The subject came up recently during a rousing encounter between myself and my young protégé, Rico, who is a reforming spic and a brother in Christ.
It is my habit to greet Rico with a firm, manly handshake when he arrives at my home for private Bible Study. But this last time, as we clasped hands, Rico pulled me close to him and before I could react violently, he kissed me full on the mouth!
What deviltry is this, I asked myself. Soon after I felt his tongue slide past my teeth, I regained my senses and made ready to strike him. But before I could deliver the blow, he shouted at me in his thick accent: "1 Thessalonians 5:26!".
My resolve to destroy him faltered momentarily...then I balled my fist again, determined to transform his face into a crimson ruin.
Again he shouted: "1 Peter 5:14!".
Suddenly, I understood. It all came back to me in a flood of memories...I remembered my youth pastor, and how he had tried to instruct me in the ways of the "holy kiss", and how I rejected his tutelage time and again.
So now, an older and wiser man, I still know nearly nothing of proper technique. As eager as Rico is to teach me, it is I who Christ has cast into the role of mentor!
Any advice would be much appreciated!
