Thank you for letting me join you in Praise -

Thank you for letting me join you. I praise our Lord and hope to learn from you all.
"Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. - Deuteronomy 4:10"
I try to be a good daughter and pure christian girl. My daddy says that a strong community helps raise a godly daughter.
Thanks in advance for your advice and guidance in the Lord's way.

Hello and to our Godly forum!
Very good choice of verse indeed! (Even though you somehow ate the first part of it, the one about gathering people in Horeb. You know what Deuteronomy 4:2 says about substracring from God's Word, don't you?). False Christians so often claim that God is love - while He Himself teaches us that He is Fear and to be feared.
I look forward more of your contributions on the forum!

I'm not sure that you have "joined" us yet, I cannot find your name on the list of tithers, and I have no idea of you social status - it is always difficult with women - married, widowed, single, divorced, second husband, married late husband's brother, etc. etc. but I am pleased by your chosen verse:
It is interesting that you choose Deuteronomy for your verse, as the book has a most fascinating history:
In 2 Kings 22:8 is says, "And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it."
And the book of Kings constantly refers to the Annals of the Kings of Judah and the Annals of the Kings of Israel, which were obviously two large and lengthy indexes maintained through the reigns of each king of both states.
Now the Jews, who are invariably wrong on matters of Christian belief and are in league with Satan, considered the book in 2:Ki:22:8 to be "The Torah" - we know this is a lie as the Torah did not appear until later.
What was around at the time, was King Josiah who had thought of, but apparently never written down, a whole mess of reforms - the Jews needed these, we all know how disorganised they are.
First, read everything about Josiah in 2 Kings 22-23 then Chronicles 34-35 - which add details missing from the book of Kings.
Then go to Deuteronomy and read the laws and concerns expressed therein and notice the fascinating ways in which they line up.
(There will be a short test on this later, if you are still with us.)
Now, we know that Deuteronomy was written by Moses and laid out rules for the Jews.
The miraculous thing is that, although the Book of Deuteronomy lay hidden for all of those years, King Josiah - desperate for reform - was on the throne when Deuteronomy was found and it had all of his reforms in it!
God does indeed work in a most mysterious, but most satisfying way.
If you further consider it, because there was so much time between Moses and King Josiah, something that never dies must have had a hand in it - Of course, this was God.
Science has never been able to explain such things as this, but God is all-knowing.

Hello Amy! Should I deduce from your username that you are fourteen years old?
My, my, my, what a wonderful age to be.
Yes indeed.

My understanding was that she was the 14th Mary in Maryland - this speaks well of Maryland where, despite the name of the state, there seems to be very few Catholics - Catholics always call their daughters "Mary".

Miss Amy,
I am most curious about your education. Your username indicates that you're an MD, i.e., a medical doctor. Of course, this is most impressive at your age, but don't you think that your time would have been spent more profitably by immersing yourself into Biblical texts? After all, medicine is mostly useless based on that very Book!
Jeremiah 46:11
Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.
Yours in Christ,
Elmer
2 Kings 18:25 - Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

Well, this is a relief! However, your life in Maryland must be a constant struggle against the forces of evil. After a relatively quick study in Godly Creation Science I was able to obtain information about the state of religion in your State. I found out that less one one half one your inhabitants have any kind of Spirituality (42.4%) and of these, the largest group are Papists ( 15.13%)! No wonder they named the Sate after the Catholic Goddess!
The 15.13% must have made you think about John 15:13 immediately (it sure made me ponder upon that verse).
John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
This begs the question, how do you work for the fulfillment of the Commandments of Jesus (Ecclesiastes 12:13). However, perhaps we should also consider some other verses by 15:13 that would probably fit even better the situation in your State.
2 Chronicles 15:13
That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
What are your thoughts about which 15:13 would be the most appropriate for the Spiritual state of Maryland? I am open to other verses in addition to those cited above, not Exodus 15:13, though!
Exodus 15:13
Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.
Doesn't seem to fit the Marylandists, does it? More like Jeremiah, don't you agree?
Jeremiah 15:13
Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.
As for you, I am sure that we can help to attain the ultimate goal as depicted in Romans.
Romans 15:13
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Looking forward to your opinions on this!
Yours in Christ,
Elmer

I didn't know that about maryland, it's bad.
We got lots of good Christians near us, so the others is somewhere else I think.
1 Peter 4:16 - Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
