Religion is playing a big role in Clinton’s post-election tour. What does she have to gain from sharing her faith now?

Hillary Clinton wants to preach. That’s what she told Bill Shillady, her longtime pastor, at a recent photo shoot for his new book about the daily devotionals he sent her during the 2016 campaign. Scattered bits of reporting suggest that ministry has always been a secret dream of the two-time presidential candidate: Last fall, the former Newsweek editor Kenneth Woodward revealed that Clinton told him in 1994 that she thought “all the time” about becoming an ordained Methodist minister. She asked him not to write about it, though: “It will make me seem much too pious.” The incident perfectly captures Clinton’s long campaign to modulate—and sometimes obscure—expressions of her faith.

Now, as Clinton works to rehabilitate her public image and figure out the next steps after her brutal November loss, religion is taking a central role. After long months of struggling to persuade Americans that she is trustworthy, authentic, and fundamentally moral, Clinton is lifting up an intimate, closely guarded part of herself. There are no more voters left to lose. In sharing her faith, perhaps Clinton sees something left to win, whether political or personal.

Hillary Rodham grew up attending First United Methodist Church in the conservative suburb of Park Ridge, Illinois, often taking field trips into Chicago with her youth pastor to see figures like Martin Luther King Jr. While other girls were flipping through beauty mags, she was reading about Vietnam and poverty in a now-defunct magazine for Methodist students called motive.

During the Clinton administration, the family attended Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. Mike McCurry, who served as Bill Clinton’s press secretary during the early Monica Lewinsky years and now teaches at Wesley Theological Seminary, told me “her faith and her ability to think about forgiveness … was a very, very important part of how she dealt with that family crisis.” A well-worn Bible was always on the Clinton family’s dining room table during that time, he said.

When she was First Lady, progressives roundly mocked her moralism, and conservatives doubted her sincerity. After getting widely panned for a speech about America’s “crisis of meaning” in 1993, Clinton waited nearly a year to talk about spirituality again—and did so, she said, “with some trepidation.”

Shillady said Clinton could have talked about her faith more during the campaign, but largely blamed commentators for ignoring that aspect of her identity. “It’s been there all along,” he said. “The general public didn’t necessarily want to accept the fact that she’s a Christian because there’s so many critics out there about the Clintons.” Kristin Du Mez, a professor at Calvin College who is working on a book about Clinton’s faith, agreed. “When I would hear Hillary speak, knowing that she was a Methodist, I just heard so many resonances—about education, about women’s rights, about the importance of community,” she said. “Because of that, it was just baffling to me that so many other Americans not only didn’t know she was Methodist, but didn’t accept that she was Christian.”

I'm not a theologian, but I see the work of Satan here. Satan said to himself, "Why not mask my message in the guise of a 'preacher'? It has worked with the Catholics and Mormons."

The Clinton gambit, however, is more evil. She will be preaching homerism and liberalism. We need to use our powers here at Landover Baptist to shout her down.

Shout her down with direct verses from the Bible to demonstrate why she shouldn't be preaching does sound good. But if Our President was permitted to do his job, she would have been locked up months ago.

And as it happens, being locked up in a women's prison would give her the opportunity to preach. The Bible doesn't specfically forbid women from preaching and instructing children and other women about Jesus and The Good News.


The real problem, of course, is that she would be preaching a granola-eating, patchouli-scented "Jesus". I'm sure that if the Real Jesus© wore any fragrance, it was frankencense. It was given to Him as a baby-gift after all.

Call me overly skeptical, but I have no faith that someone of the moral depravity of Hillary Clinton would ever repent. Jeffrey Dahmer? Sure. Though not Hillary.

Anyway, if she starts supporting good Christian policies like banning Muslims, building a wall, banning abortions, deporting criminals, etc. I'll CONSIDER reevaluating my opinion on her. Until then, just another wolf in sheep's clothing.

As a pastor, I all too often see a sudden and miraculous conversion to an attitude that mimics True Christianity.

It is a particularly human failing in the weak or mind, weak of spirit, and women.

Everyone of these "I'm in shit - Get Jesus on the hot-line" is roundly condemned by God the Father, Jesus and most all the Biblical characters that I can think of:

The point is that you should be paying the insurance and then you can make a claim! How simple is that? You can't have a pre-exisiting condition and then sign up for insurance!

Hillary went against God and stuck her claws into a man. And then she denies him the services of a a wife:

Yet we saw she had the temerity to use a thin veneer of "religion" to achieve her aims.

Hey! Prof! (If you really are a professor! ) The General Public know what they are talking about! They see through her like glass. She's so self-obsessed she's no idea what "the public think" The public aren't Methodists, don't have the dirt on an ex-president, and aren't lesbian!

Anyway - the point is that "Methodist" is not a religion - it is a social group who meets at intervals to discuss some fluffy bunny form of Christianity that the New York Times would approve of.

Well, I am no Pastor or theologian. Just a True Believer™. But every person I know that claims to be Godly AFTER suffering some sort of defeat (like a criminal conviction) all claim to of 'found Jesus'. Which is simply not possible. Jesus has been there all along. They just ignored him. So while He may forgive your sins, they are on your permanent record and affect your chances of getting into Heaven. Until then, no parishioner would ever follow a Pastor who is a crook (and of course, a woman, a Pastor).
I have not laughed so hard since old lady Johnson slipped on the ice, broke her hip and her dog got run over by the Landover Sanitation Dept. twice. They backed up to see if they missed something.
