I am speaking hypothetically of course, because we know JESUS wouldn't join the military while gays were allowed to serve. (Unless it was to redeem or damn them.)
But this discussion is about growing closer to JESUS in our daily Christian walk, and yesterday as I was walking around the house talking to JESUS, I began to wonder which branch of our GODly military was His favorite.
I took out my pocket Bible and began searching for answers. I studied well into the evening, and laid awake in bed imagining JESUS wearing various military uniforms.
Genesis 19:24 is the beloved story of GOD
raining down fire from Heaven upon Sodom and Gomorrah because the people their misused their genitalia.
Maybe JESUS would prefer the air force?
Fire from the sky is a favorite method of our LORD and SAVIOR when it comes to wiping out evil, like this shed in Vietnam, possibly a gay brothel:
Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; -Genesis 19:24
And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. -Exodus 9:23
Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight. -2 Kings 1:14
These verses and others like them show GOD's creative genius when it comes to destruction, but raining down death from above is not the only weapon in His holy arsenal.
JESUS just might be a proud Navy captain!
One of GOD's greatest single acts of obliteration was of course the Great Flood that wiped out most humans and all of the dinosaurs.
And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. -Genesis 6:17
And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. -Exodus 14:28
But the Bible is brimming with stories of brave Christian troops marching into enemy cities to slay the men and procure the women.
Maybe JESUS is an Army general!
So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. -Joshua 6:20
Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. -1 Samuel 15:3
What do you think, church brethren?
