Godly Pastor Rebukes Erring Members -

Here’s a Baptist pastor who knows how to use his shepherd’s staff to keep his flock in line. The Bible commands that unrepentant, erring church members be rebuked before the congregation.
Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
1 Tim 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
Jesus and Paul agree that the church needs to use public humiliation, peer pressure and the fear of social rejection to smack down those who don’t conform to God’s expectations. In the following video, Jim Standridge shows us how it’s done.

That all changed when they were photographed at a city council meeting that voted 4-1 to approve same-sex benefits to government employees. The Coopers' daughter, Kat, is a lesbian and a detective with the Collegedale Police Department and had been leading the cause to have those benefits extended to gay couples. Because they showed up to support her, the church met privately with Kat's parents, aunt, and uncle and gave them an ultimatum: repent for their sins and ask forgiveness in front of the congregation, or leave the church, the Times Free Press reports.
The sin of Kat's relatives, according to minister Ken Willis, is that of endorsing her 'lifestyle', which he says the Bible is explicit about. While Willis doesn't expect the Coopers to disown Kat, he says that while parents should still love their children they shouldn't support their sin; love the sinner, hate the sin. But it would also seem that loving a sinner is itself a sin, judging from the actions of Willis and the church authorities.
Willis insists that since Kat's actions and support from her family were made so public, they had no choice but to take action. The implication evidently is that if Kat had stayed in the closet or kept quiet about her lack of rights then the church wouldn't have had to punish her family for loving her. After 60 years, the Coopers chose to leave the church rather than repent for a sin they did not commit. Kat's mother is still driven to tears by the events, but the family remains resolute in the support of their daughter.

Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

I did a little more research. Here is Pastor Jim Standridge's defence of his actions.

Amen! That's a thoroughly Biblical response.
1 Cor 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

1 Jn 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
How could anyone possibly be offended by being called out on "private matters" in front of family, friends and an audience of several hundred people?
In another interview, he explains how God prompted him to say those things.

“And I did. I went to him and I told him. I rebuked him and told him what I thought of him. I’m trying to save him. That was love. That was tough love.

“I was on a mission of cleaning the house. I’m a purifier. That’s my job.”

Rebuking is an act of love.
Lev 19:17-18 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.
So many people quote verse 18 out of context.
And it is most certainly a pastor's job to keep the church pure. Perhaps we can justify Jim's anger with the same verse that justified Jesus'.
Jn 2:17 The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
Just a warning: these articles contain accusations by Ryan Underwood -- one of those rebuked in the video -- against Jim Standridge, a pastor of God's church. Since Mr Underwood has no witnesses to back up his accusations, they should be ignored.

A pastor rebukes a woman talking on her cell phone during church. He rebukes her not with words but with actions, then returns to the pulpit to continue reading a passage about love. Women must remain silent during services.
1 Cor 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
If only more pastors would show their love like this, instead of hypocritically remaining silent when they see sin.

I confiscated a pair of nail-clippers from some lapsing piece of filth church member not too many moons ago, and will NEVER apologize for that. So much need-to-know information in this thread. Bottom line: If one comes to church focused on Jesus Christ, then the embarrassing, scene-making rebukes will not follow.
And Pastors aren't immune, either, not by a long shot...
Paul rebuked Peter for compromising on the circumcision debate with Jews:Galatians 2:11-12: 11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. 12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
James 3:1: My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

Thank for that Brother Pim. I must say that I do not like the manner in which he punches and hits the Lord's Holy Word. But what he has to say is most relevant. 27:50

My husband has a simple rule. For every minute I spend on here, I spend 3 minutes reading the Word. And of course, I have to manage my time so that all the household chores are done to perfection, so if Jesus came (you never know when, after all "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night." 1 Thessalonians 5:2) the house would be in perfect order.

Here we have a Bible College student caught talking during the sermon. The preacher rightly reminds him that he will reap what he sows. When he becomes a pastor, he will have people in the congregation talking while he's trying to preach.
Gal 6:7-8a
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption . . .
This is a good example of a loving rebuke. The pastor twice tells the erring congregant that he loves him.

It's been a while since we've seen a good rebuking.
First, Antonio Rocquemore, of Power House International Ministries, kicks a trans man out of his church for being dressed in drag.
Deut 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
Second, Pastor Steve Anderson kicks out a man who had been sowing discord and a visitor to the church.
Rom 16:17-18
17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
You may think these pastors were not showing the love of Christ, but nothing could be further from the truth. Rebuking sinners like this is how you keep the Great Commandment.
Lev 19:17-18

Oooweeee. I didn’t know there was a topic on the forums about the pastor from the First Baptist Church of Skiatook! My grandpa pot used to take me there when I would visit him (mostly when Ma and Pa were working their differences until Ma was found at the bottom of the stairs). http://fbcskiatook.com/vision-mission/ This Church stays stuck in my mind because of how good the Pastor has his flock tried and true. Also, I like the easytithe system where you can pay Church dues directly on the website.
