Hi Jim,
Making fresh pasta is something everyone should do. It is cheap, easy and everyone can do it. The recipe is free for anyone to use it
Pasta can also be great for lunch:

Only gays and women would eat that! All those pretty colours and nothing to get your teeth into. It needs a dark colored sauce. And bacon.

Would this be more to your liking?
It is pork belly meat.

It looks far more appetizing for a real man. Provided it's not a slant version of pork belly.

I looked at the recipe, Brother Jim, and it appears that you're right.
I was hoping that that recipe would be appropriate, but it's not, as Michel and her mother aren't allowed to cook anything foreign or use foreign recipes in their house or anywhere else.

You two seem to be very picky about your food. All the recipes I post are really good eating.
I am getting concerned that you two might not get the nutrition you need, that you won´t be able to enjoy all the foods that are available to the maximum and that you might not reach your full weight potential. I do not mean fat but a bit chubby is healthy. Today I made pasta al funghi with home made pasta, served with steak. It is a real treat.
Similar to this but then with added steak, cut up in slices just before serving:
Edit: And I added a little bit of cream.

That pork-tummy dish looks quite appetizing, but what is the weird green stuff on top? It looks foreign to me!

That is koriander (cilantro). It is easy to grow, just toss some seeds with a bit of sand in a bed in your vegetable garden and you can harvest it in ~two months, maybe more or less depending on the temperature.

Sister those are mushrooms and evil fungi. Beware, it is a deceiver of meat, and thus a lying plant.

Par-boiling, caramelizing, Shaoxing wine, sweet soy sauce and anise - chink and gay if you ask me. The title of this thread is "Basic Recipes", like the grilling and searing of meat - something a man would like.

So it is slant food! Hmm, my instincts were correct. Now if it were a beef casserole, it would have been good.

How to cook bacon. How to fry stuff. How not to burn toast. How not to burn steak. How to whip cream.

My wife's cooking is based on Scripture. All cooking should be based on Scripture. I really doubt that any "pasta" dishes would be based on Scripture unless you consider them unleavened bread. This is the basic recipe for all occasions:
Exodus 12:8
And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Flesh and bread and seasonings. Next, how NOT to prepare meats:
Exodus 12:9
Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
No poaching or cooking in water, no steak tartar.
This is a good pictorial guide to the actual procedure:
Yours in Christ,
Elmer

Brother, I have it on good authority that pot roast braised in bacon, beer and a little wine vinegar (remember Jesus) is the closest thing you will get on this earth to the sweet smell of Heaven. If you prepare it on a Sunday morning and put it in a slow cooker before going to witness one of Pastor Zeke's inspiring sermons, by the time you get home God has made another miracle happen.

Thank you for the suggestions!
Michel should be back tomorrow. I'm thinking that I might start her off with some basic things, like toast and bread. My mother makes amazing sourdough bread, so I might show Michel how to make some after I show her how to make the starter for it.
I know that I should be teaching her how to cook steak and other kinds of meat, but I want her to get the hang on making other things and not burning them first. I can only imagine what a disaster it would be to trust her with meat when she can't even make a decent loaf of bread.

There is nothing wrong with the grilling and searing of meat. I myself am a great fan of grilling and barbecuing. A friend of me has a huge smoker he uses to make pulled pork. I am not sure of the recipe but it tastes great.
Just a minor question though: I watched a history documentary that says Christians should not grill and sear any meat but specifically Catholic meat. And then even burn it. The diet of the Christians consisted of raw turnip. It seemed a bit odd to me but is this correct?

Pasta is a Romish delicacy. Did you try my recipe? It includes turnip—one of my favourites—but mangel wurzels could be substituted. They are excellent boiled, go well with artichokes and fried cabbage. A superb accompaniment for mutton potage.
I would like to commend your comments regarding milk. It's for babies. If you would like to try solid food do contact our Pastor Flint who will greet you appropriately and in the meantime, here's an informative tract.
I hope you find that helpful.

Hello Mitza,
I haven´t tried your recipe. It is somewhat similar to a dish called ¨husselpot¨ we have here.
That is basically big chunks of onion, carrot, other leftover vegetables, potato and meat boiled together for 30 minutes. I prefer ¨hutspot¨, slightly fried chopped onions and carrots, boiled for ~20 minutes with potatoes and not to much water. Then drain, add a large piece of butter and mash. Use equal parts of onion, carrot and potato. Should it be to dry you add more butter or a bit of water saved when draining. This uses almost the same ingredients. I like to serve this with my favourite beef stew but that is not a basic recipe I guess.
I have never eaten a mangel wurzel. My mother told me she and her friends would eat them when they were kids, just collecting them from the field and eating them raw. I guess the farmer must have thought they were really poor.
You mention fried cabbage, a member of the brassica family. Have you ever tried roasting them? Especially the broccoli is excellent when roasted:
Recipe
I like to add a bit of parmesan in the final minute. And 25 minutes is too long, 10 to 15 should be good.
Jeremiah 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

It's good to see you moving away from papist influences, probably the source for your pasta fetish, but I don't think I need a recipe for roast (anything). Put it in the oven. Roast it (except spit roasts).
I do these at least once a week and they are always very popular with guests. Wurzels of any type are delicious boiled and served hot, such as the beetroot which is a sort of wurzel.
These are all simple recipes well suited to the new bride. Have you considered asking our Pastors for details concerning Salvation? If God has predestined you to be with Him, praising Him forever, you will not be lost.
John 10:24-31 KJV
Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Alternatively if Redemption has not been foreordained in your case, together with thousands of millions of others, you will be tortured forever regardless of age or creed.
