A little upset -
09-07-2010, 08:17 PM
Just a little upset at the moment, i decide to have a look in my late husbands work shed today as i needed some wire strippers to repair the electric fence as i had misplaced mine . This was the first time i had ventured in there since he had died . Oh the memories painful but deserved

Good times! I bet you remember with heartfelt desire to be paddled again by a loving hand. Was this bare-bottomed or through-the-knickers? And how fun for him to combine a sports theme with discipline! What a wonderful marriage, something for today's youth to aspire to.
Leviticus 13:44 He is a leprous man, he is UNCLEAN: the priest shall pronounce him utterly UNCLEAN; his plague is in his head.
2 Kings 6:25 And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

Well i thought i may be embarrassed to answer this but what is there to be embarrassed about it was both bare and non bare, he would often use the cricket bats on our sons when they were younger up until they were 18 and they married and had their own children you could often here my husband taking a run up before hearing the reassuring thwack on their behinds.
I will never forget the looks on both their faces when they opened their wedding presents and found that Frank had given them one of his prized cricket bats each, of which of course they are putting to good use.

Godly witnessing Mrs Tansper. Clearly Brother Tansper loved you a lot that he was so concerned for your spiritual well being.

Thank you for the offer of $1,000 and tempting as it is if i did sell the collection i would be selling my memories so instead i am thinking of turning Franks shed into a shrine and as well a the collection i will move his favorite beating chair in there as well. Do you all think this would be fitting or am i putting to much feeling into my past and should move on with my life.

This is a very inspiring story Sister Shela.
Cricket of course is not played in the USA. We have baseball. Unfortunately, at least for my own purposes, baseball bats are not suitable for administering discipline. They cause severe bruising and if used on the head, the injuries could be fatal. The local sheriff's deputies are often unable to discern the difference between spousal abuse and the Christian obligation to disipline a wife.
I'm seriously considering getting an oar, but a cricket bat would make for an interesting conversation piece and would also serve well as a suitable warning. I know Pastor Zeke offered you $1000.00 for the collection. Would you consider selling me just one?
Thanks!

It seems to me that a smart young man might just open a store in Freehold, and carry a supply of those cricket bats.
I would buy a few of them

Wow! What a bunch of fancy paddles!
I am a simple country man. I just use a old broken hickory axe handle with a rusty 16D nail sticking out of one end. That or a piece of chain hooked to the bumper of my dualie.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Thank you all again for the offers but i really feel that i can't break up this fine collection that hold so many fond memories for me.
There are some fine exporters of cricket bats but please a word of warning, make sure you get bats made from English white willow any thing other than this and you can guarantee they come from either india or pakistan. If my husband knew one thing is was to spot a genuine cricket bat.
