My nephew wants to be a cheerleader -

When my brother told me his son wanted to be a cheerleader, I was ready to shoot him, and his son. But then he reminded me George Bush was a cheerleader! If the most Godly president in history was a cheerleader, is it a sin?

Is it possible to be a cheerleader in a manly way? I didn't even know men could be cheerleaders. I thought it was just a way for slutty American girls to flaunt themselves in order to trap a husband from the football team.
I was clearly misinformed. Those guys look as straight and manly as can be.

Mr. Mayfield, that is a tough one. While it's true that George W. Bush was a cheerleader a private boarding school (Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts), as he once explained he had some "youthful indiscretions" before the age of 45 or so. I'm sure that now he would never consider:
- going to a private boarding school in the Godless northeast
- snorting cocaine
- drinking lots of whiskey
- being a cheerleader
- giving up his flying status during wartime while serving in the Reserves
- having daughters
- Etc., etc.
He has put those things behind him (1 Corinthians 13:11) and I would suggest that you advise your nephew to do likewise.

But, if George Bush was a cheerleader, then there must be some redeeming qualities in the sport. George Bush may have had some indescretions, but being gay was not one of them!

I agree. Perhaps there are gay wrestlers and fine young manly men who can writhe around with each other in sweaty combat without once going for the anus or in any way becoming homers.
Similarly there must be something manly about standing on the sidelines cheering on other men who are putting their bodies on the line for you. Bush must have used it in some way to prepare himself for later life as a fine leader of men.

Now that we know that some of our Godly Leaders™ such as George Bush and Rick Perry were cheerleaders, it's only a matter of time before some others "come out" and report they, too, lead cheers while in school.
And here, I'm thinking of Herman Cain leading cheers in a some jig school, Mitt jumping up and down at a school of that sect he belongs to, and Marcus Bachmann rooting for the hairdresser squad at his cosmetology alma mater.

Maybe certain vocations and hobbies aren't as faggy as they first appear and straight and noble people destined to be great leaders of men on truly holy paths can partake of them without mockery.

George Bush went to Andover an all boys college at that time, cheerleading was not a "girly" thing to do there. It was a way for the manly George to get involved in the sports, to influence people and become known throughout the school. Going to all the sports events and cheering his friends on, in the same way we might at a BBQ, playing pool or burning the odd heathen, is not a gay or queer thing to do.
Being a cheerleader now, is gay... sorry Brother Eliot

Male cheerleading for soccer is very gay though (as anything related to soccer), but for football it is extremely manly
