'The Black Parade' is a genius album, in which My Chemical Romance theorizes that when you die, death comes to you in the way that you feel most comfortable. The plot of the album says that when the main character was a child, his father took him to see a marching band. And so when the boy dies, death greets him in the form of The Black Parade. As well as the video for 'I Don't Love You', it encourages relationships between people who are of different descents, ethnicities, etc. I am not 'emo', and I never have been. Hahahaha! This is too funny. I could not disagree more thoroughly with the massive generalizations made in this statement. Please allow me to debunk the following myths:

My boyfriend and I are both Emo, and neither one of us was forced to undergo any sort of initiation ceremony. No scars required to "join." No satanic chants. No cultish mailing list. No required reading. No need to agree with an express set of ideals laid down by any sort of leadership. Nope. None of that. Seems that statement was false. I just pointed out two people who refute the "ALL Emos..." statement. Guess that means that it is not a "FACT" after all.

Moving on. "It is a FACT that when Emos die they BELIEVE they all go to 'The Black Parade'!" Is it now? I am a born again believer in Christ Jesus, as is my boyfriend. We were both raised Baptist. I own several versions of the Bible, including but not limited to the KJV, the Nelson Study Bible, and the New American Standard Version, as does he. And again I point out, we are Emo. Funny, because I believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and infallible as such. Naturally, I believe that non-believers are condemned to spend eternity in Hell, and that the Redeemed in Christ are going to spent eternity in Heaven, ruling beside Jesus.

Now, forgive me for being so long-winded, but I believe I must address other issues with the image of Emos portrayed in the article referenced above. We are not obsessed with death. As in any other social group, some of us have certain issues, including major depression, ADHD/ADD, RAD, IID, and major anxiety issues. Take a group of hundreds of people, and you are bound to find a good number with problems, but guess what? We actually try to support eachother. I have had the privilege of counseling countless others away from suicide. I have had the honor of leading young women in the Salvation Prayer after counseling them for hours about the meaning of Salvation and the God I serve. I have never encouraged, embraced, romanticized, or enjoyed the thought of suicide.

Furthermore, the musicians who were attacked for promoting suicide do not do any such thing. In one related article, one of their songs entitled "Dead," was made an example of romanticizing death. It pains me to feel compelled to draw attention to this particular literary nuance, but have none of you heard of satire? Many an author has received critical acclaim for effectively making use of it. How is it then that when a musician creates a song, it is bound by rigid laws of music something-or-other to be strictly literal in lyrical interpretation? Pardon me, but aren't most songs at least partially metaphorical in nature? And don't those that aren't frequently hold deeper meaning the the literal interpretation of the words sung would suggest? How is it so difficult to imagine that this wildly popular band may be popular for something other than the words written on the lyric sheet?

Now, don't get me wrong. I do not mean to imply that these men should be idolized, or that they are above reproach. They are human after all. Nothing more and nothing less. I am simply attempting to point out that there may be something other than malicious intent behind their lyrics.

Finally, isn't judgement reserved for God? Before condemning an entire sub-culture as satanic, demonic, or cultish, shouldn't we take the time to find out as much as possible through means other than the highly dramatized sensationalism that permeates our daily media? I thought we were supposed to love our neighbor as ourselves. I thought we were supposed to be at peace with all men so much as it is with us. I thought we were supposed to humble our undeserving souls, and kill our wicked self daily. How can we do this with such a holier than thou attitude? If we spend all our time pointing out how bad everyone else is, where is there time for self assessment and reevaluation? Where is there devotion to personal growth and one-on-one time with our beloved Lord and Savior? As Jesus Himself said, "41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? First, I should also apologize. I sometimes become zealous in enforcing the rules. How could you know that before you many others also did not follow the rules. And you posted a good introduction too.

As I understand it, being emo means being prepared and comfortable enough to show your natural human emotions. However, God says:

1 You have to enjoy the particular style of emo and goths that is dark clothes, morbid or creepy symbols, and things you would probably see a villain wearing in a movie. Basically just have an interest in the "dark side" of things.

2 You have to hate either yourself or the world. If you hate yourself, you're emo. If you hate the world, you're goth. I am a goth and I hate the way the world is, the way people are ignorant and unnecessarily hateful towards others. I love life and live it to the fullest, indulging in all of your "sins" because they all lead to my personal and physical gratification. I don't want to die whatsoever and would do anything to prevent my own death.
