Forbidden Fruit - Which Fruits are Safe for a Christian to eat? -
11-29-2011, 01:29 PM
Friends,
My daughter asked me earlier today "Daddy, why are we allowed to eat apples today, when Adam and Eve ate an apple 6,000 years ago and were thrown out of Eden for it?"
Naturally I explained to her that apples were NOT Forbidden Fruit, and that this had merely been a mistake in the translation of the word 'malum', which means 'evil', NOT 'apple'.
Potential forbidden fruits of the Garden of Eden include the pomegranate, the fig, the carob, the citron, the pear and the datura, which is why all of those are BANNED in our house.
However, many Baptists believe the Forbidden Fruit was actually a grape, which ties in with other verses where the fruit from the vine tree (ie. grapes) was forbidden.
Quote:
There is only one fruit in the Bible that's forbidden anywhere in the Bible.
Numbers 6:3 says He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree.
Notice the vine is a tree. Vine tree--that's forbidden fruit.
Why is the vine tree for a Nazarite "forbidden fruit"? Well, the vine tree is obviously forbidden fruit because it's a type of blood. The vine tree, grape juice, represents blood.
Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament.
Then grape juice is a type of blood!.
So now, we know that a tree is forbidden, and grape juice is forbidden to the Nazarite; but, if grape juice is a type of blood, then blood should be forbidden. Let's turn to Genesis 9, and notice that blood is forbidden. So blood and grape juice are inseparably connected.
Genesis 9:4: But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
|
This is why I have also BANNED the eating of grapes in our house.
I would think 'the banana' is also a VERY sinful fruit because of it's shape, and I have heard the eating of can cause homosexuality.
Can anyone tell me what other fruits are unsafe or sinful for a Christian to eat?

I think that if for some reason you HAVE to eat a banana (in a survival situation, for instance) you should peel it AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, then put it on a plate and slice it into pieces so that it no longer resembles a tallywacker.
Grapes...hmmm. Well, they are used to make wine and Our Lord Jesus Christ drank wine (Matthew 26, etc.). Of course in wine form grapes no longer resemble testicles, so maybe they are only good that way?
Hopefully a Pastor will be along to shed some light on this matter.

P.S. Naturally a starfruit is FORBIDDEN. The cross section looks like a poopy-hole:

I'm not so sure about God's view on fruit, but just in case I do not touch any fruit before they are de-homosexualized by my wife in to a form of pie.

Melons are not allowed in my house. They look like ladies body parts and then you cut them in half and it gets ever worse .

OK, I'm gonna stop you right there, brother. There is absolutely NO WAY I would eat ANY FRUIT that could give me AIDS! NO CHANCE! Even on a survival situation, I think i'd rather die than become a queer!
No disrespect meant, but even slicing it up wouldn't work, because when you tried to eat it you'd probably end up picturing it as a sliced up man's thingy, and that would be just gross. Yuck!

