Dear Franklin,
I would not be afraid of the effects of that punctuation mark per se but only of the terminology. Thus, if you refrain from saying or writing "semi-c***n" or "c***n" and use instead the correct expressions for these marks (: and ;), you'd be in no danger of being contaminated with rectal demons.
An example: Your wife asks "Should I place a semi-c***n here" But don't panic. In the future she can say "Should I place a punctuation mark consisting of an equally sized dot and a comma centered on the same vertical line here". Safe and practical!
Here's some good additional advice:
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
Yours in Christ,
Elmer

Well, I don't know that it's unfathomable for a man to always ask advice of a woman. After all, how would a man know where anything in the kitchen was? In matters of Spiritual discernment however, I always defer to the Holy Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). Pray, read the Bible, and ask the LORD for instruction. If you ask in faith, He will answer you with a definitive answer, or perhaps a subtle clue to be gleaned from an otherwise seemingly natural occurrence. Then again, sometimes He does not answer our prayers in a timeline we expect due to our human, and therefore fallible understanding of time (2 Peter 3:8), and it only looks to the flesh like He is unable or unwilling to intervene. But He always answers the prayers of the faithful (2 Peter 3:8)! He is a good God (Psalm 100:5)! Such a faithful God to those who follow His commandments unconditionally and without reservation (Deuteronomy 7:9)!
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Sister, that caused a lot of laughter here when I read it out to the girls and one of them replied, quick as a flash, "Why would he need to know?" And right on cue, there was a shout from the next room: "Will someone bring me the corkscrew! Right now, please!"

Franklin, are you still here?
I mentioned in this post that I had asked the lady author about the hardback version. I have now had a reply, though unfortunately it was not from the lady author and did not address the question. Instead it was from another commentator on the site and reads as follows:

Forgive me for intruding, but isn't the 20-year-old granddaughter an adult who is allowed by law to read whatever she wants?

This intrusion into your private family business is extremely offensive, even though the young man is obviously not a Christian and so knows no better. Tell me, is there anything in particular you would like me to say in reply?

Hi Joanna. Franklin is a bit under the weather right now, and has been for a while. I'll let him know you were responding to something of his.
Yes, that is particularly offensive that the obvious Satan-worshiper does not understand how a True CHristian household is ran. First and foremost, although she is 20, she would be incorrect to manage her lifestyle without a man giving guidance.
Secondly, while she is capable of her own decisions, reading a book promoting witchcraft and Satan should be enough to deter the reader.
As a female, I am unable to offer you advice as to what to reply to that. Perhaps ask your husband?
However, Franklin and I would most definitely like to thank you for looking into the matter for us. God bless you.
Walking with Christ,
Pearl

Hello I am new to this forum and have found it vastly interesting. I am however a Harry Potter fan and I find the rewriting of the books to be disrespectful. If you don't want your children to read them then do not let them. You are there parents and it is up to you to decide what is best for them. I was at the library a few days ago and there was a lovely section for Christian fiction. I do not think if I took one of those books and rewrote them to depict my beliefs if would be fair. Before your reply to this post in an unkind manner, although I am not Christian I am not hateful of the religion. I actually check out one the Christian fiction books and found it to be very well written.

Instead of reading "Christian fiction" why not pick up the Bible and read some True Christian™ non-fiction.
Also, do us the courtesy of introducing yourself here.

Hi, Chantal. Perhaps I can help you see this from a different perspective, the correct perspective. You see, Christ temporarily SUFFERED and DIED on the Cross for some of us. He did this not because He had to, after all, being God from since before time (John 1:1), He could have easily snapped His Divine Fingers and forgiven us, or even created the laws of physics to include Salvation to all, but that's neither here nor there, because He DID temporarily suffer and die for us. And in doing so, He put Himself through physical and emotional distress. I've been through labor a number of times, and while it's true each labor was many times longer than Christ's suffering on the Cross, His suffering was much worse because it took into account everyone's sins. How do you put a price on Sin? You can't. That's how. And how does mankind repay Him? With gratitude? With repentance? Hard. Ly. Mankind repays Him by inviting Satan into their homes through such diabolical tools as this witch story. Harry Potter makes witchcraft and magic look "cool" and "hip." All the kids want to do it. And what will it get them? An eternity in HELL. If you think that's not offensive - to drive your children to suffer for ever and ever and ever and never ever get a break from it - then you must have no morals and hate children as much as you hate Jesus.

That is your belief and you are entitled to it. It is not everyone's belief and I view freedom of literature is as important as freedom of speech. If my mother did not wish me to read a book it is her job as parent not to let me. My point was if someone, say a Muslim, was rewriting a popular Christian fiction book book to better fit there beliefs I think you would be upset and rightly so. Also I used Christian fiction as an example because Harry Potter is of the fiction type.

First of all, this is NOT a debate forum. We're right and you're wrong, according to Jesus and the Holy Word of God. Please read THIS thread before making an even bigger fool of yourself.
Secondly, while the internets might seem to be "free" to you, this particular corner of the internets is a privately owned Christian forum. The rights you have on this forum are listed HERE. Please contact a Pastor immediately if you feel that any of your rights have been violated.
Finally, your unsaved opinions or tantrums are not even slightly of interest to us. We follow the Holy Word of God TO THE LETTER, and make no apologies for that. One of the most important commandments in the Bible tells us to avoid unsaved scum such as yourself. You wandered in here uninvited, and unwelcome .
Can you find a Scripture that says "free speech" is something that God condones? Because I don't see it in my Bible.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Hello! Cas here. Of course all kids want to go to Hogwarts! A childs imagination can take them to many places. My daughter Sarah wanted to go to Hogwarts when me and Sally read her the books, so when she turned eleven we had a sorting ceremony and did Harry Potter themed stuff. All of this is brilliant! You are encouraging a child to open their mind to many different things! At the end of the day, they know it's not real, no matter how many pygmtouffs you buy them! There is nothing wrong with encouraging a child's imagination!

Sally, those books are the antithesis of the Bible! The book promotes that women are equal to men and will tell them what to do (Ephesians 5:22 Violation), witchcraft is good (Exodus 22:18) and that breaking rules is ok (Romans 13:5 Violation) and that's only the beginning. The Bible is the way to heaven and demands complete obedience. I can't because of my desire to obey the Lord read those books, rather I am to condemn them for they are wrong according to the Lord. I strongly suggest burning them as the trash they are (just like the writer will also burn, but in the eternal bowels of Hell).
