People with rude names: victims of their parents or sinners doomed to hell? -

Dick Pound: sinner doomed to hell
The Bible makes it very clear that filthy talk is sin.
Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
It's enough to send you to hell.
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Yet how can you avoid filthy talk if you must address someone as D*$! Pound? Worse yet, how can you avoid blasphemy if you must address someone as . . . I can't even say it. Ladies, avert your eyes!
These people exist as temptation to foul talk and blasphemy. They are a snare set by the devil. They commit a most heinous sin: the sin of causing others to sin.
Luke 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
Luke 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
"It would be better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea." - Jesus Christ
Now some might object that these people are victims of their parents. Well, God has no problem punishing children for the sin of their parents.
Exodus 20:5 For I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
Of course, the Christian thing to do would be to avoid fellowship with these people (Second Corinthians 6:14). That way you simply don't have to address them. But we also need to remember that some contact with unbelievers is unavoidable as we go about our daily lives (First Corinthians 5:9-10). So it's possible you'll one day meet someone, if you haven't already, with an inappropriate name. If you do, I suggest you just call them "Sinner."

I would say it is the parents fault
though nothing is stopping the kids for repenting their evil name

I have always looked at a man with a poor given name as a barrier to over come.
A good man named Richard does not have to be called Dick. Unless he is.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

When I was in prison I met a guy that introduced himself as Ben Dover. I might add that I had to slap him upside the head as he tried stealing my prison allocated long pants.

There's nothing wrong with the name Richard in and of itself. My father's name was Richard. He was a fine upstanding man. It's a pity he's now burning in hell because he didn't accept Jesus as his personal savior.

Brother Pastor Zeke that would make a WHOLE LOT OF SENSE because when he introduced himself I replied "Hi Ben, I am BAW" And he said "I'z gunnu call you Eileen" He was obviously missing his wife. I suddenly feel dreadfully sorry for her, she must miss Ben (R.I.P)

What a deeply insightful article brother Swallows. I find that people of a given name tend to do as their name implies. My father's friend Mr. Cook owned a restaurant and had a daughter named Glorious. I would have married her for sure, but the Lord called me away at the last moment!

Indeed. Jacob means supplanter and he lived up to his name. He took his older brother's birthright and later his blessing (Genesis 27:36). After Jacob wrestled with a man on the beach, God changed his name to Israel (Genesis 32:24-30). Jacob wasn't the only one who had to change his name. Abram became Abraham, Saul became Paul, Simon became Peter. Naomi insisted on changing her name to Mara after God had "dealt bitterly with her."
We will all one day be given a new name in heaven.
Revelation 2:17 To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Although if we don't know each others names I don't know how we'll communicate with each other. But clearly the Bible teaches that your name is a reflection of your character. I won't hesitate to declare that this Asian must be homosexual.
