Lieberal Lies: The Crusades -
10-07-2010, 09:28 AM
Friends, I know most of you were home-schooled, so I am sure that you have managed to avoid most of the lies so horribly ingrained in our school system. For those of us who were forced into the secular school system, the myth of the Christian crusaders as dark age barbians hell-bent on murdering and raping a peaceful, advanced and tolerant Mooslim civilization should be familiar to you. This is simply not the case. The fact of the matter is that the Crusaders were holy warriors doing God's work and protecting all of Christendom from a culture intent on stamping it out entirely.
A (very) brief history of the Crusades
The Crusades were a series of military campaigns fought between 1096 A.D to 1291 A.D for the reconquest of the Holy Land. By 1096 the Mooslim empire had taken over much of the Middle East, North Africa, a good amount of Spain and Portugal, and was making inroads in Turkey (which was controlled by the Byzantine empire at the time). The Byzantine emperor appealed to the Cathlick church for help, which in a rare moment of level-headedness realized that something needed to be done before the Mooslim threat overran all of Europe. They organized a series of armies which managed to retake the Holy Land and Spain, install a Christian government in Jerusalem for the first time in centuries, and liberate many poor Christians living under the yoke of the Mooslims. Unfortunately, their success in the Holy Land was not to last, and they were steadily pushed back until in 1291 they were forced to abandon it completely when Acre fell.
Lie #1: The Crusades were wars of aggression against a peaceful Mooslim society
As I have already pointed out, by the time of the First Crusade the Mooslims had overrun much of the Christian world. In fact, just to put it in perspective for everyone, they had control over roughly 2/3 of the Christian world at the time. And they had only been around for roughly 400 years at that point! If anyone was waging unprovoked wars of aggression, it was obviously the moon-worshipers.
Lie #2: The Mooslims were a tolerant people who embraced religious diversity while the Crusaders were hateful bigots
In truth, it was only during the time that the Crusaders ruled Palestine that people enjoyed the civil rights of not being sold into slavery or put to death for their religious beliefs. Even the average Mooslims preferred to live under Christian rule, as is shown by this quote by Ibn Jubayr, a Mooslim historian:
"We moved from Tibnin - may God destroy it - at daybreak on Monday. Our way lay through continuous farms and ordered settlements, whose inhabitants were all Muslims living comfortably with the Franks. God protect us from such temptation. They surrender half their crops to the Franks at harvest time, and pay as well a poll-tax of one dinar and five qirat for each person. Other than that, they are not interfered with, save for a light tax on the fruits of trees. Their houses and all their effects are left to their full possession. All the coastal cities occupied by the Franks are managed in this fashion, their rural districts, the villages and farms, belonging to the Muslims. But their hearts have been seduced, for they observe how unlike them in ease and comfort are their brethren in the Muslim regions under their (Muslim) governors. This is one of the misfortunes afflicting the Muslims. The Muslim community bewails the injustice of a landlord of its own faith, and applauds the conduct of its opponent and enemy, the Frankish landlord, and is accustomed to justice from him. He who laments this state must turn to God."
Lie #3: The Crusaders were only interested in economic benefits of the war
In truth, there were absolutely NO economic benefits to be had from crusading. Palestine was a relatively poor region, and the costs of raising and equipping armies were very high. Many nobles personally bankrupted themselves and their families to go on the Crusades and help protect the Christians living there.
Lie #4: When the Crusaders captured Jerusalem in 1099, they massacred so many people that the streets ran with blood
This literary convention is often parroted as a fact by people who like to believe a defensive war was a genocide. During medieval times, a city that was put under siege was given two choices: surrender and be spared, or resist and be sacked if they are defeated. Jerusalem resisted, and though many people were killed in the aftermath of the battle, many others were ransomed or let to go free. It was absolutely not any different from any other city's siege during the times. Furthermore, Jerusalem is a very large city. The amount of blood it would take to literally fill the streets would have required the deaths of more people than were living in the entire region, let alone only the city.
So there you have it; four reasons the Lieberals don't want you to know why we should be proud of this glorious time during Christian history.

Are we stuck in some sort of parallel universe where the local cultists here somehow manage to come to their senses with respect to the rich and sacred history of the Catholic Church?
The Christians this writer speaks of are, of course, the followers of the Holy Roman Church, the very Church He built on the rock of St. Peter!
Yes, that is correct. Back in simpler times, before the religious terrorism of Martin Luther and his ilk, we Catholics were, after over a thousand years, still doing the heavy lifting of Christianity and doing it rather well. (Just read the post above!)
It is articles like this that beg the question of how a good Catholic President would have handled the geopolitical landscape of the past forty years... a landscape rife with gardens of middle-eastern unrest. Had JFK not been murdered would a series of fine Papists held the Presidency and thus dealt with Islam the way Kennedy stared down the Russians during the Cuban Missile Crisis?
While it is all fine and good to have a Supreme Court dominated by Catholics, perhaps it is time to put another Catholic in the White House and bring some good old-fashioned guts and glory to the job. Over the centuries the evidence supports the premise that when Islam gets too uppity it has been we Catholics who have stepped up to defend Christian lands, peoples and values.
Bless you, my future converts turned Crusaders,

Unfortunately sir, the Crusades were roughly 700 years ago. That gave the Catholic church plenty of time to stop caring about Christianity and to start caring about the backsides of little boys.

