Just one question: Why is it that you all do not follow the Papacy? What about it is so wrong in your perspective?
Edit: To BelieverOfGod, i mentioned that I was Republican because someone tried to insult me by calling me a...liberal?

Because they're nothing more than the old Roman pagans with Jesus draping? Is that why you're such an unbeliever? Were you raised Catholic? I find that the majority of God mockers are.

I understand how you could come to that conclusion, seeing as the author stated she always imaged Dumbledore as being homosexual, but I would like to point out that nowhere in any of the books does she reference homosexuality, so I don't see how the books themselves promote homosexuality.

That's because you lack Christian Discernment.
Please make a thread of your own in the " Introductions" section of the forum, so that we can properly greet you. Tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.

I can see the thought behind some of these coments, however if we really beleive in God we know that he is a good and kind Father, the kind who would not lead us astray. If God truly saw Harry Potter as evil then surely he would have led J.K. on a different path, but since he allowed the books to come into being he must see some value in them that perhaps we ourselves cannot see at this time.
Oh, and what are your oppinions on the british tv show Doctor Who? Some I have spoken to have spoken out against it, but as I have not seen it myself I do not fully understand why.

I can honestly say that I have never wasted a single moment of my life watching a "british tv show" of any kind. We watch Christian TV shows based in God's favorite country (America!).

So what I'm hearing you say is that because I lack "christian" discernment, I cannot discern between what is right and wrong. However, I can assure you I am fully capable of determining the difference between what is right and wrong; I know that it is wrong to discriminate against someone because of their sexuality, and I know that it is wrong to ban a book like Harry Potter simply because you do not agree with the content. Magic is not real, therefore the argument that the books teach witchcraft is illogical. As someone in a post before said, that is like saying Superman teaches children to fly.

Worshiping Satan is illogical too. Should we let children read books and watch movies that telkl them to worship Satan?

I understand you are concerned about books or movies telling children to worship satan, but I am unsure what that has to do with Harry Potter seeing as there is nothing in the books telling children to worship satan. If you can find a passage in the books that does explicitly tell children to worship satan, I would gladly admit that I am wrong...though I still do not believe that warrants the ban of a book.

The Bible is strongly against witchcraft or did you not read the original post?
The Bible is also strongly in favor of book burning.
Acts 19:19-20 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
We must burn all Harry Potter books and ban them. It's the only way.

Yes, I have read every post in this thread. And the bible may be against witchcraft, but as I said before, witchcraft and magic are not real, the books are entirely authentic, all they do is spark a child's imagination. And the witchcraft aside, the themes of the books are what is really important: Love, friendship, good prevailing against evil. How are these ideas objectionable?

I am not sure if someone edited my previous post, but when I posted my reply, that sentence read "the books are entirely authentic" definitely not authentic.

And it changed it again...so is the word authentic not allowed? Or just the use of it in that sentence? The series is under the genre "real" meaning made up, imaginary.

So by changing the words in my posts, what I'm hearing you say is "I cannot think of a sufficient, logical argument against these posts, so I am going to edit said posts to make the author sound ignorant."

I understand that you believe I am spamming the thread, but as a book lover, including Harry Potter, I do not believe that any book should be banned or burned. I simply posted on this forum to learn why the series is so hated, but no one can give me a solid, logical reason.

Excuse me, mister. Did I not just answer your question? Allow me to repeat myself.
The Bible is strongly against witchcraft.
The Bible is also strongly in favor of book burning particularly books about witchcraft and idolatry.
Acts 19:19-20 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

The Bible disagrees with you. Only those who are Saved can make proper judgment. So yes, Pastor Ezekiel is right since you lack Christian discernment, you cannot tell what is right or wrong.
1 Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Which makes sense, if you think about it, since morality is defined by God, and only those who walk in God's path (like us) can truly determine whether something is right or wrong.

It is clear that you are passionately concerned about witchcraft, but again...witchcraft and magic are not real. How can you be against something that is not real? That is like being against unicorns; they are not real so they cause no harm. I understand that you say the bible is against witchcraft, but that is probably because people used to think witchcraft was real.
And yes, that reason is constantly reiterated, but I hardly think one reason is enough to destroy a book.
