My fiancé agrees that it's a woman's role to stay home, cook, clean, raise the children, and obey her husband. He agrees that if the wife were to be disrespectful or not fulfill her duties, then it's ok to punish with something such as hitting. Not too much, though. (But shouldn't he beat me?)

However, he is not very controlling in some things. He doesn't believe it's his job to monitor things such as tv or Internet usage, and he doesn't believe that women are worth less than men. Below men, yes, but not worth less.

But aren't they worth less? Should I be concerned that he won't keep me in my place as his wife? Is it my place to ask him to be stricter, or should I not question him? I don't want to disappoint him. What should my role be in this situation? Please help?

Why in God's name did your father arrange a marriage for you with this loser? Unfortunately, it's not your place to question the menfolk, so you're stuck with him. I wouldn't call him gay, he is strict, and doesn't tolerate any disrespect at all. He does know he's the head of the house, too. The only problem is his punishments aren't harsh, just hitting me in the face once or twice, or yelling. I don't mess up much, could that be why? I hate upsetting him but shouldn't he be beating me more? Should he trust me so much and only monitor things like where I am and what I'm doing, or should he have even more control?

While some rules are okay. Some, such as women needing to stay home does not work very well in this society. The standard of living has gone up in the past few decades. Unless the husband has a very well paying job, then its unlikely that a family will be able to spend much on many things that are considered normal nowadays. Things like internet or cable, or taking vacations. In a modern society, the wife would have to work or these things would go away. Especially if the husband dies or is injured, who will bring home the money.
