the people in the Bible (KJV1611) (including the Father and the Son) enjoyed a little alcohol.

        Now lets look at some of the consequences.

        As said above, one of the results is being anally raped by your son.

        Another result is being stoned.

        Deuteronomy 21:20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

        21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.


        But lets look into that verse 20 a little closer. There are many AND's in there. It doesn't say OR. To qualify for being stoned, there are 3 things listed, Stubborn, Glutton and Drunkard.

        So, if you are gonna be a drunkard, don't be stubborn and a glutton too.

        Additionally, according to Proverbs, one will become poor.

        Proverbs 23:21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

        So that pretty much sums it up (i think) your questions.

        Remember, God gave us wine, beer and other liquors.

        God likes wine.

        Dont' be a drunkard (you'll become poor).

        Don't be a rebelious, gluttonous drunkard (you'll be stoned).

        The key, is obviously, TEMPERANCE!

          So as long as I don't indulge myself in too much alcohol but am aware that it is given by God to be used and not to be abused, I should be okay?

            Remember, the object is TEMPERANCE. Everytime you drink, you should think of Brother Temperance.

            So now we get into the tricky world of; WHAT IS TEMPERANCE? When does temperance become teetotalling?

            When people like the SBC, demonize alcohol to the point they did/do, they put their hatred for it ABOVE their Love for God. They (in effect) turned alcohol into a god!

            So, you must avoid being a teetotaler. You need to practice TEMPERANCE.

            Let's say you have a glass of wine (or beer) every night. You do this every night. You NEVER have more than one glass a night. You are a teetotaler. You would never have more than one, your one glass is absolute, complete. You are setting yourself for worship of that one drink.

            You should not do that. (The number could be anything below the 1 drink per hour; liver processing ratio)

            You need to avoid being a teetotaler. To practice temperance (moderation) you actually NEED to change your routine. Go out and get really snockered one night. This will keep your routine of only having one from being a form of worship.

            Don't break the law, by drinking and driving (that's a sin)

            1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

            14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.


            So, get plowed, get a taxi, and Praise Jesus. (remember a tenth of what you drink is for the Lord, so pour Him out a little; or save Him some at the end)

                Praise be upon you, Brother V. Your research once again points to the Bible (KJV1611) as an inspiration on how we are to live our daily lives. Indeed, when we ignore the Lord's teachings we will face dire consequences. I am reminded of a dark period in our Godly nation's history when the WCTU (Women's Christian Temperance Union) brought down the wrath of Jesus with a wave of crime, violence, and disrespect for the law when Prohibition was instituted. These vile harlot women (precursors to modern day feminists) banded together to demand suffrage and promptly voted in the scourge of Prohibition. This False Christian organization is still in existence and afoot on the earth spouting their heathen ways, a grim reminder that women still need to learn their proper place.

                Amen.

                  Suffrage is an abomination, but lips that touch wine shall never touch mine!

                  I'm sorry for that outburst, but demon rum is cause for so much of today's troubles! Why, how much less fornication and sodomy would there be without the Devil's drink. Think about it! There would be so much less! Then there are the husbands and fathers who would be at home instead of a degenerate bar, instructing their wives and children in the Bible as God commanded!
