Atheists are not smart enough for Mensa -
12-13-2010, 01:21 AM
The group Mensa has been mentioned here a few times recently. My impression has always been that Mensa is made up of ineffectual, Aspergers-suffering, Rain-Man-like jackass atheists. You know the type... well into their 40's, still living with their parents. The type that still thinks it's funny to order dehydrated H20 at the diner. The type that complains about everything... fluoride in tap water (even though they only drink bottled), prayer in schools (even though they have no kids of their own), Biblical Christmas themes on government property (even though they don't go anywhere and won't see these in person).
Anyway, I decided to verify my preconception and was very surprised with what I found out. Atheists only make up a small percentage of membership. According to Mensa's own website:
- 49% Christian,
- 3% Unitarian,
- 9% Jewish,
- 7% agnostic,
- 3.6% atheist,
- 9% no religion
I'm not sure why the other 19.4% weren't asked this question but if we spread them out according to the given rates, we see that another 9.5% are also Christian. That makes Mensans 58.5% Christian. Also, from the same page, 88% of Mensas are of European ancestry (this doesn't surprise me, however.)
The criteria for Mensa membership is that one be as smart as the top 2% of people... one-in-fifty, in other words. Since only 3.6% of Mensans are atheist, it's obvious that atheists must be very stupid, in general. How stupid, you ask?
First of all, the general population is over 14% atheist. (See this supporting document). The average IQ across this population is, by definition, supposed to be 100. Well, the 98th percentile translates to approximately an IQ of 131. This difference calculates out that the average intelligence of atheists must be 74.
Moreover, the Mensa link also shows Mensa membership around the world. Notice how the US is at the top with 50,483 members? Total world membership is just 101,813. At first glance, it looks like Americans are twice as smart as everyone else! This does not, however, take into account that the population of the US is just 5% of the world. If we were merely twice as smart, I'd expect to find there's more than 500,000 worldwide Mensa members. We don't see that. Therefore, it's obvious that Americans (on average) are ten times as smart as everyone else.
I think this all means that non-American atheists are profoundly stupid... far worse off (if you can imagine that) than their American counterparts.
I am then finally reminded what God already told us in His Holy Bible. I should not have been surprised at all with the idiocy of atheists. Psalms 14:1 "The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, [there is] none that doeth good."
Revelations 6:16
"And said to the mountains and rocks,
Fall on us, and hide us from the face
of him that sitteth on the throne,
and from the wrath of the Lamb"

I took the mensa test once as a lark. They offered to make me their king. I declined. The crown didn't have any fur on it.

An interesting commentary, Brother Barton!
One glitch: The ARIS that you linked to says that fewer than 1% of the US population identify as atheist, and fewer than 1% as agnostic. The larger figure you note is those identifying with no religion; this includes all sorts of people, like homeopaths, Oprahists or the evil Pastafarians (who we now know are actually summoning Yog-Sothoth).
This would suggest that atheists and agnostics are over-represented in MENSA, but those who choose no religion (or the "nones", as they call themselves, fittingly) are under-represented (15% of society vs. 9% of membership). Therefore, "nones" are, on average, less intelligent than the rest of society.
In good news, MENSAns appear to be overwhelmingly unsuccessful financially. This means that they cannot have significant influence in society! From their page:
about 30% earn $20-40,000, 9% earn $40-50,000, 10% earn $50-75,000, and about 0.5% earn more than $250,000.
Once again, the percentages add up to well below 100%. I guess this means the majority earn less than $20,000! Or maybe these folks just aren't clever enough to add.
Bible boring? Nonsense!

Alas, with more than double the population in America, than the UK and Ireland, it seems that the UK and Ireland is more intelligent. But this is plaintively wrong- since the Irish are overwhelmingly catholic (ie depraved boy butt loving sinners), and in the UK atheist, with a strong muslim minority (ie paedophiles).
So how do we account for this? (Apart from the Landover Baptists in the UK.)
Then I realised - Mensa, is a subtle organisation promoted by Satan. He tries to distort facts, to claim Christians are not as intelligent as others!
Note the fact, the more secular the country, the greater the number of non Christian members as a proportion of the population. And then there are other countries, so debauched in hedonism, such as Canada, where satan has already conquered, and needs no deception - and only adds atheists.
It gives me hope for my England yet.

I wholeheartedly agree that Canada sucks and is on the road to Hell. But you are delusional if you don't believe England is even further down that road. At least Canada has the advantage of being next to Godly America and that has helped in saving the 33% of us who accept Christ and vote for the Conservative Party, the government of Canada. America has swung left, we have swung right.
1 in 3 Canadians is a True Christian™. What's the number for England? 1 in 10? 1 in 100?