Hmmm... I hear what you're saying, brother, but did our Lord REALLY make give them a drink made from grapes? No, it was made from his blood. So, from the Bible, I think it's clear that we ARE allowed to drink wine, but only if it is made from Jesus' blood, and not if it is made from grapes. Least, that's what I understand from it, as The Bible says alcoholic drink is evil.
It is not just the amount one drinks that makes drinking a sin. God condemns the drink itself.
Prov 20:1 - "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
See, this is why I strongly believe we are allowed to drink wine ONLY if it is made by Jesus.
1) Genesis 9:20-26 - Noah became drunk; the result was immorality and family trouble.
2) Genesis 19:30-38 - Lot was so drunk he did not know what he was doing; this led to immorality
3) Leviticus 10:9-11 - God commanded priests not to drink so that they could tell the difference between the holy and the unholy.
4) Numbers 6:3 - The Nazarites were told to eat or drink nothing from the grape vine.
5) Deuteronomy 21:20 - A drunken son was stubborn and rebellious.
6) Deuteronomy 29:5-6 - God gave no grape juice to Israel nor did they have intoxicating drink in the wilderness.
7) Deuteronomy 32:33 - Intoxicating wine is like the poison of serpents, the cruel venom of asps.
8) Judges 13:4, 7, 14 - Samson was to be a Nazarite for life. His mother was told not to drink wine or strong drink.
9) 1 Samuel 1:14-15 - Accused, Hannah said she drank no wine.
10) 1 Samuel 25:32-38 - Nabal died after a drunken spree.
11) 2 Samuel 11:13 - By getting Uriah drunk, David hoped to cover his sin.
12) 2 Samuel 13:28-29 - Amnon was drunk when he was killed.
13) 1 Kings 16:8-10 - The king was drinking himself into drunkenness when he was assassinated
14) 1 Kings 20:12-21 - Ben-Hadad and 32 other kings were drinking when they were attacked and defeated by the Israelites.
15) Esther 1:5-12 - The king gave each one all the drink he wanted. The king was intoxicated when he commanded the queen to come.
16) Psalm 75:8 - The Lord’s anger is pictured as mixed wine poured out and drunk by the wicked.
17) Proverbs 4:17 - Alcoholic drink is called the wine of violence.
18) Proverbs 20:1 - Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging.

20) Proverbs 23:21 - Drunkenness causes poverty.
21) Proverbs 23:29-30 - Drinking causes woe, sorrow, fighting, babbling, wounds without cause and red eyes.
22) Proverbs 23:31 - God instructs not to look at intoxicating drinks.
23) Proverbs 23:32 - Alcoholic drinks bite like a serpent, sting like an adder.
24) Proverbs 23:33 - Alcohol causes the drinker to have strange and adulterous thoughts, produces willfulness, and prevents reformation.
25) Proverbs 23:34 - Alcohol makes the drinker unstable
26) Proverbs 23:35 - Alcohol makes the drinker insensitive to pain so he does not perceive it as a warning. Alcohol is habit forming.
27) Proverb 31:4-5 - Kings, Princes, and others who rule and judge must not drink alcohol. Alcohol perverts good judgment.
28) Proverbs 31:6-7 - Strong drink could be given to those about to perish or those in pain. Better anesthetics are available today.
29) Ecclesiastes 2:3 - The king tried everything, including intoxicating drink, to see if it satisfied. It did not. (Ecclesiastes 12:8)
30) Ecclesiastes 10:17 - A land is blessed when its leaders do not drink.

46) Daniel 5:4 - Drinking wine was combined with praising false gods.
47) Daniel 5:23 - God sent word to Belshazzar that punishment would be swift for the evil he had committed.

Personally, I think it's best to avoid eating any of the fruits that a vegetarian would eat. And the vegan fruits are right out.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Brother, do vegetarians even eat fruit? I thought they only ate vegetables? Not sure the difference between vegans and vegetarians tho? Well, apart from all vegans being queers and beaners. Though I can't imagine a straight heterosexual man not eating red meat, so both groups seem like gays to me. Maybe it's the pagan (wiccan) thing, as I know all Vegans worship the Devil? Anyone know the difference?

Thanks Pastor, I'm still trying to figure out what the difference is between vegetarians and vegans.
My sister says the only difference is that vegetarians are allowed to eat chicken, whereas vegans aren't. None of them are allowed to eat fruit, because apparently that's fruitarians? There certainly are a lot of weirdos out there.

No talk about apples. In Gen 2:17 we read;
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
The message is obvious and is just another example of the miraculous foresight of The Lord. You are not to eat anything containing food additive E460.
If we take the more abstract philosophical approach popular with hippies and modern scholars alike one could argue that all fruit is impermissible. Given the other dietary guidelines so generously bestowed upon us by The Almighty God Jesus and their clear focus on eating only things that had sentient parents, this position makes a whole lot of sense.
And please think about it. Most fruit is suggestive in shape and color.

Son, if it were all about the type of fruit, I'd think a banana was more suggestive than an apple, because of it's shape bearing a resemblance to a man's erect tallywhacker, as Satan could have been using a banana to try to loure Adam into being a homo.
