The Preacher -
12-18-2006, 11:09 AM
On Credit
Every man who ever lived
lived on credit owed to our Lord;
lives on His Profit Sharing plan,
and agrees to pay charges for his life's condition
or burn money forever in Debtors' Perdition.

On Degeneration
On all of our nerves
there comes a sclerosis
as every vein
limes up in stenosis
while we inhale
what may be worse
sans Listerine, our halitosis.

On Drugs
Wrong turns
are sure to lead the lost
from Heaven's Gate to Burning Cross
to Homer Hills
then Druggers' Dens
where they do crack
and smoke within.

Do one about syrup of figs now.
(Sigh) In a True Christian™ way, of course. Don't want to be accused of being a bigger derailing heathen (though proud heathen)!

On Figments
Imagination run amok
in children will bestick their gut
with heathen thoughts which we must wipe
with Syrup of Figs and the paddle's swipe.

I read your poems
And you know what I think?
You can flush 'em
And just watch them sink
This rhyming thing ain't so hard
It's kinda predictable
An insult's on the card
Stop talkin' shit fool.
Now that, that don't kill me can only make me stronger.

Ok, can't edit so i may aswell write it here. Don't take offence to what I wrote... It's just poetry and not particularly good poetry at that.

That last line could do with a bit of work.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Yea, that's what I thought when I re-read it after I'd posted it.

As could the first seven.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

You're wasting your time brother
No one wants your bull
It won't find you a lover
Just go on the pull
No more shame for you family
Just put your pen down
But it's all the same to me
So go ahead and drown
Now that, that don't kill me can only make me stronger.

If it were funny, bright or cleverly done,
So far, so
---
Conceive toward a single goal.
Hone the one best point.
Stick it hard.
Now go sit on this
and think.
conceive
gestate: have the idea for; "He conceived of a robot that would help paralyzed patients"

Dameon, you're back . It's nice to have another liberal around. Your poem wasn't bad but yeah, the last line was a little out of place.
Peter, how about one about cats? The people here seem to hate cats and think that just because the bible doesn't say not to eat them, that it's ok to go around eating them. Maybe a nice cat poem would help them change their mind?
Wake up and smell the 21st Century!!