I'm glad you noticed this! I was hoping someone would bring it up. The examples you mention, in my opinion, are accounted for in the "other religious groups" category. These are the loose groups sociologist Thomas Luckmann anticipated with the emergence of an increasingly de-institutionalized form of religious identification. Atheists, the majority of those claiming "no religion", and a portion those refusing the survey are all de facto atheists. That the majority of these are too stupid to understand that their belief system is properly called Atheism shouldn't surprise anyone.
I feel charitable in going with 14%. It is probably much higher but obviously not as bad as Canada (23%), Germany (25%) or France (33%). It is often under-reported here, with respondents deliberately giving false answers to undermine surveys. One reason they do this is so hidden atheist moles can come up with articles like "Cross-National Correlations of Quantifiable Societal Health with Popular Religiosity and Secularism in the Prosperous Democracies" where they embed all sorts of shocking false assertions: Indeed, the data examined in this study demonstrates that only the more secular, pro-evolution democracies have, for the first time in history, come closest to achieving practical “cultures of life” that feature low rates of lethal crime, juvenile-adult mortality, sex related dysfunction, and even abortion. The least theistic secular developed democracies such as Japan, France, and Scandinavia have been most successful in these regards. The non-religious, pro-evolution democracies contradict the dictum that a society cannot enjoy good conditions unless most citizens ardently believe in a moral creator. The widely held fear that a Godless citizenry must experience societal disaster is therefore refuted. Contradicting these conclusions requires demonstrating a positive link between theism and societal conditions in the first world with a similarly large body of data – a doubtful possibility in view of the observable trends.

It's easily possible that the UK Mensans have relaxed their standards... perhaps to the 20% percentile. More likely, UK standards are reduced all the way down to signing up anyone willing to pay membership dues.
IOW, corruption is the like answer for the UK numbers.

My brother joined Mensa for one year, he never bothered to renew his membership. He said it was like the Internet IQ arguments. Some even bring their IQ Test results to the meetings.
He said arguments went like this.
MENSA IDIOT (MI): I think they should make buildings out of straw.
Brother: Well, uh.... I'm a civil engineer and there is a very good reason we make buildings the way we do
MI: Your IQ is only 165, mine is 166 therefore I am right and you are wrong.
Brother: Yeah, but you're a dentist. This would be like me telling you how to fill a cavity.
MI: Hauls out Test results, SEE I'M SMARTER THAN YOU! THEREFORE I'M RIGHT!!!!11!!1
Sound familiar? The only difference is that this was happening in real life.

Well here's the final proof that MENSA is nothing but a giant conspiracy by bif jewery: Now they're claiming that a gypsy girl is the smartest human being ever.
Quote:
12-year-old British Gypsy girl scores higher than Einstein on IQ test
The 12-year-old daughter of migrant Roma workers in England is raising the bar on human intelligence.
Nicole Barr of Essex aced her IQ test with a perfect 162 score, outsmarting such noted geniuses as Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.
The score places Nicole among the top 1% of the population. The average IQ score for adults is 100, and anything higher than 140 is considered genius level.
“When I found out I got such a high score, it was so unexpected,” Nicole told the Western Daily. “I was so shocked.”
She took the Mensa IQ test with her father James Barr, 36, who had a hunch she’d be accepted into the illustrious society, for intellects who score in the 98th percentile.
“She’s always loved numbers and puzzles, and she’s always been excellent at math, performing several years ahead of her age group in school,” Barr told Yahoo Parenting. “She likes challenging herself.”
Nicole lives in a Gypsy caravan with her father and baby half-sister. The proud father said her academic achievement has been the talk of the community, also known as Roma.
“It’s nice for us to be in the news for something good for a change,” Barr said. “This shows that it doesn’t matter where you come from, anyone can be academically brilliant.”
The preteen genius outsmarted Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, scoring two points higher than them.
She was always more academically mature than her fellow peers in elementary school and she could calculate complex algebra before she was 10.
The preteen attends Burnt Mill Academy in Harlow, where she acts in school plays and aspires to be a doctor one day.
“Nicole is a brilliant pupil,” said Helena Mills, head of Burnt Mill Academy. “She works incredibly hard and has thrown herself into many different activities in her first year with us."
Only 110,000 members worldwide have been accepted into the exclusive Mensa society; 20,000 are from the British Isles, 35% of its members are female and only 8% are younger than 16.
“Only children can get a score higher than 161, because that is the maximum IQ score for an adult. The test is age-adjusted for children,” said Ann Clarkson, a Mensa spokeswoman.
Mensa said child geniuses are academically mature for their age, well-versed in a particular subject, have an incredible memory and prefer spending time with older people.

The thing that gypsies tend to be best at is cheating*. The thing that gypsies tend to be worst at is taking IQ tests. You do the math.

You have to read to the end to see why it's baloney.
Quote:

She's not actually smarter than Einstein, it's just that the test has a score cap of 161 for adults. Likewise, her score is artificially inflated due to her age (and, one suspects, her race and sex). She probably can't even spell "relativity." The average gypsy IQ is 70, lower than that of a gorilla.
With that said, Ken Ham is smarter than Einstein. All the brains in the world don't mean a thing if they're going to be scooped out of your skull by demons and replaced with Satan's burning, bubbling seed the moment you die.
