Excellent Dining on a Budget -

My wife Delores and I don't usually go out to restaurants on church days, so it's rare that we ever go out. But last night we went to Landover's newest fancy restaurant, The Chow Factory on Route 49 near Old Indian Treaty Road. I had the Curly Noodles with Cream, Butter and Italian Cheese Sauce ($9.75) and Delores, always the thrifty homemaker, had the Lightly Toasted Bologna and Brick Cheese Sandwich on Hearty White Bread (listed as Market Price, $7.95 last night). Both came with a nice dinner salad and plenty of bread sticks. It was wonderful.
The decorations are very cosmopolitan-- you'd think you were at a fancy restaurant in the suburb of an office park! There is a framed picture of Winston Churchill wearing sunglasses, the head of a bear mounted over the door (wearing sunglasses!), old-timey metal signs for antique products, and a barber pole outlined in green neon. It's crazy, and very creative!
The service was excellent-- a kid working his way through Landover Baptist University-- so we splurged and left a $2.75 tip!
I'd recommend it to anyone in the Landover area that wants to have an elegant, night out on the town. The Chow Factory is going to give Olive Garden and Red Lobster a run for their money on elegant dining!
