"Gross National Happiness": latest heresy from the Buddhists -
05-07-2009, 06:38 PM
Buddhist kingdom pushes notion of Gross National Happiness
In the tiny Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan, high in the Himalayan mountains, [u]nder a new Constitution adopted last year, government programs from agriculture to transportation to foreign trade must be judged not by the economic benefits they may offer but by the happiness they produce.
The notion of gross national happiness was the inspiration of the former king, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, in the 1970s as an alternative to the gross national product.
Now, the Bhutanese are refining the country's guiding philosophy into what they see as a new political science, and it has ripened into government policy just when the world may need it, said Kinley Dorji, secretary of information and communications.
[...]
The Bhutanese have started with an experiment within an experiment, accepting the resignation of the popular king as an absolute monarch and holding the country's first democratic election a year ago.
The change is part of attaining gross national happiness, Mr. Dorji said. They resonate well, democracy and G.N.H. Both place responsibility on the individual. Happiness is an individual pursuit and democracy is the empowerment of the individual.
[...]
Once Bhutan said, O.K., here we are with G.N.H., the developed world and the World Bank and the I.M.F. and so on asked, How do you measure it? Mr. Dorji said, characterizing the reactions of the world's big economic players. So the Bhutanese produced an intricate model of well-being that features the four pillars, the nine domains and the 72 indicators of happiness.
[...]
Mathematical formulas have even been devised to reduce happiness to its tiniest component parts. The G.N.H. index for psychological well-being, for example, includes the following: One sum of squared distances from cutoffs for four psychological well-being indicators. Here, instead of average the sum of squared distances from cutoffs is calculated because the weights add up to 1 in each dimension.
What do you think of this latest Buddhist heresy?
I'll give you my take: Jesus did not place us here to be "happy" but to be slaves of Jesus! Also, I don't like all the math involved - mathy types are prone to heresy, just look at how they disagree with the Bible over the value of Pi. ( 1 Kings 7:23 says it's exactly 3)
Friends, pray for Bobby Jindal's victory in 2012 and for OPERATION BHUTANESE FREEDOM!

I assume that they have done this as they haven't got a GDP - they don't have one of those because they worship some grinning fat idiot whop spent all his time sitting under a tree.

Ecclesiastes 2:1 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it?
3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.
4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:
7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

The only true happiness is through Jesus. I keep telling the unsaved scum of the world that, but they don't seem to get it. Happiness isn't in a marijuana cigarette, nor is it in a rock and roll song, nor is it in some weird far-out religious cult that comes from China. Happiness comes from God. HE knows how to teach us all to be happy!
Quote:
Psalm 137:9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!
Forbes magazine, one of the most loyal instruments of the Invisible Hand of Jesus, has joined the happiness cult! Just look at this propaganda:
"World's Happiest Places: A new report reveals where people feel most positive about their lives"
...happiness levels are highest in northern European countries...- Denmark
- Finland
- Netherlands
- Sweden
- Ireland
- Canada
- Switzerland
- New Zealand
- Norway
- Belgium
...While the global economic crisis has taken a toll on every nation, the countries that scored at the top still boast some of the highest gross domestic product per capita in the world. Denmark, which got the highest score, is not only a wealthy country, it's also highly productive, with a 2009 GDP per capita of $68,000, according to the International Monetary Fund. The United States' GDP per capita, by contrast, is $47,335....
Wealth alone does not bring the greatest degree of happiness...
Low unemployment also contributes to happiness. "One thing we know for sure," says the OECD's Chapple, "not having a job makes one substantially less satisfied." Denmark's unemployment rate is just 2%, according the C.I.A.'s World Factbook. Norway's is just 2.6%. The Netherlands: just 4.5%. Many economists concur that a 4% unemployment rate reflects a stable economy. The U.S. unemployment rate is currently 9%.

Now the ecoterrorists have a measure of the "efficiency" of turning natural resources into happiness.
http://www.happyplanetindex.org/
The study concludes that the parts of the world that create the most happiness with the least use of resources - and hence the most efficient - are Central America and the Buddhists of South Asia.
Now, are we really to believe that the parts of the world that gave us the words "siesta" and "ladyboy" have more efficient economies than us?
It also says that islands tend to be more efficient at creating happiness. That just goes to show that racial purity ("inbreeding" as liberals call it) makes people happy, and race mixing mongrolization makes people unhappy. I don't need a study to know this!
I think these liberal-bias scientists should have taken their own advice - instead of working to make this study, take a siesta!

Dear friend:
All things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). Just consider how Jesus has guided True Christians™ to prove all of the following, despite the lie-berals' objections and their fallacious claims of "factual relativism": - the existence of WMD's in Towelheadistan under Saddam Hussein;
- the fact that all homosexuals are pedophiles and that all pedophiles are homosexuals;
- the fact that the universe was created in six days in 4004 B.C.; and
- the success of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush in making government smaller, less expensive, and less intrusive.

Would the 72 indicators of happiness be 72 virgins ??
I have often wondered if the Hindoo and the Mooslam scourges weren't in cahoots !!!!!
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are un Godly among them of all their un Godly deeds which they have un Godly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which un Godly sinners have spoken against him.

Some scholars of the Is-lame-ic religion say that "virgins" is a mistranslation of "white raisins." If so, I can hardly wait to see the look on the mooselimbs' faces when they arrive in hell and the devil says to them, "Here are the 72 white raisins that I promised you, but don't scarf them down all at once 'cause you have to make them last for all eternity."

Lets see... Columbia 66.1 . . . perhaps they're enjoying the plant life down there a bit too much? My happiness index would go way up if we dumped a load of Roundup on those folks.

That sounds like a wonderful idea, and totally confirms to Jesus' attitude about money. We should give all of our money and then we'll be happy. It just goes to show you that all religions are a path towards God!

How happy is your country? In a report released for the meeting, economists John Helliwell, Richard Layard and Jeffrey Sachs round up what is known about happiness around the globe...
According to polls taken from 2005 to 2011, these were the happiest countries:
- Denmark
- Finland
- Norway
- Netherlands
- Canada
- Switzerland
- Sweden
- New Zealand
- Australia
- Ireland
So the world's happiest people are the scandanavian socialists, the grannykilling Dutch, followed by a whole bunch of unAmericans?
If this is "happiness" then I'd rather be miserable. Better a bad life followed by eternal bliss than "heaven on earth" followed by damnation.
And on the bottom of the list is all the African countries - what a racist study. Everybody knows blacks are happy, why else would they sing so much?

Just look at the list. Half of them are happy because they've od'ed on Absolut and the other half are either sheep prodders or dyke stabbers.
Let's count happy in heaven!