Considering that you scumbags invented Islam in the first place, anything you do to counteract it now is like putting a band-aid on the massive wound Christianity received when you stabbed it in the back.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Lycia I applaud your research but like father Mo said thats all Catholic history girl but its good that you say Christianity remember at that time Catholics where also known as Christians. Remember when they say compare #'s between Muslims and Christians, Catholics are the ones that are putting 1 billion members the rest come from denominations.
Remember also that the Catholic Church put scripture together to form the Bible from tradition and word of mouth. Thessalonians 2:15
God Bless
Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
After the cathlicks created mooslims, they realized that in a mooslim controlled world kiddie fiddling would be frowned upon. So after loosing two-thirds of the christian world, the cathlick clergy managed to persuade the populace to take that land back. These peasants and knights, who presumably were normal heterosexuals, managed to do something that is commendable. That doesn't change the fact that the cathlick church is a corrupt, bloated organization built on the backsides of children.
And in my KJV bible, Thessalonians 2:15 doesn't read like that.

I don't see why this would be a problem, in any case. Clearly, if the Crusaders were True Christians, they would know from their study of Scripture that one should not blend with or tolerate heathens.

I think the crusades were sooo sad. If it wasn't for that, I bet the Muslims and Christians would have gotten together and realized that both of their spiritual paths have sooo many deep insights in common, and they would have combined them. There is so much truth and beauty in both the Bible and the Qu'ran when you ignore all the bad stuff.
Human beings are made of body, mind and spirit.
Of these, spirit is primary,
for it connects us to the source of everything,
the eternal field of consciousness.

The koran is nothing but "bad stuff."
The Holy Bible is to be obeyed from cover to cover.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

PROOF THE EARTH IS ROUND.
It's simple, really.
-Given you have a powerful enough magnifying object, stand on top of the Sears' Tower and tell me if you can see the Eiffel Tower, Taipei 101, Petronas Towers, or anything beyond the Northern Hemisphere. You can't, can you?
-If the Earth was flat, there would be no horizon, and don't say the horizon is a conspiracy because if you do, you never passed the second grade.
-Take a boat from wherever and sail all the way around the earth. You'll get right back where you started.
-Toilets and whirlpools on the Southern Hemisphere flush and swirl in the opposite direction of those on the Northern Hemisphere. This dictates that the Earth is a sphere, because if it was a prism, it would flush/swirl the same direction as all other toilets/whirlpools.
-If the Earth was a rectangular shape, there would be no room for any layer other than half of the crust, which I'd bet you theorize is yet another conspiracy (about the layers of the earth).
-If you stand on the North and South poles, a compass will go berserk, because of the strong magnetic force. Again, this would not happen if the Earth was flat.
-The Earth is no different from any other planet other than the fact we have all the necessary materials for life. That does not put, nor should it put, us in a superiority complex.
-If you get a powerful enough telescope, you CAN see satellites in space orbiting around Earth.
-A non-spherical object could not have a gravitational pull, and if the earth was flat, it would fall endlessly through space and time, and eventually be out of the heating radius of the Sun to be able to sustain life.
Enough said.

Totally illogical as such a device does not exist and objects would be in the way.

Spherical Earther irrational logic. If you look a Spherical Earther globe you will see land masses in the way. Boats don't sail on land.

Written by a conservative I bet.
The English of which I am one or at least my distant ancestors were very
good at saving populations from their heathen ways and of course had to
kill quite a few of the way. The Crusaders were just the same only they
were backed by the church who wanted the land of the bible keep for
themselves.
You need to read real history not school book type, I regard Christians and Muslims as equals - equally dangerous and equally
deluded. The reason Christians may seem less dangerous is because they were
the victors. If the roles of history were reversed and it was the Muslims
who annexed Europe instead of the other way around then I have no doubt it
would be Christians who would now be hijacking airliners and crashing them
into buildings.

This is a huge lie. Christianity has not yet been victorious over Islam. Islam is a huge religion, the followers of which control a great deal of land and resources. The reason they behave like psychopaths is not because "Christians annexed Europe". Why is Europe more important than the rest of the world? Or are you some kind of Eurocentric racist? Muslims aren't living in little concentration camps all over Europe. They are living in huge countries to the south and south east, where they dominate everything.
The fact that they can't control the entire world is a justification for their maniacal behavior?
On Judgment Day, we will be the victors!
