Greetings fellow Christians! -
06-22-2015, 05:25 PM
Hello, I became a Christian a few weeks ago. The long and short of it is that I became fed up with earthly pleasures, and wished to seek something higher. Where I am from we are taught that you should just pursue whatever pleasures your heart desires. But I came to realize that this just leads to becoming desensitized to pleasure... It's like doing drugs. At first it feels great, but then you just need more and more drugs to feel that way. And then nothing else in your life feels good except for drugs.
I personally felt anger at myself for doing drugs and other such things. But then I found Jesus. I realized that He suffered and died for MY sake. The same cultural and spiritual oppression that exists today existed in Jesus's time also. I believe this is why Jesus is directly connected to my suffering. He had a radical message of freedom, and with such a message people are going to hate You. But none the less Jesus bore the brunt of that hatred... so that we may follow Him.
Here are my favorite Bible passages...
Luke 14:26
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Mathew 10:21
And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against [their] parents, and cause them to be put to death.
Mathew 10:34
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Mathew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Mathew 19:6-8
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

Well said, young lady and welcome to our friendly forums. Who is your Pastor and what church do you go to?
Mat 5:17 is one of my favourite verses: too many people think it means Leviticus never happened.
YIC
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

You shouldn´t be mad at Dr. Niles, he just gave you a compliment on your use of scripture.

There's nothing inherently wrong in being a woman - they can be very useful. Look at Ruth - she's got a book of the Bible named after her. Why are you denying you are a woman... you're not one of those Lezbeans are you?

Oh dear, this isn't one of those who denies her race too, is it? That's all the rage now with liberals.
O come Lord Jesus.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! Wait, are you guys really serious? I can't tell if you're joking...
If you're just making fun of me then that's pretty pathetic. Trust me, I have a dick and two balls, and a beard, and I am 6 foot.... So shut it already.

Is this directed at everyone here? A mere glance at my profile would show you I´m not a Christian, a True Christian™ by a very long shot, young lady.

Why should we trust you? Your a liar and your father is the father of lies (John 8:44).

Such a simple error seems to have generated a powerful response, from you.
Why the anger?
Psalm 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
You need to be calmer, sir.
