Pigs Running Wild -
01-08-2007, 11:10 PM
I was reading a secular newspaper recently (we pastors have to keep up with satan's latest evil schemes), and I ran across THIS story. And it put me of a mind to recall one of my father's favorite verses from the Holy Word of God. Now I'm not saying that the farmer in that story was attacked by demon-infested pigs, by it does give one pause to think...
Now you know, there is nothing trivial in the Bible. God didn't fill it's Holy pages with filler, or absurd nonsense, or comical gibberish. No! God left us a legacy of high-toned, sophistimacated direction that has a direct impact on our daily life. The verses below are obviously no exception to that.
Luke 8:26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
8:27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.
8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
8:29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
8:31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
8:32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
8:33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
8:34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.
8:35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
8:36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
8:37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
So what we have here is a naked bum who lived rent-free in a graveyard, filled to the brim with demons, and Jesus did him the favor of casting them out and transferring them into a herd of swines. And in the end, for all His trouble, the townspeople all forced Jesus to get out of town like some nigra. Can you imagine? Doesn't this story just make you full of rage and anger at the way those joos treated our Saviour?
Now I'm not saying that the farmer in that story was attacked by demon-infested pigs, by it does give one pause to think...Whenever I am enjoying the taste of a succulent roast pig, I imagine its flesh is made all the sweeter for our Lord Jesus having used it as a vehicle for dispensing with demons long ago. Thank you, Lord! Glory!

All this does raise an interesting question: what would happen if it were possible to find the demon that possessed Moo-Ham-Head (piss be upon him) and drive it into a pig? Would the Mahommedans worship it or flee from it? I suppose they'd probably just get confused and end up doing what they always do:
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.
