Research on Tongues -
11-09-2006, 11:00 PM
Well I'm not too surprised. The secular world has decided to "do research" into the Godly gift of tongues. No doubt they hope to understand it better in order to artificially re-create it so that Disneyland might exploit another one of God's Blessings for profit. Now that satan is in control of the American Congress, we can look for more of this kind of thing. Notice the source is satan's favorite newspaper.

Science and Religion:
A Neuroscientific Look at Speaking in Tongues
The New York Times, USA
Nov. 7, 2006
The passionate, sometimes rhythmic, language-like patter that pours forth from religious people who “speak in tongues” reflects a state of mental possession, many of them say. Now they have some neuroscience to back them up.
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania took brain images of five women while they spoke in tongues and found that their frontal lobes — the thinking, willful part of the brain through which people control what they do — were relatively quiet, as were the language centers. The regions involved in maintaining self-consciousness were active. The women were not in blind trances, and it was unclear which region was driving the behavior.
The images, appearing in the current issue of the journal Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging, pinpoint the most active areas of the brain. The images are the first of their kind taken during this spoken religious practice, which has roots in the Old and New Testaments and in charismatic churches established in the United States around the turn of the 19th century. The women in the study were healthy, active churchgoers.
“The amazing thing was how the images supported people’s interpretation of what was happening,” said Dr. Andrew B. Newberg, leader of the study team, which included Donna Morgan, Nancy Wintering and Mark Waldman. “The way they describe it, and what they believe, is that God is talking through them,” he said.
Dr. Newberg is also a co-author of “Why We Believe What We Believe.”
In the study, the researchers used imaging techniques to track changes in blood flow in each woman’s brain in two conditions, once as she sang a gospel song and again while speaking in tongues. By comparing the patterns created by these two emotional, devotional activities, the researchers could pinpoint blood-flow peaks and valleys unique to speaking in tongues.
Ms. Morgan, a co-author of the study, was also a research subject. She is a born-again Christian who says she considers the ability to speak in tongues a gift. “You’re aware of your surroundings,” she said. “You’re not really out of control. But you have no control over what’s happening. You’re just flowing. You’re in a realm of peace and comfort, and it’s a fantastic feeling.”
Contrary to what may be a common perception, studies suggest that people who speak in tongues rarely suffer from mental problems. A recent study of nearly 1,000 evangelical Christians in England found that those who engaged in the practice were more emotionally stable than those who did not. Researchers have identified at least two forms of the practice, one ecstatic and frenzied, the other subdued and nearly silent.
The new findings contrasted sharply with images taken of other spiritually inspired mental states like meditation, which is often a highly focused mental exercise, activating the frontal lobes.

Well of course it would look nothing like "meditation". That is a form of demon possession, as is well-known by creation scientists. The gift of tongues is controlled by Jesus directly.
1 Corinthians 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all
The trouble with this study is clear enough to me; they used women as their test subjects. Women have no business speaking in Church anyway.
1 Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Maybe they should do some research on why women like to flap their pie-holes so much.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

That's just typical. My unsaved accountant once showed me an article from that same satanically inspired "news"paper that presumed to show a "neurological" reason for the ability of prophets to hear from God. I guess those people will believe just about anything, as long as it isn't in the Bible.
Those scientists are so addled by demonic influences that they can't even look at the right organ. The Bible quite clearly says that we think with our hearts and emote with our kidneys:
Prov. 23:7: For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart [is] not with thee.
Prov. 23:16: Yea, my reins* shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
*an old word for kidneys
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

Meditation is not a form of demonic possession. It is a wonderful way to become centered on the inner light that Mother/Father God has given to each of us. As for whether women should speak in church, in tongues or otherwise, if that of God in each of us leads them to do so, it isn't for us to say so. You really ought to read the Bible in line with modern concepts of textual criticism.

No, you should read the Bible how God wants you to, literally.

So, you don't think that God got it right? You think that when His prophets directly put down His dictated word, the almighty made a slip up? Your blasphemy sickens me. God is divine, and He is perfect. He doesn't make mistakes.
You, however, continue to make the mistake of believing that God is some "Father/Mother". This is lieberal lies designed to sway you from God. You've also made the mistake of refuting Landover, and unless you correct these mistakes you're on the fast track to Hell.

So are you saying that the God in me; that tells me everything I need to know is in the Bible and all I have to do is study it, tithe and attend Church; is the same God that's telling the homers to put their penises in each other's butts?

Darren Ingram-Myers, just because you have a demon trapped inside of you does not mean that we all do. Those homers have demons inside of them, not God! And you are obviously riddled with them, or else you wouldn't post such blasphemy.

How DARE you post such vomit-inducing tripe here, tofu-muncher! The only "inner light" emanating from within YOU is the radioactive glow of demon possession; True Christians™, however, are spotlighted by the pure, white light of Jesus Himself.

That mormon Myers just won't stop saying all these offensive things about "tolerance" and "understanding" and "inner light". If only he'd stop and listen to the people here, instead of rambling about his crossdressing parent, he might have a chance of being saved.
Jeremiah.17.15
Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
