Sister Basilissa, I know you are an unmarried lady and I thought I ought to clear up a little misunderstanding you seem to have there.
I am sorry to have to tell you that it is necessary for a woman to lay with her husband
every time that he wishes her to produce offspring. A single act is insufficient. My dear husband and I have been blessed by Jesus with 8 boys (and a girl) and, apart from the 2 sets of boy twins - I count myself twice-blessed there - each birth has required at least one separate act of you-know-what.
Try to think of it in terms of flowers. We are not perennials. Our growing season, following the act of laying with our husbands, produces the equivalent of an annual plant which needs to be replanted each Spring. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 may help you understand.
Yours in affectionate Sisterhood,
Joanna
