Happy pie day! -
03-14-2008, 05:08 PM
It's Friday, again, so let's have another POSITIVE thread to lift the spirits of the down! What's your favorite pie? Do you have a pie recipe to share? Ever been pied in the face? Or just post a pie pic.
This might be the ultimate pie crust:
I'm a big fan of apple pie. I like the slices to be big and solid enough to stab with a fork (no apple sauce, please). I like the crust over the top, and big ridges of crust around the edges that can be eaten like biscuits when they break off. Not too much cinnamnon, please, but I'll take that with some vanilla ice cream.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

How long do you think this thread will last before a negro steals it?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

I'm sorry, but any pie poll that doesn't include lemon meringue is meaningless to me, even though I do prefer banana cream.

Sorry, I ran out of spaces on the poll. Key lime pie was also left off the list.

I must say, there seems to be a bias towards fruits and nuts here. What about custard and cream pies?
Chocolate cream pie is one of my favorites, along with peach pie (another one you left out).
And don't forget Marionberries.

All of the above. Plus a bigg-a pizza pie.

Perhaps it's best to start off a new poll with the following responses...
Fruit-based
Berry-based
Nut-based
Meat-based
Vegetable-based
Meringue-based
Cream-based

Chocolate Cream pie...... Like the one that they bake at the little bakery down the street... I think I'll buy a slice right now... They have discounts on pie for Pi day.

Maybe some mod wants to substitute their favorite pies for 'banana cream' and 'black bean'? Those haven't been popular choices so far, and likely are the cause of the frustration over the composition of the poll.
How about : - 'Cream/custard-chocolate'
- 'lemon meringue/Key lime'

That's an excellent suggestion, sister MM. However, I think this poll is useful as is. The user may view the results of the poll in order to determine what kind of pie to bring for a party (assuming your host voted on the poll). You would hate to bring the wrong kind of pie, especially if that information is freely available.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Personally, I don't trust any pie that doesn't have a hearty fruit filling. Blueberry has long been my favorite, but I wouldn't turn down a slice of peach pie either.
Cream pies are one of the causes of homerism, in my opinion. And meat pies are just plain wrong. The only thing the Godless Brits can offer up as an example of British cuisine is all wrong. Pies should be full of sweet fruit, anyone knows that. Meat is for the grill.
And don't get me started on cobblers.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)
