Hello friends! In my previous Safety First! thread, I talked about how to identify and protect yourself from a demonic infestion, and I'd like to continue the series by talking to you all about another very important, possibly dangerous spiritual force out there; angels!

Now, to the uninformed false Christian, this may sound completely absurd! Christians of all denominations (well, maybe except those weird Unitarian Universalists) are brought up to believe in angels and recognize them as paragons of goodness, and even though they aren't True Christians™, they're right in that regard! However, since demons are angels (fallen angels that serve their master Satan, see Revelation 12:9 and other verses) it's important to know how to recognize the differences between the two.

So, without further ado, here's everything the unsaved trash NEED to know about angels!

Basic Facts about Angels

As I stated in my thread concerning demons, angels are very real, very powerful spiritual beings. All angels were created to be greater than man (Psalm 8:4-5), although it's important to remember that they aren't omniscient (Matthew 24:36). There are different types of angels, including Cherubim (see Genesis 3:24, Exodus 25:20, Ezekiel 1, 10 and 28 and many other verses and books for details), Seraphim (see Isaiah 6:1-7 for details) and Thrones, Dominions, Powers and Principalities (see Colossians 1:16 for details). Angels do not have a set physical-form (they're ministering spirits, see Hebrews 1:14), and they can either appear as regular men (not women, see Genesis 18:1-19, Joshua 5:13-14 and Mark 16:5 for details) or as in an otherworldly, frightening form (Zacharias and the keepers of Jesus's tomb were all frightened upon seeing an angel, see Luke 1:12 and Matthew 28:4). Angels are genderless (Matthew 22:30), although they are always referred to as masculine (Genesis 19:10-12, Revelation 7:2, Revelation 8:3 and Revelation 10:7). If you're ever contacted by an angel, don't offend it by calling it a woman or referring to it by the feminine pronoun!

And no, people who go to Heaven don't become angels (Hebrews 12:22-23).


How do I tell angels and demons apart?

It is simply not possible for somebody who isn't a True Christian™ to know for sure, but depending on what the spirit in question is doing, it might give some indication as to whether it's an angel or merely a demon impersonating one.

Is the spirit in question:

Praising or worshiping God? (Psalm 148:1-2)
Following His commandments? (Psalm 103:20)
Playing trumpets? (Revelation 8:2)
Answering prayers? (Acts 12:5-10)
Helping convert heathens? (Acts 8:26)

If so, the being in question just might be an angel! However, we must always be careful, because Satan DOES walk amongst us like a lion, trying to trick believers (1 Peter 5:8).

What do I do if I am contacted by an angel?

Ask yourself a question; am I a True Christian™? If not, did the angel in question convince me to convert to True Christianity™? If you answered no to either of those two questions, then you should seek out a True Christian and follow my advice (the link is at the beginning of this thread) for taking care of a demon possession IMMEDIATELY. Don't forget Malachi 3:8 either!

If you answered yes to either of those two questions, then REJOICE!! The Lord has sent a messenger to you, so remember to follow all angelic instructions!

Sister Lycia, once again your diligent study of scripture has given me another subject to spend some time on. I thank you for the specific citation of verses for me to study. I so much believe that both angels and demons walk the face of Earth. And we need to be able to know who is who.

I've always liked this verse and the hope of being in the presence of a real angel:

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2

Amen, Sister! We must not forget how important it is to recognize the spiritual forces that wrestle for control of this world. Think of it; what would have happened if Joseph hadn't recognized the angel in his dream (Matthew 2:13)? Surely, the evil soldiers of Herod would have found Baby Jesus!
