When did Jesus ever speak so harshly against another group of people? Would Jesus speak this way of anyone? Jesus surrounded himself with the poor, the hungry, the sinners, the tax collectors, the prostitutes, the adulterers, the lepers, cheats thieves, murderers, and the unclean. He never cast stones as I read here. He was tolerant. I was raised in a Catholic home, went all through Catholic school. I have read the bible cover to cover. I am a wife, mother, veteran, and an atheist. Religion spreads its seed through hate and fear. Even if I were to worship a God it most certainly wouldn't be the self centered hateful God described in the Bible, that was written by men. I am raising moral, tolerant, kind, hard working, respectful human beings. And for the record, it seems the Christian community is more obsessed with homosexuality than the atheist community. Now what is that about?

An ex-Catholic atheist woman? Pardon me if I don't take your "stories" about Jesus seriously. And hold up minute, what kind of atheist believes in Jesus anyway. You might want to look up 'atheist' in a dictionary, because I don't think you know what that word means.

I am NOT raising them to be atheists, in fact my father who is an elder in his church, and my mother who is also quite active in numerous other ways, are allowed to say prayers with them.

Actually SCOTUS has defined atheism as a "religion" for purposes of protection, so although atheists do not consider it a religion, it has been legally defined as one so that it falls under that umbrella.

Because I've only seen them define "secular humanism" as a religion.

But not to worry, a couple of new justices and neither secular humanism nor atheism will be considered "religion" any more.

I just want to make it clear that I do NOT want MY taxes raised to support these poor children. We are already spending WAAAY too much money on social services and not nearly enough on national defense.

I'm sure these children would be better off working in a factory or living on the streets than with an atheist parent anyway.
