Mitt Romney's working-class cred -
03-07-2012, 10:05 AM
Is Mitt Romney into NASCAR?: " Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans. But I have some great friends who are NASCAR team owners."
Is he into football? "I've got a lot of good friends, the owner of the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, both owners are friends of mine,"
Here he is listing all of the cars he owns, to the exent of his memory. " My wife drives a couple of Cadillacs":

I read the title, and thought you were saying Mitt Romney is working-class crud.
I was going to point out that he's not working class . . . but I see that I misread the title.
I'll be quiet now.

I think Politfacts would agree with you "Mostly true"
Mitty Romney is a clear member of the working class and producer in this society.
But Mitt Romeny is not some union working crud like a car mechanic or machinist just slacking off with some job better off shored.
Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

What about all the, lazy, no good, alcoholic, homosexual, atheist mechanics that are employed to service his fleet of vehicles? Don't they understand that he is doing God's work by giving freely to them?
Look at how the main stream leftist media elite portrays this, hard working, person. The man works hard for his money, combining words into sentences, sentences into paragraphs, and paragraphs into speeches. If that isn't worth a meager $374,000, I don't know what is. Why are they trying to penalize him for not smoking crack and fathering 10s of kids out of wedlock?
Quote:
Mitt Romney Downplays $374,000 In Speaking Fees As 'Not Very Much'
WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney has a new definition of "not much": $374,327. On Tuesday, the Republican presidential candidate finally admitted that the effective tax rate he has been paying for the last several years is likely below that of middle-class workers, which would also include military servicemembers.
In Greenville, S.C., Romney was asked directly what his effective tax rate is. It was a hot topic of discussion at Monday night's debate, at which Romney repeatedly declined to fully commit to release his tax returns.
"It's probably closer to the 15 percent rate than anything," said Romney on Tuesday. "For the past 10 years, my income comes overwhelmingly from investments made in the past, rather than ordinary income or earned annual income. I got a little bit of income from my book, but I gave that all away. Then, I get speakers fees from time to time, but not very much."
Not very much? According to his personal financial disclosure, from February 2010 to February 2011, Romney earned $374,327.62 in speaking fees. A few months later, Romney joked that he was "unemployed."
His rival, Newt Gingrich, said that he made $60,000 per speech -- defending himself against the charge that he served as a lobbyist for Freddie Mac, for which he was paid over $1.6 million for strategic advice.
Romney has an estimated wealth of between $190 million to $250 million, according to financial disclosure reports. Upon leaving Bain Capital in 1999, he negotiated a retirement package guaranteeing him a percentage of the firm's profits.
A single worker who earns more than $35,350 in income pays a 25 percent tax rate on earnings above that amount. Many families that earn less than $100,000 per year pay an effective rate of just above that, according to the Congressional Research Service.
The Huffington Post's Jon Ward asked Romney about his tax rate in Iowa last December. "You take advantage of the opportunity to be in America, to build a bright future, and you pay your taxes as required by law," he said. "And if something is a capital gain, it should be treated as a capital gain. If something is ordinary income, it should be treated as ordinary income. And the determination of those things has been made by Congress and by the courts and by the Internal Revenue Service. I've always followed the law as to the taxes that we've paid, my wife and I have paid." Romney added that he favors eliminating taxes on capital gains, interest and dividends for middle-income Americans, but not for high-income Americans.
Romney's wealthy welfare comes from a loophole in the tax code that taxes long-term capital gains at a 15 percent rate. Private equity executives are then "paid" with capital gains instead of regular income. The executives, such as Romney, then tell the Internal Revenue Service that they were not being reimbursed a salary for work they performed but instead were merely investors reaping the rewards of risk taking. Happily for the executives, any investments that go belly up and lead to bankruptcy and mass layoffs can be counted against the earnings, which amounts to a tax subsidy for failed projects.

The trouble is, he's not a Christian.

Some Demoncrats are saying that Mitt is so smooth, he no longer has a grip on life, but what they fail to recognise is that the President (as he will be) needs to be an example of what can be achieved via God and the American Dream.
He was born of humble parents, his father being chairman and president of American Motors Corporation from 1954 to 1962 who also found time to serve the people as 43rd Governor of Michigan, much like any of us. As a man of the people, Mitt attended, as most people do, a private prep school and ultimately Harvard, thus fitting himself for the leadership responsibilities that lay ahead.
Who could possibly say that such a background is not the equivalent experience of life on welfare in the ghettos, or at least creates a deep empathy with the plight of such people?

Amen, Brother Ezekiel.
What most people also fail to realize is his daddy was born in Mexico, so technically Mitt is half wetback, and you know those guys can put in a full day's work (when they aren't sleeping in the afternoon).
Plus, you can say that Mitt is part "hillbilly" since he was raised in Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Here's one of Mitt Romney's funders:
Q. Do you think the ultrawealthy have an inordinate or inappropriate amount of influence on the political process?
A. I think they actually have an insufficient influence.
His recent contributions:
$150,000 to the pro-Romney Super PAC...Griffin has also contributed the maximum allowable amount directly to Mitt Romney’s campaign, $550,000 to Karl Rove’s American Crossroads Super PAC, $1,500,000 to the Koch brothers’ Americans for Prosperity, $560,000 to the Republican Governors Association, $38,300 to the Republican National Committee, $72,900 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee, $30,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee, the $5,000 maximum to Paul Ryan (R-WI)’s Prosperity PAC, and $4,000 to Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-VA) Every Republican is Crucial PAC.

Romney is just a regular Joe like you or I. For instance, while you make $60,000 in three years at your job picking roadkill off country roads, he made $60,000 a day in 2010. While you can scrap together enough money to afford to buy your kids a pizza on Friday nights, Rmoney owned a pizza company. --All while doing nothing--
At a campaign stop back in the summer of 2011 Romney told a group of supporters outside a coffeehouse (that he couldn't patronize because Mormons can't have caffeine) that he was also "unemployed": Just like you!
Romney is just your average, run-of-the-mill, Joe six-pack. The kind of guy who takes his kids on a road trip to Canada and straps the family dog to the roof of the car (resulting in the dog dying from fear). The kind of guy who can efficiently loosen his collar to talk to working-class voters (a skill he learned last year after years of acting classes). The kind of guy who knows what it's like to make sacrifices during unemployment such as going to ski at Aspen instead of Deer Valley.
